Were Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller, the same legendary songwriters, still associated with Elkie at the time? They both worked with her as producers for a few years.

At 16 I fell in love with Elkie Brooks,!! All my mates were into Suzy Quatro & Kate Bush... I had a celler decked out under mums house as a disco/teen hide out! Had all the flashing lights & stuff, my friends loved to visit me as I had the coolest place to hang out for a 16yr old. I will never forget the big Elkie Brooks banner from the album Shooting Star I had on the wall that I got from Virgin Records in Bristol UK. It was in the back waiting to be put in the trash. So many memories :-)

it's a funny thing to say, but i think her power derives from her restraint. she keeps it tight and moving along- but hey maybe that's the best (only) response to heartbreak. in other words, Don't Cry Out Loud

Saw her live last night and as always she never fails to make it personal. I know it's true but it's so hard to believe that she has been entertaining for 50 years. I used to think you had to behave yourself when you got to 65 but thanks to this lady ageing has been redefined. Fantastic.
