art was art for beauty's sake then not today's degenerate neo-conceptual installment bullshit: rows of bricks, sealed tins of the artist's faeces, Christ on a cross in a jar of urine, random Rorschach splodges, stained glass windows inlaid with pornographic images mocking the public+INTENTIONALLY bleak, demoralising, meaningless, disjointed, ugly public sculpture commissioned at prohibitive cost to US & lining the pockets of their talentless Cultural Marxist-driven 'artist' Brethren/Eastern Star
i fell in love with Jane Morris (one of Rossetti's models) when i was a schoolboy.i haven't seen any of these paintings since i was 16.i'd forgotten how beautiful they are..........sigh.
i just uploaded a video of an oil painting that took me 5 months to finish.
i would like to get some feedback on it. so if everyone that reads this could check it out and let me know what you think it would help me out! the video is called -- monumental oil painting- from start to finish. thanks everyone!
This painting is called "Oh, what's that in the hollow ...?" by Edward Robert Hughes
It was an illustration to Christina Rossetti's poem 'Amor Mundi', in which two lovers, pursuing the easy downhill path of worldly pleasure, encouter warning portents, including a corpse: 'Oh, what's that in the hollow, so pale I quake to follow?'
'Oh, that's a thin dead body which waits the eternal term'.
Thank you for your help identifying the artist and name of the piece. It has the feel of being the male counter part to John Everett Millais - Ophelia.
The Pre-Raphaelites granted their audence a much better insight into what was more valuable and necessary, from a viewer's prospect I have found this distinctive form of art a great advantage.
One does find it easier to focus on the main attribute of the paintings, whilst trying to conjure up a full interpretation of the scene's depicted.
Evocative, compelling, wonderfully paced, full of grace, charm, and echoes of a mystical past.....I loved it! Thank you for the posting. Could you please post who is performing the music starting at 3:10

Maravillosas pinturas, me encanta el movimiento prerrafaelista y su preferencia por pintar al aire libre y captar el color y la luz al natural.
Gracias por este hermoso vídeo Gil.

i'm curious, because england is a protestant country but they
reproduced human figures. that era when industrial society
began is very interesting to know. there is a new things to
represent with colors and images. you have eyes to show
