Im interested of studying this style. I took judo and now im taking MMA. I feel something is lacking in mma tho. I cant seem to find a school for this school in the Los angeles area. I just want to learn every art as it will help me to become a better person.lol
@Socko84 the worst thing you could do is learn every art, youd end up not being able to do anything properly. All you need is full contct striking art, wrestling and submissions. No art will make you better person, only you can do that.Theres virtually no kudo in america, eastern europe and japan mostly.Kudo is mma in a gi,the head defense is almost non existant though due to the helmet. Its a fun style though without the cuts and bruises on your face.
@GetitUnderCool if you were to fight without the heaguard you have to spend some time adapting to the lack of head protection,if you watch kudo fights they dont defend the head well due to the mask.
@vladito93 Kyokushin is an intergral part of Kudo teachings, to call one nothing you call both nothing. If it were not for kyokushin there would never be Kudo.
@vladito93 Personaly, I have a shodan foundation in shotokan karate and a shodan-bo in tang soo do as well as a purple rank in BJJ we train and study in kudo mma style and I have to say, kyokushin is a pretty bad ass fighting art that would make for a great foundation into kudo. just my personal oppinoin though. USO! have a great holliday season.
the head gear is awesome a rep came to our gym and i got to try it on, THEY FOG UP LIKE A BITCH THO haha. but u get to really punch someone in the face with them
Seems to be a rather curious art in a somewhat neither-here-nor-there sort of way. The uniforms and mannerisms seem to be borrowed from karate, but most of it seems to be kickboxing-based with bits of MMA thrown in.
i disagree with you. Techniques they use for striking are kyokushin based with, perhaps, slight variations commanded by allowed head strikes. The grappling part as well as transitions are from judo. So all-and-all it is a form of MMA.
The Headgear is a training tool to allow students to train allot harder without the risk of facial injuries. It does impair vision and breathing a bit but I think the pros out weight the cons.
the problem with the face shield is that it does nothing for your defence if you ever fight without it.Youll never be a good kickboxer or boxer if you always wear it.
i know,i have been knocked out with one.I just cant defend the head with it on,your peripheral vision is restricted and it makes a bigger target for the opponent. Its way too easy to hit the head with it on.Nobody guards the head in kudo.
The face guard protects your face from any cuts or bruises, but still allows KOs, a blow taken straight onto it will sure be less effective tha without the helmet, but you'll still have the impact upon your head an neck.
@iqwaxzi :..it is very clear!.the kata is their but, if you mean the traditional KATA'S sorry, the KUDO don't have it..remember KATA means FORMS. That's why i love KUDO, the REAL ONE!!.my two hands salute to Shihan Takashi Azuma, the Founder.
Almost similar to Krav Maga but more inproved.

@billysue2 so, learning kudo would leave my face too exposed to attacks?

@scarred10 well, years ago sparring with my brother in law i had this problem, a too low guard, but after
a punch in the nose i learned to tighten it! now i'm quite out of shape so i think i have to re-learn many things
but that punch is still carved in my memory, so, i do'nt want a low guard

Use shaving cream on the inside to reduce fogging. Same trick works on mirrors after a hot shower.

Daido Juku and Ashihara karate in my opinion are the best fighting styles to come out of kyokushin and in many ways are even better than kyokushin.
