because this virus is attached to a system 32 file, when you delete it....it takes the system file with it. Causing blue screens of death. #1 solution is pop in your windows XP cd and do a "Fresh install" wiping the HD clean. not a recovery because this wont remove the virus. Use Avast anti virus is completely free and use spybot search and destroy!!!

That cleans it off your registry, but it could still be there, just "hiding."

Use malwarebytes or spyware doctor to finish it off after using a system restore to force antivirus xp off your registry.

Well i had this because of going on to a non security internet link. My step mother had this on her computer, and she didnt even know about it, and over the same internet signal it got transfered over to my computer.

This viscious virus is a terrible thing, as you should never buy it. I was randomly watching videos on youtube one day as this popped up, right after going home from my step moms house. this happened numerous times after, and these videos are my savior.

that's because windows XP can't install on a SATA drive without you putting it into "Compatibility Mode" in your computer's BIOS (which tricks the computer into thinking it's a normal IDE drive), vista doesn't have that issue because it's newer.

I got this today and it has stopped task manager, reset systme restore to today only, changed my pictures to other formats and changed the desktop background. I found the file but can't delete it in any way as it is write protected. or in use. tried ,malware but no luck so far. it is blocking active x so can't install a new virus software!

Still have this problem. I fixed it without reinstalling windows. Trend Micro. But the big thing is to system restore. See if your antivirus program has a system restore. I couldn't restore it, but lucky my other program allowed me to. After that a lot of scanning, changing registry keys and other things. Try Trend Micro, they told me how to actually delete the stuff and it's free.

It sends you a bunch of fake virus alerts. Download the program Malwarebytes to get rid of it, that's what I did, and now my pc is back to normal and I didn't have to delete anything important on my computer.

what really made it bad was my anti virus telling me about it and not being able to delete it.

I was fortunate enough to have the icon it on my desktop. That allowed me to locate the follow and get the file name. I pulled up the task manager (ctrl. alt. Del.), clicked processes, then found the file and ended its process. I then was able to go back and delete the program. I doubt it's completely gone but it looks better. I haven't restarted. Hopefully this helps.

ok.you could get it on almost any website. a link in facebook brought me to a site (not mainpage)which "scanned" my whole system in 3 seconds and said i had 2,300 + viruses and i have to download their antivirus.

a most common method is to get ppl in forums. most people would just paste links in forums like yahoo answers, PS3 forums, gamespot etc.

ok open your task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) OR

(ctrl+shift+esc) now when you opened it, click processes tab and delete the process belonging to the antivirus. it would effectivly shutdown antivirus XP 08 for now. then delete it!
