A tip for your videos. Stop saying uhhh. Really hard to watch, because of the annoying uhh sound. I would write down a script as you rehearse one time. Then, go into the video KNOWING what you're going to say, so you don't annoy the audience unintentionally.
typical sheet size is 8ft x 4 ft, price depends on thinkness... if you want a large tank you could buy a sheet on 10-12mm and cut it 2ft of the end to leave you with 6x4 sheet then cut it into thirds lenghways then you will have 3 @ 6x1.3ish. make those your base and sides. cut the 2x4ft piece that you inicially cut off and use it for the ends. a 8x4 @ 10mm is roughly AU $300. + cutting and a bottle of weldon 4. you probably looking at 400. not a bad price for a 6ft tank
Sanding dulls it...It's best to flame it, and it REALLY helps to polish it afterwards with a cloth, or better yet a buffer wheel to get it as clear as the whole sheet.
Don't use propane. Use map gas. Just sayin.

Is it ok to flame polish>sand > then weld??
wighti1 10 months ago
@wighti1 No. You can weld after sanding, but you should not weld after polishing. Doing so causes a lot of crazing.(small cracks in the acrylic)

What about Oxy-Acetylene?
danxl5 10 months ago
@danxl5 That would work as well.

My router sill leaves small little lines in the acrylic. Do i sand it before welding it?

@Arteolike
Yes. You can take the back of a blade and pull it across the rough side. Insure you are scraping it, and not digging into it.

Does the finish come out better if I lightly sand the plexi first?
