all forms of religion seeks to answer that which humans either dare not answer for whatever reason or is unable to answer such question.. the vagueness of the written works in the bibles of every religion suggest that one phrase may have thousands of meanings in such case, eventually one will point out something.. now science on the other hand is not vague.. it never is.. perhaps we have different words for different things but the idea is always the same..
Ah, I can see it now, the fact that we dont know how this pulsar got these traits in such time means of course that God did it. What else? Ugh, damn religitards.
@lotmein20 i think you're a bit confused, if there was no free will then biblically speaking why would the ten commandments exist, or prophets, or miracles, or the messiah, and so on. re-read the book of genesis
@gjsterp you're adding 2+2 and getting 5. i don't believe in the bible, i'm correcting youtube user "lotmein20" who is giving out incorrect information by suggesting if the biblical God existed we would have no free speech
@skihas1 A real revelation would have been in the Bible telling us about these stars, but no such thing. We had to find these revelations ourselves. No god involved. Just human engineering and Brain Power.
Now help us out a little, and start using your BP.
My only comfort is in knowing that one day the universe will swallow us, just as it gave birth to us, and it'll be nothing spectacular about it. Much like solar bodies come and go without anyone blinking an eye, we'll disappear and the universe will move on as it always have.
And despite all the religious nutcases on this earth preaching and marvelling over their own greatness as sons of the divine whatever, there'll be nothing more to it.
The universe is fantastic enough without religion.
Just because we can't comprehend something, it doesn't mean it's mystical. When lightning struck once upon a time, we had no idea why or how thus we made something religious out of it. We figured out why it struck, said "Oh." and moved on to make religion out of something else.
It's pathetic how we still do the same thing. Our minds are too limited to comprehend all the workings of the universe thus some still bury their heads in the sand and invent spiritual/religious meanings to it.
Odd. I thought pulsars emitted radio waves were the only type of radiation pulsars emitted. This video and further reading suggests other types of radiation also. Am I mistaken? Anyone care to explain?
@McLuddington: On the basis of thermal black body radiation alone, a body would have to be pretty boring to only emit radio waves. Neutron stars seem to be just about anything but boring. They've got all kinds of emission processes running; rotational speed, huge magnetic fields, external accretion disks, you name it. I can't think of anything that is more universally represented across the spectrum.
@lotmein20 that's true, but the real motivations are based very firmly in the real world.
if i were to try and explain why i'm an atheist to somebody it would be because of senseless tragedy. i understand the concept of free will, and if man chooses to exercise his free will for evil then God can only watch & then judge those people when their time comes. however, i do not understand why we have things like anneurysms, cot death, plane crashes, natural disasters, and so forth.
Wow, gotta wonder how much kinetic energy a neutron star has. Imagine mount everest spinning around 100 times a second. And that was just one teaspoon of neutron star matter.
if those neutron stars are so dense, will they eventually turn into to black holes, if enough matter get caught in their gravity well, or do they "die" to quickly
@unamaxify: No. Their matter has run up against the neutron degeneracy pressure. If the gravity field should overcome this final state of matter, then nothing will halt it's collapse down to a black hole. However, that wall is so high that for practical purposes, a neutron star has already fought the battle and won; the only thing that ever creates a black hole (afaik) is the pressure of a 4x solar mass undergoing a Type 2 supernova event (or the LHC@CERN, maybe); nothing else will do.
Why are the comments on every single SpaceRip video always the same old idiotic argument that has nothing to do with anything in the videos? Just enjoy the videos ffs.

@VogonJ hey, just to be clear i didn't say suddenly. in order to form an orbit around a neutron star, the object orbiting would have to be at an extremely high velocity. it's like dropping a bowling pin on a trampoline and trying to roll pees around it.
@cobaltdan9 Still he asked if the original planets in their orbit. The planets would remain in orbits at the same distance with the same velocity if the neutronstar had the same mass. A star going through its last stages to become a neutronstar would loose mass. So the planets would widen their orbit.
The gravitational forces at the surface og the star would be 1000s of times higher, but at the original distance it will be the same.
@cobaltdan9: No, impossible. There is no more mass there than the star originally had, minus the mass blown off into space in the supernova that created the NS. It has been compressed to super density, but mass cannot be created or destroyed except in relativistic ways, which are not involved here. Density = mass/volume, and it's the volume that has changed.
This is all Physics 101. Nuclear processes follow the same rules.
@cobaltdan9: No. Their gravitational pull is no stronger than the equivalently massed star, as long as the planets are in orbits appropriate for that star. Remember, a pulsar is born in a supernova of another star, and is the mass of that star's core only. If that star has planets in orbits which survive the supernova (unlikely, but stipulated) then they would continue on as before.
neither me nor anyone i responded to said anything about equivalently massed planets....that'd have to be one huge mofo of a planet to have that much mass.

@lotmein20 well, that all depends on how you interpret it. i live in a country where common sense prevails, and no disrespect to america, but christian's wont *literally* believe God made the earth in 7 days, or that dinosaurs never really existed, or any of that extremist point of view. they will however take the good points, the good teachings, and also the comforting parts of their particular religion.

I know it sounds like a super nova in fast motion, but could anyone explain to me what I saw?
@aragee I'd say it was caused by the atmosphere. Either distorting a celestial object or some kind of mirage, maybe of a ground object. That'd be my guess...
@aragee: More likely a Iridium satellite flare; their solar panels reflect sunlight very predictably. See heavens-above(.)com, look under satellites for iridium flares, see the schedule and go look at one (there's usually at least one per night about everywhere), and see if that was what it looked like.
...a whole universe out there for incentive to star trek
~whole worlds to migrate to and enhance survival of many life forms
=but it will take 10 billion fully functional humans to get to the edge of our heavenly hosts interstellar boundary layer, and there are masses untold to harvest & mold
@Oxydox they also show us objects that are 13.7 years old... and when they zoom in I see stars even further into the past... its just the current theory until we figure more out about whats going on... look up dark flow on wiki
How do you know this? "A teaspoon of matter from a neutron star weighs as much Mount Everest, and a neutron star is so compact that a ball about 15 miles across contains more matter than our sun. Neutron stars spin between 7 and 40,000 times a minute and form with incredibly strong magnetic fields" what kind of proof do you actually have?
@gaiagale: You can start by reading the article in wikipedia about them in order to get a general understanding, and then investigate the references at the end of the article. Once you've done that, you'll have a fair start with the evidence for all these claims.
I really enjoy watching these videos ...but why do you computer image so many visuals I want to see what is actually seen perhaps identifying the actual photos as actual would help
@gaiagale You have no idea how hard it is to even take a picture of something so incredibly distant. Real time video of such things are quite literally impossible, so they're forced to give accurate representation through CGI.
@honorific88 thanks for getting back to me ...perhaps my understanding is somewhat limited ...still I would like to see what the scientists actually see in order to sort the real images from the CGI
@gaiagale google space observation arrays, look at the pictures and charts their equipment produce. The CGI is the interpretation of that raw information.
You have to either be educated, or an enthusiast in such things to be able to make sense of the information. the computer generated visuals like in this video, are created so the general population can understand the jist of the information without actually doing the work.
@honorific88 thank-you ...still it is possible to identify the actual images from the CGIs otherwise it is just a story being masqueraded as scientific fact.. A thought just occurred to me ...have you been telling me that these are all CGI images? ...surely there are some images that are actual ...oh my ...I'm feeling a bit foolish ...I've allowed myself to be duped
I subscribed to this channel because I thought I was being presented the truth about space beyond earth's immediate surroundings
@gaiagale You are being presented the observable truth... You're just being presented the layman's version because you probably couldn't make heads or tales of the raw information.
@honorific88 the observable truth?!? ...observable on a monitor or observable via huble images ...please understand my comment is simply an opinion that I want to see what is actually visable at some point within in the story
with all due respect I noticed that in this reply you used 'you' 3 times as if I'm the only one being "presented the observable truth" ..."presented the layman's version ...of the raw information" when in fact it is 'we' that are being presented the layman's version...
@honorific88 I don't think it's about your sense of seeing. The frequency used in the gamma rays is much higher then the visual spectrum. The data those computers are gathering it's beyond our senses. The receptors are like artificial sensors. They detect and use the data captured by their functionality and bring the data to the "artificial brain" (computers) to be analyzed and after the results are computed, then the simulations are made, based on results. I don't think you should expect more.
@countryaniac When I say "observable truth" I mean "everything detectable". I haven't even mentioned the visual spectrum in anything I've said so far.
I'm pretty confident that you've hit the wrong reply button here.
@honorific88 You were talking about images, when it's all probably a matter of measurements. And probably you are right, I did not asked you what do you mean by "observable truth"... So I'm sorry if I misunderstood your comment. I thought you were referring at some true images of the far away space. I'm sorry if I confused you even more. Cheers!
@honorific88 English it's fine by me. :)) But I'm still not shore if I can manage to answer some of your questions properly. Still, I'll try my best...
I like the CGI, and i trust the scientist do their best effort to present their information based on their best understanding... i think these ways to present videos are suitable for this kind of public. if u want more detailed factual information, u could always go to the very sources in academic institutions and access the data there. Anyway this content is presented "as is" so we should be happy that these guys take the time and effort to provide us entertaining scientific info.
@3DHeaven fair enough ...thank-you for making time to share your perspective ...that is an idea worth considering ...perhaps I will go to the source
I do understand "this content is presented "as is" " ...my initial comment began with "I really enjoy watching these videos" and ended with "thank-you for sharing" so clearly I appreciate "these guys take the time and effort"
Im sure the source would be interesting! i would love to have time and knowledge to dig more into these amazing subjects, and I'm glad to see how many people is interested. btw. my previous post i did just for the sake of answering.. i didn't intend any bad meaning ok? just chatting a bit. i also enjoy the videos, and thank you for your sincere request of information.! can't wait to see the next one :)
@gaiagale FYI, there are NO actual photos of pulsars.whatever data gathered from land based & space based telescopes is illustrated on these 3d visuals.
@hayden50 WOW that was quick thank-you for making time to reply ,,,I do understand that the images are 3d visuals ...that's my point while this is a wonderful story I want to see real images
I like this channel that much as soon as i play a video i click "Like" on it without even watching the video. Thank you for posting this for everyone SpaceRip.
totally agree with u!!! The space is like a fine masterpiece that the Creator has done in the canvas of the universe... its a marvel to enjoy and derive blessing from.
@3DHeaven the AgeOfEnlightenment of the 1800`s has gone right over your head, prolly cos youve never owned a library card in your life, this Age is when the sciences of biology, geology, paleontology, astrology, physics, psychology and history had enuff evidence to prove that the realm of the supernatural DOES NOT EXIST.Take your ghosts, gods, werewolves, dieties, vampires, magic, miracles and other nonsense away.YouTube is getting full of nutters like you
@smartzazi I would not put one above the other in order of importance. The ocean has so much to offer, maybe when we have more accessible vehicles that can travel to the deep more people will realize that this is a water planet.
@smartzazi and you know what? most people do care about preserving the environment, the problem comes when they are unaware of what goes on in the world. that is why bringing people closer to nature helps.
Now then there will be some who won't care or will try to abuse the environment, but this is a battle that we must continue to fight, for the good of us all, against those who put the human species to shame.
Actually more than 80% of the climate change would be solved if we change our diet to a plant based diet. numerous recent studies point this out...
All transports combined and other stuffs account for only 13% or so of gas emissions.. the rest is almost methane gas from manure from factory farms...
so, fastest way to save the planet is change to a animal-free diet.. hehehe
actually its a well know fact, that if we used the grains and vegetables to feed the humans, instead of feeding cattle. there is enough food to feed all the population of this planet 3 times!!! amazing huh?
i was creeped out the other day when i saw this interview with captain Paul Watson (Sea Shepherd) he said 2/3 of all FISH that comes from the ocean is used as cattle food!!! that is crazy!! even kill so many animals to feed other animals! woow..!
@3DHeaven I surely hope that you don't trust that guy! He is a pathetic liar, and he uses propaganda to win the hearts of people. You should check other sources before you can say that that is true.
@3DHeaven you know what another alternative could be? Growing meat.
How about instead of taking care of animals for consumption we instead grow meat in labs, much like we grow body parts like bladders for transplant, it may sound like a stretch but it could be done if we figure out how, all we really have to do is set up the conditions and cells do the rest themselves.
I don't know if the meat would taste different, but the main problem to solve would be one of culture.
I'm sure u will enjoy this link> crisis2peace (d o t) org
this a very very concentrated and easy understand scientifically supported explanation of how changing to a plant based diet is the fastest and more feasible answer to stop climate change. full of NASA, UN, IPCC and numerous sources,...
After i read this.. i stop eating meat and became vegan... i just couldn't consider meat anymore after reading this.
@3DHeaven I say that the clue is to have a balanced diet, not to focus too much on being a vegan or 'carnivore'(?), but just have the willpower and knowledge to eat without excess.
I think to eat meat or veg for moral reasons its an option, indeed. unfortunately now we face very ugly times because of climate change, and now is more a survival thing... its actually funny that the scientist suggest this option as the best one. but after reading all the info it just makes a lot of sense. watch this from head NASA scientist, and let me know what u think:
Dr. James Hansen (NASA): There are many things that people can do to reduce their carbon emissions, but changing your light bulb and many of the things are much less effective than changing your diet because if you eat further down on the food chain rather than animals, which have produced many greenhouse gases, and used much energy in the process of growing that meat, you can actually make a bigger contribution in that way than just about anything.
i became vegan 2 years ago... for environmental reasons after reading all this stuffs. and in the beginning was a bit hard to know what to eat. now i enjoy a lot. pastas. pizzas, all sorts of foods. yumm! and vegan! no cheese needed. just takes a bit of time huh?

@aragee I'd say it was caused by the atmosphere. Either distorting a celestial object or some kind of mirage, maybe of a ground object. That'd be my guess...
disrxt 3 months ago
@aragee: More likely a Iridium satellite flare; their solar panels reflect sunlight very predictably. See heavens-above(.)com, look under satellites for iridium flares, see the schedule and go look at one (there's usually at least one per night about everywhere), and see if that was what it looked like.

How do you know this? "A teaspoon of matter from a neutron star weighs as much Mount Everest, and a neutron star is so compact that a ball about 15 miles across contains more matter than our sun. Neutron stars spin between 7 and 40,000 times a minute and form with incredibly strong magnetic fields" what kind of proof do you actually have?
gaiagale 3 months ago
@gaiagale: You can start by reading the article in wikipedia about them in order to get a general understanding, and then investigate the references at the end of the article. Once you've done that, you'll have a fair start with the evidence for all these claims.

I really enjoy watching these videos ...but why do you computer image so many visuals I want to see what is actually seen perhaps identifying the actual photos as actual would help
that aside thank-you for sharing
gaiagale 3 months ago
@gaiagale You have no idea how hard it is to even take a picture of something so incredibly distant. Real time video of such things are quite literally impossible, so they're forced to give accurate representation through CGI.
honorific88 3 months ago
@honorific88 thanks for getting back to me ...perhaps my understanding is somewhat limited ...still I would like to see what the scientists actually see in order to sort the real images from the CGI
gaiagale 3 months ago
@gaiagale google space observation arrays, look at the pictures and charts their equipment produce. The CGI is the interpretation of that raw information.
You have to either be educated, or an enthusiast in such things to be able to make sense of the information. the computer generated visuals like in this video, are created so the general population can understand the jist of the information without actually doing the work.
honorific88 3 months ago 35
@honorific88 thank-you ...still it is possible to identify the actual images from the CGIs otherwise it is just a story being masqueraded as scientific fact.. A thought just occurred to me ...have you been telling me that these are all CGI images? ...surely there are some images that are actual ...oh my ...I'm feeling a bit foolish ...I've allowed myself to be duped
I subscribed to this channel because I thought I was being presented the truth about space beyond earth's immediate surroundings
gaiagale 3 months ago
@gaiagale You are being presented the observable truth... You're just being presented the layman's version because you probably couldn't make heads or tales of the raw information.
honorific88 3 months ago
@honorific88 the observable truth?!? ...observable on a monitor or observable via huble images ...please understand my comment is simply an opinion that I want to see what is actually visable at some point within in the story
with all due respect I noticed that in this reply you used 'you' 3 times as if I'm the only one being "presented the observable truth" ..."presented the layman's version ...of the raw information" when in fact it is 'we' that are being presented the layman's version...
gaiagale 3 months ago
@honorific88 I don't think it's about your sense of seeing. The frequency used in the gamma rays is much higher then the visual spectrum. The data those computers are gathering it's beyond our senses. The receptors are like artificial sensors. They detect and use the data captured by their functionality and bring the data to the "artificial brain" (computers) to be analyzed and after the results are computed, then the simulations are made, based on results. I don't think you should expect more.
countryaniac 3 months ago
@countryaniac When I say "observable truth" I mean "everything detectable". I haven't even mentioned the visual spectrum in anything I've said so far.
I'm pretty confident that you've hit the wrong reply button here.
honorific88 3 months ago
@honorific88 You were talking about images, when it's all probably a matter of measurements. And probably you are right, I did not asked you what do you mean by "observable truth"... So I'm sorry if I misunderstood your comment. I thought you were referring at some true images of the far away space. I'm sorry if I confused you even more. Cheers!
countryaniac 3 months ago
@countryaniac What's your primary language? I'll translate it so you can understand.

@gaiagale

How come we look out there and never try to reach the bottom of the oceans! that's where the doors to the other worlds are!!
smartzazi 3 months ago
@smartzazi I would not put one above the other in order of importance. The ocean has so much to offer, maybe when we have more accessible vehicles that can travel to the deep more people will realize that this is a water planet.
viicISrotcib 3 months ago
@viicISrotcib Our water planet is running out of life..
smartzazi 3 months ago
@smartzazi and you know what? most people do care about preserving the environment, the problem comes when they are unaware of what goes on in the world. that is why bringing people closer to nature helps.
Now then there will be some who won't care or will try to abuse the environment, but this is a battle that we must continue to fight, for the good of us all, against those who put the human species to shame.
viicISrotcib 3 months ago
@viicISrotcib

@3DHeaven oh yeah. I forgot that. my bad :(
HeyPeni 3 months ago
@HeyPeni
i was creeped out the other day when i saw this interview with captain Paul Watson (Sea Shepherd) he said 2/3 of all FISH that comes from the ocean is used as cattle food!!! that is crazy!! even kill so many animals to feed other animals! woow..!
3DHeaven 3 months ago
@3DHeaven I surely hope that you don't trust that guy! He is a pathetic liar, and he uses propaganda to win the hearts of people. You should check other sources before you can say that that is true.
HeyPeni 3 months ago
@3DHeaven you know what another alternative could be? Growing meat.
How about instead of taking care of animals for consumption we instead grow meat in labs, much like we grow body parts like bladders for transplant, it may sound like a stretch but it could be done if we figure out how, all we really have to do is set up the conditions and cells do the rest themselves.
I don't know if the meat would taste different, but the main problem to solve would be one of culture.

this a very very concentrated and easy understand scientifically supported explanation of how changing to a plant based diet is the fastest and more feasible answer to stop climate change. full of NASA, UN, IPCC and numerous sources,...
After i read this.. i stop eating meat and became vegan... i just couldn't consider meat anymore after reading this.
3DHeaven 3 months ago
@3DHeaven I say that the clue is to have a balanced diet, not to focus too much on being a vegan or 'carnivore'(?), but just have the willpower and knowledge to eat without excess.
viicISrotcib 3 months ago
@viicISrotcib
I think to eat meat or veg for moral reasons its an option, indeed. unfortunately now we face very ugly times because of climate change, and now is more a survival thing... its actually funny that the scientist suggest this option as the best one. but after reading all the info it just makes a lot of sense. watch this from head NASA scientist, and let me know what u think:
tinyurl /JamesHansenTV
3DHeaven 3 months ago
@viicISrotcib
3DHeaven 3 months ago
@3DHeaven I can't cook meat anyway so I've actually been a vegan for the last six months...
viicISrotcib 3 months ago
@viicISrotcib
that sounds awesome!!! i hope u stay vegan!
i became vegan 2 years ago... for environmental reasons after reading all this stuffs. and in the beginning was a bit hard to know what to eat. now i enjoy a lot. pastas. pizzas, all sorts of foods. yumm! and vegan! no cheese needed. just takes a bit of time huh?
