It's also important to remember that when a lot of these songs came out there were as many competing versions on the charts as there were record companies, each seeking the top of the charts. This practice continued up until the late 50s on the pop charts and held over through the 60s in the duplicating repertoires of many of the last of the 'old school' EZY Listening singers who vainly sought one last time on the charts before Rock and Roll buried them forever.
Nicest thing about this one is hearing the 'old' intro verse which are routinely excised from many of the old standards. you'd be surprised how many classics you THINK you know that are incomplete [I.E. 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' by Yip Harburg or 'Always' by Irving Berlin).
Thank you for vote of confidence Iocohoya.....Some songs belong to one singer only and cannot be matched by anyone else. Nat King Cole owns "Unforgettable". Frank Sinatra owns "My Way". Dean Martin owns "Everybody Loves Somebody". Johnny Mathis owns "Chances Are". Tommy Edwards owns "It's all in the Game"...etc etc...But I think Frank Ifield owns this song "I Remember You"...H1delta, give Frank Ifield a friggen bone on this one.
Very Nice....BUT....As much as I like Nat, I think Frank Ifield's version is better. It hit #1 on the UK charts in 1962 for 7 weeks. Slim Whitman did a similar yodeling version after Frank's. Song was actually written in 1941 by Johnny Mercer. It's on YouTube, check it out.
@Brando0307 I'm with you on this. Come on, 007. You can't be serious. You're comparing Ifield to NKC? Even your boss M would disagree with you on this.
Another great song from the master. I`ve just subbed your channel and we seem to have the same interests, so I`m going back to check out the rest. Thanks for another gem 5*****+ a fav.
2 people will never be remembered.

I like Nat's version and I like Slim Whitman's version of this song. 2 different styles, but both men sung it exceptionally well.

This is the absolute best version of this song. Nat King Cole sang it to perfection and the arrangement is beautiful. Lovely clips of Tahiti too...
