I early voted too and am really glad that I did!!! We had touchscreen here over the past few years and now we're back to paper. I know that there are theories about both but I'm just hoping that they all actually COUNT here in FL!...we're kind of the voting laughing stock. Sounds like Illinois really has it down though which is good!!!
Paper is far better because if the result is close, they can do a proper recount. With a touchscreen, that's impossible. You can still have a machine to count the paper votes, so it's still using technology to a certain extent.
"Readout," *not* "printout." No hard copy available, eh?
Did you know that *all* of the manufacturers of Direct Recording Equipment (DRE) are Republicans? Did you know that *all* documented cases of vote flipping by DRE machines are from Democratic candidates to Republican candidates? Gee, I wonder if those two facts are connected in any way...
Here in the 63rd of DuPage we use optical scan ballots. At least there's a paper trail after the election is over.
It was a paper tape - so it was a printout, but not that I could rip off and take with me... I said readout because it was a tape printout that I could only read to confirm my vote. Sorry for the confusion, Marty!
