Thanks luptilu7- there is a ton of money going into trying to punish people for using recreational drugs. If ever we get to vote directly on the laws- a majority would probably at least lower the sentences to a couple of days until people are sober and get another chance at sobriety. - The same for prost - which I think is not enforced against wealthy insiders anyway- but let's make it for poor people too.
@cbradley1391 thanks: yeah clearly we need to focus on stopping all violent crimes, theft, and trespassing. I think the myths about crack addiction are overblown - it's like any addiction probably - some people will rob for food, alcohol, coke, money - people rob and do violence for a variety of reasons, and I think we need to focus on stopping the violence and theft, and in terms of drug use if they are jailed - let it only be for under a week until their sober and clean and get another chance.
yeah, I agree, owning and using marijuana should not be even a fine. For whatever reason, 72% of people in the USA think that it should be a fine- the important point is that the vast majority are against jailing people for marijuana.
That is an important point - let's not jail those addicted to drugs, but if we do, let it be only until they are unaddicted and sober - which, like alcohol, only takes a few days. It's a health issue - drug addiction - not a violent crime to other people - it's a person being unhealthy to their own body - like overeating.
I'm just saying let's not jail those who use or sell drugs. Experimenting with drugs is not a good idea - people should definitely have some idea of the strength of any and all drugs they want to use.
I have no problem with guns, only with the people who use them to do violence against nonviolent people. The same for lasers, xrays, etc beam weapons. I'm just saying - compared to drugs, guns are used to cause far more damage to other people. Guns are by far the more dangerous item. I think that is a clear point. An 16 year old can buy a handgun, but not a joint? not pornography? We have a violent mixed up society. Not everybody should be able to own a missile, and certainly not the violent.

Uhhh...But don't drugs and other foreign chemicals CAUSE violence with guns, knives, and so forth?...And aren't these chemicals poisonous to the human body???...Are you retarded?...The pharmaceutical industry makes billions of dollars annually on selling highly poisonous potent drugs and you're not against THAT?!...This video hasn't persuaded me...
In that sense, guns and alcohol cause more damage in the hands of humans, and they are both legal to those over 18 and 21. With the psych drugs -i'm for free market - but we need to make health care consent only- and tell the truth about drugs not being the magic-pill-cure-all that many people mistakenly think they are. Let's make the psych industry legal - send those people thru the penal system and offer consent-only care that they can refuse - so then they can get trial, sentence, etc.
I want to say too, that I think the religions, like the massive followers of Jesus and Muhommed should turn to science, and examine the factual history - learn about evolution, and the history of science. Many early Christians were racist, and violent. - Remember Hypatia, Giordano Bruno, Galileo, the Inquisition, Michael Servetus, Chavlier de la Barre, the "witches"- murdered in the name of Jesus and Gods. Let's learn about history, science and our future as life of a planet.
this is great, people ignorance of the drug war is in itself criminal too. The drug war is absolutely disgusting, how can people actually want the government intervening in theyre own privacy! I hate the super hypocritical drug war!
I was thinking that in the Great Depression, FDR was elected and ending prohibition of alcohol and that helped the economy to recover. Now we could open the market on marijuana and prostitution for those over 21 and that might create jobs and income for people. Desperate times create an opportunity to implement new future-looking smart approaches. Perhaps the people will get to vote their opinions on a referendum to determine if marijuana should be legalized and taxed like tobacco and alcohol.
I just visualize a picture of the college kids partying, and the long hair hippie - as opposed to the crew-cut person which are found in police and military - of which few have a choice or the freedom of hair length. But I think statistics would show that many people who use recreational drugs have college degrees, are intellectuals and liberals. Probably more liberals use rec drugs than conservatives. the key is - maybe drugs are bad, but lets not jail those who use drugs - its their own choice
I agree with you on everything except the terminology I guess. I think the exact terms for liberals and conservatives have been lost because of the ideologies being drawn mostly on political party lines.
In essence, a conservative would be for legalization where as a liberal wouldn't because abuse can "harm'' society. Liberals tend to think about whats better for the society as opposed to what's better for the individual.
I'm a libertarian and member of the SSDP so I agree completely.
SSDP are "Students for a Sensible Drug Policy", that sounds like a good group to work for reforms. Yes, I think the idea of left and right, conservative and liberal are not clearly defined and we need to examine each individual belief to determine how much values agree or disagree.
drug law reform keys:
1) lower the sentences in the view similar to alcohol addiction - let the people sober up for a day or two then release them - not years in jail
i love it! many more people are addicted to prescription drugs as street drugs. we need to help people with problems, not make their lives living hell.
thanks phloridababe, i'm glad you love it. It's the least I can do when I think about those many millions suffering in prison for drug use. I tell people - don't use drugs, but let's not lock people in jail for years if they do! A person can become unaddicted in a week - but the drug sentences are ridiculously harsh and far outweigh any crime - these are nonviolent activities - and ppl do this to themselves - using drugs is hardly a crime - as overeating - while unhealthy is hardly a crime.
they did for two reasons, money on both sides of the fence and because the more you concentrate on something, the more it increases. universe just doesnt listen to negatives.
well why do we put hard working americans or just plain ol people in jail, in which really the ones we should really trying to put away are the dealers themselves!, and I do not believe marijuana is a drug.
Thanks for the comment. My view on the dreaded "dealers" is that the analogy is the tobacco and alcohol sellers - your friendly supermercado. Are they terrible people for letting people buy tobacco and alcohol from them - or even the fatty food - knowing that people might use it to fatten themselves into an unhealthy body? Let's lock up the violent I sez, cmon people, for the first time ever on the earth, let's lock up the violent, and free the nonviolent drug users, sellers, and prostitutes.
Thanks monarofreak. I am the source on the opinion that "Drug use is a nonviolent crime. Many of the people that use drugs are intellectual...". This is my opinion, but I am not aware of any study that has been performed to determine, for example, the liberal/conservative distribution between those who use drugs and those who put drug users in jail. A Repub admin put forward the mand mins in the US which is evidence that conservs may be more for jailing drug users than Dems.
Yeah, i am strongly opposed to drug use but after doing a little more research i agree that the action taken by the government is disproportionate to the actual crime and jail time for minor drug offenders is wrong. Not sure if it was in the video but can you tell me the statistics of people in jail for minor drug offences?
I used the US Department of Justice data which is on the Internet. I think there may be bureau of prisons data too. But we really need to examine the prisons and see why people are there, examine their sentences in proportion to each other, etc.
I think many people can agree that drug addiction like obesity is probably not good, but the big issue in my mind is: what do we do to ppl who use drugs? I vote against locking them in jail - or certainly for anything more than a few days if that.
Yeah i mainly wanted to know the numbers of minor drug offenders to see how many are in there. If i was president or prime minister for a day i'd whack them with a $1500 fine with the revenue from those fines going to proper clinical treatment for drug addicts
You ever seen a dude flip out on LSD??? I did at this party i was at (i am as you can tell very anti drugs) One of most psychotic rants i have ever seen in my life.
Personally I think the USA should stop the drug war due to the corrupting influence narcotics money is having on Government institutions. One decade after Reagan declared the "War on Drugs" there had been over 100,000 police officers jailed for receiving payoffs from drug cartels.
Money laundering through Savings & Loans companies caused them to crash and take middle America's money with them. People missed that completely or have forgotten it seems.
many people think decriminalizing recreational drugs is like endorsing recreational use - for me - even though there are good uses, for example marijuana has been shown to help constipation and I think bad cases of diarrhea, the important thing is not if rec drugs are good or bad, but what are we going to do with people caught using them? Jailing them for years is too brutal, for a nonviolent offense, for a crime like overeating that is done to themselves only. w/ Reagan: violent crime is worse.
In my country of Australia as far as I am aware there are laws criminalizing the sale of high volume illicit drugs, but none for using or possessing small quantities. I only know of police arresting people for driving while stoned. The logic of this is:
1.(q) Are drugs a victimless crime ?
2.(A) No, users are victims
3. So why punish the victims ?
Personally I think that the 1920s prohibition was good for no-one but the mobsters and we should decriminalize the lot.
That's a good way to look at it formless777. It's like the victims of obesity - we shouldn't jail them for obesity even if unhealthy. Some drugs are beneficial, I don't doubt. It comes down to individual choice over our bodies. Just like we should get the final say over what can be injected in and surgically removed out of our bodies - so we should be able to make what others may deem poor choices. They want some drug, they should have it. The best we can do is promote sobriety and pleasure.
I think we are very much in accord. I also think that it is pretty demented that there are laws to stop people self-medicating. Are they even remotely enforceable ? No. So lets introduce laws which increase police powers that don't make it more enforceable, but do encourage abuses of power... What a pity sanity isn't as contagious as madness these days :(
Thanks 111oooo I did see "For Want of a High" and that is an interesting tune. Let's work to decriminalize rec. drugs, and to promote sobriety, to stop violence, to teach science, all things intellectual and physical pleasure, and work against all things dishonest, painful and/or violent.
THe one and only me! The drum is similar to an NWA beat. Is that you on handlebars? Are you a musician too? That's a big microphone. I have a bunch of new songs if you just search for ted huntington. take care, people can hear thoughts, peace!
im having a persuasive presentation in about 2 weeks. I chose 'stop the drug war' as the topic. Can u give me more info regarding this matter? As in the important and vital points to persuade people.thx
I would google the web for 'drug war statistics' the doj bjs is where the statistics in this video come from. Ending the prohibition on recreational drugs, or at least stopping the overly harsh prison sentences for those who choose to use recreational drugs is a very good cause. Many are embarrassed by it, but we should not be embarrassed. For many people, the key may be saying 'I'm against drug use, it's locking nonviolent people who use drugs in jail that I'm against.'say how it goes
It's just sick how otherwise law abiding citizens get thrown in prison for taking drugs. It is your choice, and yours alone what you wish to do with your own body, whether it causes harm or not. The only laws we need are laws that follow the principle: Freedom is the right to choose so long as it doesn't impair another mans right to do the same; something along those lines.
right on jipemaster, violence is the big evil, drug use is a person's choice. If we want to stop addiction, only 3 days in jail will dry a person out, not 10 years, damn!
There's some real interesting research into salvia divinorum and using it to get people off addiction. Another good thing about legalising drugs is that mainstream (non-government funded) companies will actually bother putting money into research to get people off addiction (which is the major problem with harder drugs).
Sorry to hear about the suffering you went through by people in police. Yes, McCain is a monster. Something like 60 people were just arrested at San Diego State University for weed. The prohibition is terrible, I hope the public wakes up soon. It's videos like this and others that are going to reach people, although mostly the young people, and it's up to us to vote, speak out, make videos to change this fascist government into a fully democratic open no-secrets government working for the people
nah, the drug prohibition will eventually end, but only after decades more of abuse. We need to stay and make the US educated and humain, not just surrender and go to more freethinking nations. We need to grow science and full democracy to the moon and mars - JFK had started that path, but then the violent criminals like the Bush family murdered JFK, and that ended that progress.
Interesting you should suggest that the Bush family murdered JFK. Considering Bush Snr ran the Dallas branch of the CIA and supplied the ships involved in the Bay of Pigs fiasco I have long regarded him as the number 1 suspect. Clearly he must have enough dirt on people to choke an elephant, and what better way to get it than by killing a President... then becoming one later.
See Hankey's "JFK II", for the Bush Sr. connection to the JFK murder. Bush is mentioned on a Hoover memo the day after the JFK killing - Bush reported directly to Hoover's office on 11/23/1963 in person with another CIA guy - perhaps to intimidate or coordinate with Hoover to make sure he was going to play along with the Oswald story and not go after Frank Fiorini the actual killed of JFK. Because Fiorini would have rolled over on Hunt, and Hunt would roll over on Bush, and Bush on Dullas, etc.
The drug war is a sad thing but the portion about property law is kind of wierd. Specific laws(you'll be arrested if you have drugs in your home) have always priority over general laws (right of property). Anyway, legalization of drugs would be a good thing but it defenitly need some regulation like for pharmaceutical drugs.
This issue about property law is a good point I think - there are thousands of laws, but only letting the public vote directly on them, yes or no, will show which laws rank as the most important. My vote goes for property law over illegal drug law, but not over laws to stop violence.
The rule that says that specific laws have priority over general ones is only "administrative". It's because it would be pointless to make specific law given the fact they're too often in contradiction with other general laws.
Anyway, they should just legalize the drugs. It's not by hiding problems that you gonna solve them. In fact, the criminalization of drugs only gives monney to criminal organizations. Just like the prohibition in the 30s made the mafia incredibly rich.
thanks, the drum is similar to NWA. Nice google video and peace train is a wonderful song. If we got to vote directly on the laws constantly, there probably would be permanent peace.
The anti-drug war candidate, Ron Paul got about 5%, I was hoping for more, still 5% is not bad. It shows we probably have a long way to go until the majority gets smart about the drug war, the federal reserve system, and not only not initiating first strike violence but stopping it and punishing it too. Probably in 50-100 years a person like Paul might get 30-40% and compete with those who say and do nothing about those 3 problems but somehow get massive support.
thanks danyrahova, all over the sphere the belief in jailing drug users is popular. In many nations people are executed simply for owning illegal drugs...the war on illegal drug use is terribly unfair and frightening.
(cont.) Yes, why should we jail people who are only doing what they want to do to themselves, not hurting anybody if even themselves. We don't jail those who are overweight since that is unhealthy. Then, jail drug users for decades? If we just want to stop the addiction that only takes a week. It's vicious and people, in particular those who have ever used an illegal drug need to get smart and stop this prohibition.
Probably the Supercaries use illegal drugs and they shouldn't be jailed for it. It's like obesity and risky hobbies like sky diving....or motorcycle racing. We can tell people: look you might die as a result of your obesity or whatever - but jail them? That is going too far. It sounds hard to argue for, but I tell people to simply say: look drug addiction is bad, but do you jail those who are addicted? no that's too harsh. Or if we do, only for a week until they are sober.
don't please go away from topic :) the clip is made in pro-drug propaganda style, and doesn't reflect real life numbers, exactly like it was in cold war time or for example during iraq war
and I'm not talking about anything else like is it good or bad to use drugs or do we need to change law
No behe58, this is no false info, these are true facts. As shocking as that is to believe. One statistic people reject is the low number of deaths from drug use, that is from a drug used against somebody else not from overdose. Those are real life numbers from the department of justice. I hate propaganda too. Did you know that Pupin figured out how to see thought? That Frank Sturgis killed JFK, that Thane Cesar killed RFK? I mean lying is the number one hobby on Earth!
I am breaking the law because I am putting something in my own body to feel something that I want to feel. I'm not shooting anyone or raping anyong, I am having a good time with myself. I should be able to do what I want to my body despite what anyone thinks about it. It is my body, a law cannot withhold me from living my life the way that I want to.
damn! you are pretty. That neurosoup girl has some good videos too. Ironic that people are jailed for using drugs consensually, but injected with experimental drugs unconsensually in the psych hospitals. You, like many of us, are starting to connect the dots on the idiocy of the tradition that we were born into without knowing it, called the drug war. (cont.)
wen they say drug dealers are all violent it bcuz they cant call the cops and go um ya sum1 just stole my 100,000$ kilo so instead they gotta shoot um and shit wouldnt b laced and it would b put into proper dosages so not as many people od on shit thts easy to like heroin and thered b no fake fucked up xtc
That is kind of funny, and true about the lawless illegal drug market. If the public makes it like alcohol and tobacco, there would be no violence. How often do you see people holding up other people for tobacco and alcohol money?
I mean the Dogs like German Shep's .. Drug raid gone bad dude protecting his stash shot a dog coming at him , dog died pretty much at the scene not after some suffering of course.
True, its like those people in Iraq who are being killed. Somebody is always poor enough to take the money to go to Iraq, to arrest people for drug use, and they are generally poor people who need a job.
Race doesn't matter, we need to lock up the violent and free the nonviolent. Variety is the spice of life. For one thing, there are too many hot chicks from other races to be racist. We should celebrate all the races, there are many within the "white" race itself. Without diversity the human race gets stale.
Ted, You may be interested in knowing that I sent this, along with "Federalist Drug War" and the Asylum Street Spankers "War on Drugs" to our congressman, Brad Ellsworth D IN. He wants to meet with me to discuss drug policy. Most notably he wants me to help him put together a youth media awareness project. This is the most important thing (to me) I have ever done. Thanks for posting this. I think Ellsworh likes that you all had numbers for him.
Hey Terry, that is really good news. A person can be against drug use and against locking people in jail that are addicted to drugs. That is my focus. I tell people not to get addicted to drugs, but if they do, we should not lock them in jail. It should be more like alcohol and tobacco. It takes a strong person to stand up for those addicted to illegal drugs.
But also this issue is about the government getting out of people's lives and letting them make their own choices about their lives so long as nobody else is hurt.
I agree. It says such stuff in the constitution. I'm not really either pro or anti drug use (psychedelics may even be useful). It seems so absurdly stupid to punish one for using drugs, no matter what one thinks them. I think there is such a thing as responsible drug use. I am watching some of your other videos but admittedly, have trouble comprehending parts. Some parts are fascinating. Again, thanks.
Don't worry! You will be the first. Then imnotparanoiditstrue. I thought I joined Youtube to watch old rock and roll videos, and this is what happened.
Awesome, one other last minute point, and I hate to be preachy, but the representatives of the people really ought to simply enact the majority opinion, which is at least 72% that marijuana should be only a fine according to at least one survey I have seen. There is something wrong with the popular opinion is not reflected by law.
Not preachy at all. I appreciate any and all of your input. This whole thing would not have started without you. I've gotten some info from Drug Policy Alliance, Safety1stdotorg, and even Students for a Sensible Drug Policy. Am getting very ready.
Yo ponsuelo420, I'm jus chillin like mohandes dylan, waiting for when I can get to a different star system, because this fool one is so wrong on that drug issue, damn!
Prison stats are rising fast. 715 per 100k you listed for 2003 and that sounds about right, it's up to 750 today according to the International Centre for Prison Studies. 2,245,189 in raw terms.
Hook up with Law Enforcement Against Prohibition too if you haven't already, they also work with the above named groups and co-sponsored the recent international drug policy forum with some of them.
Thanks Drattus. I have heard about LEAP and they are awesome. People in police face the results of prohibition every day: the dangerous and violent illegal market that never would be, the innocent decent people being jailed for decades while violent people get out after a few years. The entire prohibition of recreation drugs thing is terrible.
The drug war is a example of oppression in the extream. If you hold it to be true that everyone owns his or her own body than you can't see it any other way. DEATH TO PROHIBITION! Oh yes, they are war criminals and we will have or revenge SOME DAY!
We must all stand together and vote Libertarian to end the war on drugs. Both Democrats and Republicans have increased the budget for the war on drugs every year. We should also be clear that these war criminals will be punished just like the Nazis were after WW2.
You make a good argument there Nicholai. I think once everybody gets to see those who jailed people for drugs will be frowned upon for their brutal corrupt activities. The public need to wake up and realize that using drugs must be protected as the right to body. Violence to other people is the real crime and the big evil on earth. Wake up public, and get smart, damn!
I think most cops would even say that arresting someone for pot is a waste of their time. And I would say that its a waste of my tax money. I don't support it so why should I have to fund it.
Exit polls show most people voting to keep the drug war going are seniors. They die off more and more each day. Voters 18-35 see the corrupt drug war for the unjust and unconstitutional oppression it is. George Bush would have lost Florida if the Black Males who vote Democrat hadn't lost the right to vote because of "drug" convictions. This is oppression against Liberals and minority ethnicities. I don't use drugs and I'm not a Democrat.
That's good news blahinhawaii. Those are some funny videos you posted. That history of marijuana is funny and damn smart too. The drug war is jailing nonviolent artists when we should be jailing the violent.
The drug war is a farce. A pogrom. We build more prisons than schools now. Primarily due to the war on "some" drugs. It's a war against plants. Plants that are now worth their weight in gold literally. This must end NOW. People need to stand up and demand this end. The truth is out there.
Nicely said phatboyfromla. Everybody comes with that "drugs are bad" argument, and maybe that's true, but jailing those who use drugs is a worse addiction.
prohibition didn't work once and its not working now its time for it to end. I want it to happen in 2008 i think we got a chance with videos like this
Drug Enforcement Agencies, All branches of the judicial system, law enforcement, prison and jail systems, treatment and detox facilities, drug therapists, therapists of the children of drug users, k9 units, whatever that got a job due to illegal drug use or manufacturing or delivering ought to designate a holiday to drug law breakers for providing them with Job Security. What would they do without illegal drug activies? Drug addiction is not a legal issue it is a medical issue which should be dealt with by physicians instead of cops, judges and prison guards.

2) democratize laws: ppl will vote to decrim
tedhuntington 3 years ago
i love it! many more people are addicted to prescription drugs as street drugs. we need to help people with problems, not make their lives living hell.
phloridababe 3 years ago
thanks phloridababe, i'm glad you love it. It's the least I can do when I think about those many millions suffering in prison for drug use. I tell people - don't use drugs, but let's not lock people in jail for years if they do! A person can become unaddicted in a week - but the drug sentences are ridiculously harsh and far outweigh any crime - these are nonviolent activities - and ppl do this to themselves - using drugs is hardly a crime - as overeating - while unhealthy is hardly a crime.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
they did for two reasons, money on both sides of the fence and because the more you concentrate on something, the more it increases. universe just doesnt listen to negatives.

Yeah. Drop acid, not bombs.

well why do we put hard working americans or just plain ol people in jail, in which really the ones we should really trying to put away are the dealers themselves!, and I do not believe marijuana is a drug.
swishagrapE 3 years ago
Thanks for the comment. My view on the dreaded "dealers" is that the analogy is the tobacco and alcohol sellers - your friendly supermercado. Are they terrible people for letting people buy tobacco and alcohol from them - or even the fatty food - knowing that people might use it to fatten themselves into an unhealthy body? Let's lock up the violent I sez, cmon people, for the first time ever on the earth, let's lock up the violent, and free the nonviolent drug users, sellers, and prostitutes.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
0:51, I want a reference for that.
monarofreak 3 years ago
Thanks monarofreak. I am the source on the opinion that "Drug use is a nonviolent crime. Many of the people that use drugs are intellectual...". This is my opinion, but I am not aware of any study that has been performed to determine, for example, the liberal/conservative distribution between those who use drugs and those who put drug users in jail. A Repub admin put forward the mand mins in the US which is evidence that conservs may be more for jailing drug users than Dems.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
Yeah, i am strongly opposed to drug use but after doing a little more research i agree that the action taken by the government is disproportionate to the actual crime and jail time for minor drug offenders is wrong. Not sure if it was in the video but can you tell me the statistics of people in jail for minor drug offences?
monarofreak 3 years ago
I used the US Department of Justice data which is on the Internet. I think there may be bureau of prisons data too. But we really need to examine the prisons and see why people are there, examine their sentences in proportion to each other, etc.
I think many people can agree that drug addiction like obesity is probably not good, but the big issue in my mind is: what do we do to ppl who use drugs? I vote against locking them in jail - or certainly for anything more than a few days if that.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
Yeah i mainly wanted to know the numbers of minor drug offenders to see how many are in there. If i was president or prime minister for a day i'd whack them with a $1500 fine with the revenue from those fines going to proper clinical treatment for drug addicts
monarofreak 3 years ago
Imho, this strongly depends on the type of drug. Addictive stimulants for example may cause some violence while psychedelics definitely not.
Kamahl90 3 years ago
You ever seen a dude flip out on LSD??? I did at this party i was at (i am as you can tell very anti drugs) One of most psychotic rants i have ever seen in my life.

Personally I think the USA should stop the drug war due to the corrupting influence narcotics money is having on Government institutions. One decade after Reagan declared the "War on Drugs" there had been over 100,000 police officers jailed for receiving payoffs from drug cartels.
Money laundering through Savings & Loans companies caused them to crash and take middle America's money with them. People missed that completely or have forgotten it seems.
formless777 3 years ago
many people think decriminalizing recreational drugs is like endorsing recreational use - for me - even though there are good uses, for example marijuana has been shown to help constipation and I think bad cases of diarrhea, the important thing is not if rec drugs are good or bad, but what are we going to do with people caught using them? Jailing them for years is too brutal, for a nonviolent offense, for a crime like overeating that is done to themselves only. w/ Reagan: violent crime is worse.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
In my country of Australia as far as I am aware there are laws criminalizing the sale of high volume illicit drugs, but none for using or possessing small quantities. I only know of police arresting people for driving while stoned. The logic of this is:
1.(q) Are drugs a victimless crime ?
2.(A) No, users are victims
3. So why punish the victims ?
Personally I think that the 1920s prohibition was good for no-one but the mobsters and we should decriminalize the lot.
formless777 3 years ago
That's a good way to look at it formless777. It's like the victims of obesity - we shouldn't jail them for obesity even if unhealthy. Some drugs are beneficial, I don't doubt. It comes down to individual choice over our bodies. Just like we should get the final say over what can be injected in and surgically removed out of our bodies - so we should be able to make what others may deem poor choices. They want some drug, they should have it. The best we can do is promote sobriety and pleasure.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
I think we are very much in accord. I also think that it is pretty demented that there are laws to stop people self-medicating. Are they even remotely enforceable ? No. So lets introduce laws which increase police powers that don't make it more enforceable, but do encourage abuses of power... What a pity sanity isn't as contagious as madness these days :(

JUMPSTYLESUCKBALLS 3 years ago
Hi JSSB,
I would google the web for 'drug war statistics' the doj bjs is where the statistics in this video come from. Ending the prohibition on recreational drugs, or at least stopping the overly harsh prison sentences for those who choose to use recreational drugs is a very good cause. Many are embarrassed by it, but we should not be embarrassed. For many people, the key may be saying 'I'm against drug use, it's locking nonviolent people who use drugs in jail that I'm against.'say how it goes
tedhuntington 3 years ago
It's just sick how otherwise law abiding citizens get thrown in prison for taking drugs. It is your choice, and yours alone what you wish to do with your own body, whether it causes harm or not. The only laws we need are laws that follow the principle: Freedom is the right to choose so long as it doesn't impair another mans right to do the same; something along those lines.
jipemaster 3 years ago
right on jipemaster, violence is the big evil, drug use is a person's choice. If we want to stop addiction, only 3 days in jail will dry a person out, not 10 years, damn!
tedhuntington 3 years ago
There's some real interesting research into salvia divinorum and using it to get people off addiction. Another good thing about legalising drugs is that mainstream (non-government funded) companies will actually bother putting money into research to get people off addiction (which is the major problem with harder drugs).
jipemaster 3 years ago
The "war on drugs" will get even worse if McCain wins. Just look him up on the issues.
Nicholai420 3 years ago
Sorry to hear about the suffering you went through by people in police. Yes, McCain is a monster. Something like 60 people were just arrested at San Diego State University for weed. The prohibition is terrible, I hope the public wakes up soon. It's videos like this and others that are going to reach people, although mostly the young people, and it's up to us to vote, speak out, make videos to change this fascist government into a fully democratic open no-secrets government working for the people
tedhuntington 3 years ago
move to holland. mccain has no influence on the policies of drugs there.
KFDonny 3 years ago
nah, the drug prohibition will eventually end, but only after decades more of abuse. We need to stay and make the US educated and humain, not just surrender and go to more freethinking nations. We need to grow science and full democracy to the moon and mars - JFK had started that path, but then the violent criminals like the Bush family murdered JFK, and that ended that progress.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
Interesting you should suggest that the Bush family murdered JFK. Considering Bush Snr ran the Dallas branch of the CIA and supplied the ships involved in the Bay of Pigs fiasco I have long regarded him as the number 1 suspect. Clearly he must have enough dirt on people to choke an elephant, and what better way to get it than by killing a President... then becoming one later.
formless777 3 years ago
See Hankey's "JFK II", for the Bush Sr. connection to the JFK murder. Bush is mentioned on a Hoover memo the day after the JFK killing - Bush reported directly to Hoover's office on 11/23/1963 in person with another CIA guy - perhaps to intimidate or coordinate with Hoover to make sure he was going to play along with the Oswald story and not go after Frank Fiorini the actual killed of JFK. Because Fiorini would have rolled over on Hunt, and Hunt would roll over on Bush, and Bush on Dullas, etc.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
The drug war is a sad thing but the portion about property law is kind of wierd. Specific laws(you'll be arrested if you have drugs in your home) have always priority over general laws (right of property). Anyway, legalization of drugs would be a good thing but it defenitly need some regulation like for pharmaceutical drugs.
sentenced988 3 years ago
This issue about property law is a good point I think - there are thousands of laws, but only letting the public vote directly on them, yes or no, will show which laws rank as the most important. My vote goes for property law over illegal drug law, but not over laws to stop violence.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
The rule that says that specific laws have priority over general ones is only "administrative". It's because it would be pointless to make specific law given the fact they're too often in contradiction with other general laws.
Anyway, they should just legalize the drugs. It's not by hiding problems that you gonna solve them. In fact, the criminalization of drugs only gives monney to criminal organizations. Just like the prohibition in the 30s made the mafia incredibly rich.
sentenced988 3 years ago
kind of catchy tune.
Picaro1 3 years ago
thanks, the drum is similar to NWA. Nice google video and peace train is a wonderful song. If we got to vote directly on the laws constantly, there probably would be permanent peace.
tedhuntington 3 years ago
Great video! When will the spineless politicians grow a pair and repeal the draconian drug laws.
y2knoproblem 4 years ago
The anti-drug war candidate, Ron Paul got about 5%, I was hoping for more, still 5% is not bad. It shows we probably have a long way to go until the majority gets smart about the drug war, the federal reserve system, and not only not initiating first strike violence but stopping it and punishing it too. Probably in 50-100 years a person like Paul might get 30-40% and compete with those who say and do nothing about those 3 problems but somehow get massive support.

danyrahova 4 years ago
(cont.) Yes, why should we jail people who are only doing what they want to do to themselves, not hurting anybody if even themselves. We don't jail those who are overweight since that is unhealthy. Then, jail drug users for decades? If we just want to stop the addiction that only takes a week. It's vicious and people, in particular those who have ever used an illegal drug need to get smart and stop this prohibition.
tedhuntington 4 years ago
Well, the guy who made it should work for the Georg W Bush office, one side of face doesn't mean that the other one doesn't exist
Where's the numbers of amounts of people death because of drug traffic connection or street pushing? Amounts of heroin addicts, and results of it?
behe58 4 years ago
Probably the Supercaries use illegal drugs and they shouldn't be jailed for it. It's like obesity and risky hobbies like sky diving....or motorcycle racing. We can tell people: look you might die as a result of your obesity or whatever - but jail them? That is going too far. It sounds hard to argue for, but I tell people to simply say: look drug addiction is bad, but do you jail those who are addicted? no that's too harsh. Or if we do, only for a week until they are sober.
tedhuntington 4 years ago
don't please go away from topic :) the clip is made in pro-drug propaganda style, and doesn't reflect real life numbers, exactly like it was in cold war time or for example during iraq war
and I'm not talking about anything else like is it good or bad to use drugs or do we need to change law
I just hate dumb propoganda
behe58 4 years ago
No behe58, this is no false info, these are true facts. As shocking as that is to believe. One statistic people reject is the low number of deaths from drug use, that is from a drug used against somebody else not from overdose. Those are real life numbers from the department of justice. I hate propaganda too. Did you know that Pupin figured out how to see thought? That Frank Sturgis killed JFK, that Thane Cesar killed RFK? I mean lying is the number one hobby on Earth!
tedhuntington 4 years ago
I am breaking the law because I am putting something in my own body to feel something that I want to feel. I'm not shooting anyone or raping anyong, I am having a good time with myself. I should be able to do what I want to my body despite what anyone thinks about it. It is my body, a law cannot withhold me from living my life the way that I want to.

TerryOlinger 4 years ago
Hey Terry, that is really good news. A person can be against drug use and against locking people in jail that are addicted to drugs. That is my focus. I tell people not to get addicted to drugs, but if they do, we should not lock them in jail. It should be more like alcohol and tobacco. It takes a strong person to stand up for those addicted to illegal drugs.
tedhuntington 4 years ago
But also this issue is about the government getting out of people's lives and letting them make their own choices about their lives so long as nobody else is hurt.
tedhuntington 4 years ago

Awesome, one other last minute point, and I hate to be preachy, but the representatives of the people really ought to simply enact the majority opinion, which is at least 72% that marijuana should be only a fine according to at least one survey I have seen.

Death2Prohibition 4 years ago
We must all stand together and vote Libertarian to end the war on drugs. Both Democrats and Republicans have increased the budget for the war on drugs every year. We should also be clear that these war criminals will be punished just like the Nazis were after WW2.
Nicholai420 4 years ago
You make a good argument there Nicholai. I think once everybody gets to see those who jailed people for drugs will be frowned upon for their brutal corrupt activities. The public need to wake up and realize that using drugs must be protected as the right to body. Violence to other people is the real crime and the big evil on earth. Wake up public, and get smart, damn!

The drug war is a farce. A pogrom. We build more prisons than schools now. Primarily due to the war on "some" drugs. It's a war against plants. Plants that are now worth their weight in gold literally. This must end NOW. People need to stand up and demand this end. The truth is out there.
