Also my limiter said I did it wrong :o perhaps upload a tutorial about "musical cutting" as you called it? Also how do you know which frequencies to associate with which notes? the internet? lol
This is just about my first time hearing any of this, despite months of logic use (self-taught). I was curious though, I didn't understand the compression at the end, and also whenever I set the gain on the mid bass to Mono it has a phaser-like sound effect that I can't hear on your instrument.
@ChaX424 Sup buddy! It's not so much the type of sound wave that matters. A general "rule" to go by is to keep lower frequencies, that you want to stay punchy like some bass and most kicks, in mono. Reason being most live sound is done in mono. If you had a true stereo bass playing through a true stereo system it may sound good in the middle of a room, but not so good on the left and right sides of the room. Just remember that lower frequencies retain more punch in mono and you'll be good to go.
i have made a paparazzi remix and its on my soundcloud. it would be awesome if you could check it out and let me know what you think. i havn't mastered it yet or really done a tonnnn of mixing, but its basically done. lits at soundcloud (DOT) come (SLASH) julianbh this vid is great by the way. so helpful !!!
@dojodin thanks man. its still kinda a work in progress. im thinking about moving the bigger drop first to keep the listener more interested. this is the internet of course. people get bored pretty easy haha
Nice tutorial, but i did not get the last part abut the side chain thing. You put a compressor on the sub and side chain from what surce? And also the settings on the comressor??
@torbis75 Yeah, I had meant to go into more detail about that. I just messed around with the settings until it sounded tighter. Both are being triggered by a duplicate kick drum track (the same one you hear). If you send me your email I can send you a pic of the different settings. Thanks for watching!
@Stephenxs The first time heard what a sample delay did I was super stoked. Most DAWs should have a sample delay or a "grain" delay so double check. Thanks for watching and be sure to check out and subscribe to the blog kickbassbounce [dot] com
it not a bass, its a deep lead sound
