  • I'm coming to Ireland in March next year, i wonder if there is hang gliding instruction available in the Limerick / Shannon area? (Clare Co.) I had started training last year and had some short flights but i want to continue my training and get my pilot's license.

  • What a lovely informative video for someone (like me) who'd really like to take this activity up. Thank you

  • Nice glider K4....was !!!! ;)

  • Nice video footage and excellent location.

I wonder what formal and/or legal qualifications the IHPA PG 'instructors' and their 'acredited schools' instructors have for teaching in Ireland ?

In Ireland a person does NOT need any 'qualification' or training to PG - that is the law.

But would I highly recommend FORMAL PG flight training for their own personal safety as it is a dangerous air sport for a new 'untrained' pilot that can end in death.

Investigate ALL options for PG training first !

  • Great video. Really enjoyed the weekend. Fabulous place to fly. Agnes enjoyed her maiden Irish flight from Minaun to the bog. The highlight for me was the flight with Sebaastian from Minaun to the beach at Tra Mor, Keel - brilliant! Fabulous views of the cliffs.

    Thanks for posting.

    Cheers

    Eugene

  • I remember you telling me about this Eugene - looks like it was a blast.

  • U gotta go there John. Achill has it's own amazing climate, rugged coast, super camping facilities and ya the paragliding is a real blast lol.

  • Well shot documentary, some nice footage. Looks a great site. Loved the stereo typical diddley dee music. Easy to listen to. Rember that if you can't find a suitable hill with the IHPA then come up north and try some with the UHPC. Fly safe where ever you go d;-)

  • hanggliders are not more difficult to fly or land, its just a matter of learning flare timing for the glider you are flying.

what does an ihpa paragliding acredited school do that makes it safer to go to an ihpa school than any other school ie bhpa. and why recommend going to spain or france instead of the uk where they have some excelent schools that teach you to fly in the same weather conditions?

  • I think you may have just opened a can of worms there friend :)
