  • You gotta have property taxes....how else can you pay for keeping retired city and state employees with their sky-high pensions and their cushy multi-million dollar homes with hummer trucks and mercedes cars in their driveways

Oh, you don't like the system.....they been doing it this way for decades. Don't rock the boat.....you pay out the ass and like it. You don't like it then move out of the country

  • I wrote Rubio 10 times and never recieved one reply, so here's my advise. There's not valid one explanation why members of the public who own property should pay an additional tax to support the rest of the community's services. There is no evidence that someone who owns a home has more access to prosperity than non-homeowners. In fact, their responsibilities and expenses of upkeeping their little slice of the community should earn them monetary credits. REPLACE PROPERTY TAXES WITH INCOME TAXES.

  • @farmboycarl You don't own property if you have to pay a tax on it!! If you pay taxes on property that means the state has part ownership.

  • In America, nobody owns a house here. Going to other countries made me realize that Americans do not own property. Owning to me is living in a house and not being removed from there for not paying the government. That only happens when someone rents a place.

  • @mitchel123456789 You got it!! The tax that bothers me more than any other is property tax! By having such tax we NEVER own a home and in most cases vehicles! It's bullshit! But if you look at how many people watch videos about the subject I guess those of us who care about ownership are somewhat rare. Peace!

  • When the founder's of America argued about the sources of income for the new government, the agreed upon commerice and tariffs!

Their argument about the taxation of private property (residential) tax was why did we fight the revolutionary war if they are going to be subjects to their govt leasing property from the govt.

Fact is property tax on Residential property is illegal via our founders because we were meant to be free to actually own something, not lease it from elitism! time for revolt

  • Public education: Unionized terrorists depriving American citizens of their right to own property extorted by America's greediest underachievers.

  • I agree that property taxes need to be cut, but I would like to see that word tax taken out of the equation. Call it town rates or something else, not taxes. I think that most Americans would agree with me if property taxes were taken out and town rates were installed. Paying more taxes just doesn't help morale a lot.

  • You're paying "taxes" because you don't have title only a deed. You only have a deed because you stepped into Maritime Admiralty commercial law when you borrowed against that land.

Your "taxes" are the fee to use another party's property.

  • call me now at 909-524-2063

i will help cut your property tax

  • The message that doesn't get conveyed with asking for a cut in taxes is that government revenue goes UP when taxes are cut, not down. The relationship is very dynamic. Usually a cut in taxes benefits government and the people.

  • everyone wants to be rich,

this is the goal in most people life these days.and forget everything else in life.

  • One thing I don't like about property taxes is that, although the property is yours, if you don't pay your property taxes every year, the government will take your land away from you. With that being so, you're actually renting the land from the government.

  • Great video thanks. Maybe a brief explanation of confusing Amend 1 would have also helped. Let's get it done - cut taxes or just get rid of them all together. Go Ron Paul 2008. +4

  • "W"'s First economic policie was to cut taxes!!! A Great vision from our elected official. One all city and State government officials should follow. However the policies following that had the opposite economic benefit. Start a second war, create another huge branch of government, create laws that sound appealing but really hurt more people than they help. It feels like 50% of the country is employed by the government and the other 50% has to pay. Give us Small Government Please!!!

  • Hey, you wanted "W"'s economic policies, you got them. Inflation in the last 7 years under Bush is ridiculous. Property taxes are the last thing to keep the working class out of a house in Florida. And FL was under Jeb Bush when these taxes increased. Anyone feel compelled to put another Bush in the White House, well, we can't afford another Bush family member as President.

  • High taxes are you nuts? Try $50.00 per 1000 assesed value! Lockport NY!

  • As a self-employed person, I want to pay for all the services that we are getting, and enjoy the freedoms our forefathers fought and died for. It is the mismanagement by government with the funds they levy and receive that I cannot stand for. The special interest groups have created havoc with the system. Developers are entrepreneurial, which was a concept our nation was founded on. They create jobs, create revenue streams, and build our infrastructure and cities.

  • Everyone wants services but nobody wants to pay. The "government" is us! We want good roads, police protection, paramedics, firefighters, libraries, parks, good schools - the list goes on and on. The animals in the shelter are already being killed off because there are not enough funds to give them vet care and to get them adopted. Firefighters are being laid off. When the developers and builders push something, it's very suspicious.

  • Bowling...think about it...if we CUT spending then our government budgets will do DOWN and we sould spend MORE on services. The problem is that they are spending our money FOOLISHLY and they are not good stewards of OUR MONEY. Its all a GAME...they government does not know HOW to operate EFFICIENTLY, so they try to SCARE us with service cuts.

  • @cutpropertytaxesnow

and supporting the wars ( killings) around the world

  • A corporation's primary goal is to make money. Government's primary role is to take a big chunk of that money and give it to others. Government has been getting bigger and bigger, and taking more and more. As a self employed citizen I have to work harder and harder to earn enough to keep up with their growing demands. The more I earn, the more I am penalized by various local state and federal governments in the private sector. Cut Taxes Now!!!

  • How about the 2500 I have paid to fedral taxes already this year? One paycheck and shazzaaam already I have paid almost what I pay in a year for property tax. How about this for a head line, now this is what I'm talking about here are the real crooks......Allstate barred from writing new auto policies

Here is where the real problems start!

  • hurray for McCarty!! finally the state gets it right!!

  • This grass roots movement could push for an increase in sales tax. Why are the property owners penalized with taxes and footing the bulk of the states bills such as roads, fire, police? Why can't all of our visitors and non-property owners who use the services help out though sales tax. The raise in rate would be very minor to EVERYONE if it were spread out to EVERYONE. This is more fair for EVERYONE using these services to help pay for them and not just out of the pockets of the property owners.

  • The problem doesn't lay in the hands of the governm't. It is the insurance companies that need to reform. When more people have more money, this tends to increase property values which then increases the taxes. The answer is simple. If you don't want to pay more taxes. Don't move. Then the government will have to make reforms all on their own. Leave everything alone and DON'T BUY A NEW HOME!

  • OK...So to follow your same line of thinking...if taxes are high then people have LESS money in their pockets and property values will go DOWN! So your answer is don't move and don't buy a new home...that's a novel idea...put millions of people out of work so you and the government can prosper!!

  • Propert taxes will skyrocket for many reasons. One - government pensions, including teachers, firemen, and policemen. These folks pay went up like crazy, and their pensions went up even more. They retire earlier -- and stay on pension longer, and get MUCH higher pensions LONGER>

  • A great plan that will send a message to our politicians! Our gov is not fiscally responsible and will always spend more than they can tax us. Special lobby groups benefit, like firefighters. 316 FIREMEN MADE OVER $100,000 PER YEAR- PALM BEACH COUNTY There are many other groups, it is time to tell our elected officials to stop placing the burden on the property owners. Enough is enough! Vote for 1.35%.

  • Fl residents could benefit from a major tax cut....

  • Yes of course. But you gotta cut government pay and pensions. Years ago, gov employees didnt get paid much, but they got great benefits, days off, vacation pay, and pensions, to compensate for rather low pay. Now, they are paid far higher -- and the overall pension cost are 10-20 times higher than they were. You have to cut the pay, and reduce the pensions somehow.

  • How many hours did they work per week to receive that wage ? 56 hours per week ?...every week ? How many hours do you work GSPUBLIC for the salary you receive and what would your salary look like if you had to work 16 hours of overtime every week or every year ? You all are getting duped into helping people who own second or third vacation homes in Florida and don't want to help pay for the services those homes require. Rubio could propose to cut State taxes but he won't.

  • JB, you are SEVERELY misinformed!!!. Government and their wages are WAY out of line with the private sector. When the best jobs in the county ARE COUNTY JOBS we are DOING SOMETHING WRONG!! In my county the AVERAGE government worker makes almost $10,000 more than the private sector and...they get benefits, health care and pensions also. We are not trying to eliminate the government, we are trying to right size the government.

  • I guess its time to change careers then isn't it. We all have choices now. I don't equate a firefighter to a lawn worker. I don't equate a law maker to a grocery bagger either. Maybe we should pay those individuals 100k a year?

  • Yoo still have not addressed my Rubio is such a hero and this property tax is such a great idea for local government when Rubio and the state lawmakers have not reduced sales tax, gas tax or anything in their revenue stream one bit. Want to help all people in Florida without gutting local services ?.....cut or get rid of the state sales tax. And why is Rubio fighting the $ 50 million per year the Seminole Tribe wants to give to Florida for their right to have slot machines ?

  • JB...please be constructive in your arguments. I do not mind posting opposing views, but costantly complaining isn't constructive...it is destructive.

  • How constructive is cut your property taxes now ?....so anything other than a pat-on-the-back for Rubio is complaining ? I guess you STILL won't address whether cutting other taxes is a good idea or not....

  • JB...cutting ALL taxes is a good idea!! This was not Rubio's idea. This is a grassroot coalitions idea...Marco Rubio is just endorsing it. Cutting taxes whether it is real estate taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes or federal income taxes will help create jobs and put more of our hard earned dollars in OUR pocket.

  • Rubio and the builders don't give a damn about Florida residents and taxpayers...this move serves to benefit people who have their second, third or vacation home in Florida and live someplace in the world. Rubo can't wait to see firefighter and paramedic reductions. Private for-profit fire departments here we come. Notice that Rubio did nor propose cutting state sales tax. Florida homeowners already have a tax cap to protect them if they actually live here.

  • Agree with you 500%. I'm a former county employee and I know how it works, local government will increase other local taxes to compensate for the loss of revenues.

  • It is important for all Americans, and our economy that Property taxes be reduced.

  • No question that our taxes are too high and as a senior citizen on a fixed income I support cuts however we need to be aware of the rule of unintended consequences. Someone paid for our educations and we ned to keep kids behind desks now or pay to keep them behind bars later.
