Couple quick questions (1) How often/necessary is it to break down the slide like you did here and clean the parts? Will the gun "indicate" when it's time and what problem will it show to indicate that need. (2) Once the firing pin is out, is it ok to soak, dip, brush liberally the slide in a solvent to clean good that rear area (where it's so hard to clean under those two buttons underneath and it usually always stays gunky. (3) when should you go all the way & break down extractor and clean.?
Excellent video, I was having trouble finding a resource to change firing pin spring after watching this I had it done in less than 10 minutes. Thank you for a great video lesson.
Thank you with your video i was able to clean my 4506 which was in great need of it could not find anything on line to help but your video brought back to life a really nice gun
Just bought my first .45acp - a retired 4506-1. it shoots like a dream, And with your videos, I just got through following you step by step and thouroughly cleaned it. I really like knowing my weapons inside and out, and these videos did that for me.
Just finished my 4516 using your videos and I could not have done it without these. You deserve big time recognition for these because for us die hard 3rd gen Smith fans your videos are better than gold! Thanks a million man! Fantastic job!
Just purchased a LE 4006TSW and there are NO I repeat NO instructions on the web on how to break down. Your video's were a excellent help allowing me to detail strip and clean. Much Much thanks.........
I'm glad I saw this. I wanted to replace the firing pin spring on my 20 year old 4506 as well as the main spring. I'll have to watch again, however! Good job.
