Pik. Thanks. Why do you like Cheney so much? I personally think Obama is dping a great job too, like George did. I think the two men have genuine respect for each other. Their styles are different - I think George is more charismatic. Obama is a bit like Gore to my mind - wooden. However both Gore and Obama have good minds. I think hat Gore's ideas on global warming are great.

Pik. I know what you mean. I think Obama is very image concious too. I wish he would show us the real man and share his true thoughts with us. I too think Obama is to guarded in his approach. His is just a bit too smooth - sort of like Ben Affleck. National safety is very important - as long as it doesn't sacrifice the safety of other countries. I think the US can make itself safe without being seen as being a threat by others.

sparta. I don't seem to remember any speeches from George Bush either. From my perspetive, he was quite a good president. I can think of quite a few presidents who would have plunged us into world war. Such a war would have involved the USA on a collision course with the Muslim world plus Russia and Chinese, and possibly a large part of Europe, Asia and Africa. That would not have been nice. He avoided that, thank God.

sparta. It seems that the world seems to have to be continually "entertained" with a war going on somewhere. I guess it is better to have a small way like Afghanistan, where one or two are being killed each day, rather than a showdown like Operation Bagration, where two huge countries face each other, and if one advances a little, about one million men lose their lives over a month.

odale. I agree. I really liked President Bush. He was never a vindictive man. Can you imagine what some of the other presidents like the Roosevelts, Eisenhower or Truman would have done in this position. They wouldn't have just "laughed it off". These types were always out for revenge. George Bush certainly made the world a better place to live in. History will be kind to him. The truth always comes out in the long run.
