  • Also, ZONA is back in case anyone is blind to what is going on over there with recruiting. I hope KU/Zona together can once again be the powers outside the east coast. Imagine these two teams THIS YEAR. Wow. I would hope this would be the National Title game as it should have been that year. What a game.

Arizona will be better than KU this year and I hope they knock out UK/UNC or someone of the like...like Duke last year. I have always had respect for Zona as a KU diehard.

  • What a great game. You run into this unless you are UNC in 2009. No matter how good you are, you WILL have to squeak out a victory. Had KU won this...nobody would have stopped them. That was probably the best team KU has ever fielded. Vaughn/Pierce/Williams/Hasse/Robertson guard combination, and LaFrentz and Pollard down low. Pretty hard to beat. But Arizona had Olsen and were loaded as well and they were FEARLESS and played REMARKABLE. I'm still hurt! AZ earned this banner. --KU fan.

  • i still dont like M. Bibby sry...

  • foamposites!

  • are there 7 nba players in this game that is insane.

  • and Scot Pollard!

  • Actually, the KU loss the next year was in some ways even worse. LaFrentz and Pierce both came back, they win over 30 games again and lose to Rhode Island in OK City. And to a Jim Harrick coached team to boot. At least the AZ loss was to the eventual National Champions.

  • @tomymtnman

That Rhode Island team was good. Didn't they have Lamar Odom, Cuttino Mobley, and Tyson Wheeler?

  • Jason Terry (the guy at the end) is my cousin he plays for the Dallas mavericks and I love Dallas

  • Jason Terry ( the guy at the end) is my cousin he plays for the Dallas mavericks and I love dallas

  • Man these two teams would rape any college basketball teams that played today. That Kansas Jayhawks team was stacked with talent Paul Pierce, Raef Lafrentz, Jaque Vaughn. And then you have an Arizona Team with Miles Simon, Mike Bibby, Michael Dickerson, and Jason Terry.

  • what happened to Miles Simon, he was so good

  • alot of nba talent n this game. paul pierce, mike bibby, jason terry, scott pollard just to name a few

  • This is some good basketball

  • so many nba guys played in this game

  • lotta highlights for the team that lost...

  • Yes AZ beat 3 #1 seeds that year, but the next year they would return to their usual choking ways, losing as the #1 seed in the elite by by 25 points to #3 seed Utah, theu Ute's biggest margin of victory in 5 tourney wins that year.

  • Strange video... 90% Kansas highlights (including made free thows?) from a game that Kansas lost. The no. 1 seed goes down to Arizona, who went on to become the only team that's ever beaten 3 no. 1 seeds to win the NCAA chamionship. KU has a great tradition and history, but I'm not sure what you're celebrating here... great plays in a losing effort? In this game there were actually more great plays by Arizona... which is why they won! GO WILDCATS!

  • As Roy would say at game's end, " We just didn't friggin' play". U of A did not get KU's best shot that day.

  • U OF A ! U OF A !

  • Bibby and Vaughn were sooo sick

  • BEAR DOWN Arizona!

  • 13 yrs later and Biddy (ATL) is terrorizing Pierce (BOS) once again. how crazy is that???

  • that's probably the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

  • mike bibby truely one of the cats most valued players and paul pierce ku's historic tradition

  • As far as talent this squad was better than the 08 championship team.

  • obviously

  • I'm not so sure about this. Brandon Rush, Mario Chalmers, Darnell Jackson, and Darrel Arthur all play in the NBA. Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich with both be in the NBA very soon. Sasha Kaun ran the floor as well as any big man and could be playing in the NBA very soon. The '08 team had a ton of talent. They didn't have anybody as good as Pierce or Lafrentz individually, but overall talent was similar.

  • i still have a hard time watching this. i will always remember this loss.

  • Two awesome basketball schools

  • Painful, painful loss, but it's less painful now that the Hawks have won another championship!

  • they had to wait 20 years for it

  • almost 13 years later and this is my most painful sports memory ever.

  • arizona arizona YAY!

  • @nuttyhawk3 Ah dont worry about it, KU sent AZ home the year before and got a nice measure of revenge also in the elite 8 in 2003.

  • hate kansas

  • love the cats

  • One of the best games ever!!!

  • rock chalk championship

  • Terry Dickerson Simon and Bibby baby

  • Kansas suck!

  • Give it up guy. It's been over a year and Chalmers' shot is still going to go in.

  • my top 5 dat i remember from AZ

    -96-97

-99-00-j.terry pac 10 player of the year

-00-01-went to the champ but lost to duke

    -03-04

-04-05-lost a memorable game to illinois but i aint mad luther head, d-will and dee brown illinois should of won that year but its ku!

  • What's the name of the song starting at 2.25? The first one is MF Doom, "sarsaparilla", but what's the name of the second one??

    Thanks everybody!

  • i forget, but they all come from that MF doom special herbs vol.1 through whatever

  • @faglenin The last one is called Vinca Rosea

  • at 2:39 I'm surprised that Paul Pierce didn't need a wheelchair.

  • Comment removed

  • The song IS by MF Doom and is called "Sarsaparilla." Great song, ok video only because K U highlights dominate. Rock Chalk!

  • Mike Bibby Miles Simon Jason Terry Michael Dickerson, 1 of the grearest Backcourts ever in College Hoops dats real talk

  • That was KU's best team ever. Kansas might have won if Lafrentz didn't throw the ball away. 2:17

  • That squad was the best jayhawks team ever

  • For some reason, I loved the 2001-2002 team they were pretty bad ass

    Even over the 2007-2008 team?

top 5 ku teams not in any order that i remember watching

    - 1996-1997

    - 2007-2008

    - 2001-2002

    - 1997-1998

    - 2006-2007

  • This game had a crap ton of NBA players. Headlined by Scot Pollard, of course.

  • lol

  • if jason terry's your back-up PG your team is good

  • F*** the wildcats go Jhawks! beeech

  • WOOT go WILDCATZZZ!!

  • Lopsided video toward Kansas. You lost homer.

  • pierce played him like a cornerback at 4.20

  • Look! A Champ!

  • The 97 Kansas team was the greatest college team ever assembled. It's too bad Roy was their coach or they would've went all the way.

  • ya I agree. funny though, cause they were talking back then about how guys were leaving early and collge basketball being watered down

  • Wow,..Real college basketball. Remember when their where actually great teams? Not players? Guys that actually stayed around, to win Nat'l championships? I dont blame them for leaving early, well, at least some of them, but man I miss that...

  • I miss it too. Those were some great teams to watch. For me the worst moment was when Gilbert Arenas left Arizona early. I am 100% sure if he had not, they would have won another championship. He did not get a lot of press in college, but he was awesome. (ok, maybe 99% sure and 1% "oh God please!")

  • @HolleyWood11 Well a couple of the stars of that game left college early. Mike Bibby after his soph. year and Paul Pierce after his jr. year.

  • YO Jaque Vaughn was sweet back then and paul was insane at the same level or better than durant in college i think. And the instrumental is sick i like those types of songs

  • damn, how good was UofA too beat a team that had 5 NBA players in its starting lineup? Prove me wrong you tools I couldn't care less...we won

  • What song is that in the background? Really cool....

  • It's an instrumental by MF Doom, I think maybe it's the Mm...Food album but I can't remember, I could try and find the cd somewhere in my collection but I'm too lazy...

  • DOWNLOAD LIINK?!

  • Bear Down Arizona! Miles Simon is no longer an assistant coach, niether is Josh Pastner. They both left this past year because of obvious reasons. Congrats to Kansas this past year being the champs!

  • Arguably the best Kansas basketball team ever.

  • lol, jason terry at the endxD

  • You should seriously see PP now! All star and everything!

  • you need to make a mixture of the 2008 champs with the same music when you get some time--it would be greatly appreciated

  • Great Arizona Highlight! Looks like a Kansas highlight till the end. Great run to the Championship in '97! We beat 3 #1's, Kansas with Vaughn and Pierce, UNC with Cota and Carter, and a Great defending Champion Kentucky team that was LOADED!

  • wow very nice, thanks man. all i can say is Paul Pierce baby!

    nice music btw!

  • Miles Simon is now an assistant coach at U of A

  • i loved that arizona team...i remember watching them play with my dad when i was little. one question tho: what happened to simon?

  • what is that song?

  • I actually strung together 3 from a set put together by MF Doom. The set is called Special Herbs and it has about 70 beats more or less like these and all of the tracks are named after differents herbs or remedies or whatever. The 3 that I used are "Emblica Officinalis" "Saffron" and "Galangal Root."

  • dude i've just downloaded four vols of that special herbs. it's lovely, so thanks for promoting that.

anyway, i don't think it's really Emblica Officinalis, or at least version on youtube sounds different. please could you double check that.
