  • shame he had to use the words....Phillip Schofield knew the words to theme tunes.

  • Andy Crane has got no brain.

  • the leg-end of Andy Crane

  • It's like I've been sent back in time

  • omgggg

  • back when children's presenters looked like pedos

  • I used to love Around The World with Willy Fogg!

  • I also saw this live. Used to watch CBBC everyday with Andy Crane. Legend

  • I also saw this live. Used to watch CBBC every day with Any Crane, legend

  • What is this

    I don't even

  • Happy National Willy Fog Day!

  • This was brilliant!

  • bloody ell forgot about this guy lol childrens tv was great in them days

  • I watched this go out live, it was great and so were the cartoons of the time, mysterious cities of gold, dogtanian, all cartoons with a proper story

  • OMG I'd forgotten Andy Crane until I saw him mentioned on a Schofield vid! He's really getting into this isn't he, I think I remember having a crush on him ! I was very sad when he left (and when Schofield left!)

  • Back when presenters didn;t mind having a bit of fun and not being afraid to put themselves at risk of humiliating themselves. Children's BBC's golden age.

  • If your interested Mr Crane now has a Sunday slot on Greater Manchester Radio!

  • Haha! I remember Andy singing to Willy Fogg, and Phillip's *ahem* singing along to Ulysees 31! Who else remembers Andi Peters and Ed the duck singing along to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (and the odd "Teenage Mutant Hero Potatoes" skit)?

They don't make kids TV Presenters like they used to!

  • this theme tune always made me a bit sad!

  • OMG andy crane!!!!!

  • Grasues von cessi rozziano.

  • Respect to Andy Crane for trying to sing the theme!

  • How do you find clips like this?? It does take me back though, the 80's were the best for cartoons and tv shows. Back then you felt passion was put into every cartoon and show made, He-man, Transformers, Thundercats, Bravestarr, Count Duckula, Mask, Cities of gold, Ulysees, Knightmare, Fun house...i can go on forever with this list. Plus slightly more adult shows, Airwolf, A team, Street Hawk... t.v today is crap in compared to 80's.

  • @roche1983 no, it wasn't Heathcliffe, I did some research and found it to be called Scragtag's tea time telly it only ran for 12 episodes or so

  • Nice jumper, Craney!

  • Andy Crane now presents Channel M News (Channel M is a Manchester TV station available on some digital channels)

  • he seemed a nice guy that Andy Crane

does anyone know what became of him post Bad influence?

  • THUNDERCATS! WHOOOOOAHH!!!!!! :oD

Sadly (for Andy), I reckon Schofield would TAKE him in a battle of singing OR fists.

And Gordon The Gopher would demolish "The Duck" in a contest of charisma. But I'm worried he'd get pecked to death in a real fight... :o(

  • JacobYellow - no fear, the Gopher would grip the ducks beak and squeeze the life out of the little git!

    GORDEN FOREVER! : )

  • I agree.........

Andy wasn't cool at all........a bit geeky I think!! He had a silly butler that came in from time to time I remember, and a mop or something too.

Phil was much better....better progs too I reckon!!

  • @markypearson01

do you remember that one about the cat that lived in the bins?

    not topcat/boss cat btw...

  • heathcliff ?

  • I do remember Andy Crane presenting this now but I have forgotton all about it since it ended. Just remember him anouncing 'Thunder Cats ' and it came on. Wow that must be over 20 years ago now ! lol

  • Reminds me of when I was a kid.Great memories thanks for posting.

  • Ginger Cunt

  • Anyone remember Bobby the Banana?...oh dear, getting old!

  • just think from childrens tv presenter to a host of sky travel you cant get much lower than that lol ha ha

  • the best broom cupboard ever

bring back the good old days

    all sir Andy crane

  • Anyone follow this great legend on Twitter like me? LOL! Great!

  • This has taken me back to when I was a kid. Back when childrens' TV was excellent. Now it's filled with all that crap Japenese anime and manga shit.

  • LOL somebody thumbed your comment down. I've thumbed you back up so you are back to zero at least. Some people will never understand the world of the Broom Cupboard. Sadly we are getting old, sir.

  • Wow... i'm 27 and this is just symptimatic of all that used to be great about Childrens TV! and remember it was CHILDREN'S BBC not just CBBC which is just lazy. i was so disappointed when they left the Broom Cupboard and moved into that studio.

also - in a fight between Edd the Duck and Gordon the Gopher, who'd win? for my money, Gordon would slay the duck

    : )

  • In a fight, Gordon the Gopher and Edd the Duck would repeatedly draw.

  • feckingbillgates - (great name by the way), have to disagree with you. just because Edd had the mohican didn't mean he had the power to fight off a gopher attack! he used to be bald but i remember someones auntie or gran sent in the mohican and they stitched it on.

  • I didn't know that about Edd's mohican! He must have started out looking like Gordon with a beak!

  • nah, nowhere near as cool! : )

i have nothing against Edd, it's just that Gordon is GOD!

  • Where did Gordon go I wonder. Philip Schofield kept him for a couple of years, for his stint on Going Live but THEN WHAT? Did he go back to the wild? I WANT TO KNOW!!

  • feckingbillgates - look him up on Wikipedia, it tells all.

  • tht song well sticks in your head allllllllllll day ha ha

  • lol, i sing this to my 2 year old, coz sometimes my mind goes blank after so many nursery rhymes, lol, so i sing this, ulysses 31, defenders of the earth and thundercats, lmao, n i fink he likes them better than the nursery rhymes, lol

  • hes bound to. this was when kids tv themes became playground anthems lol

  • haha, class!

  • Someone who I follow on Twitter! LOL! Great! Still loving him after this!

  • Does anyone else realise that the kids TV presenters back then are kind of like legends now (well to us lot who grew up watching them)? I mean, who's going to remember the ones of today? I dont even know who presents CBBC now!!

  • I used to love this show as a kid, cheap but cheerful and quite well animated, likewise "Mysterious cities of gold!", i'm nearly 30 now and do feel sorry for kids now not having any shows like this to watch-i was watching Cartoon Network with my nephew not long ago and saw a trailer for a cartoon called "Chop socky Chooks", i'm guessing it was about Chickens although you couldn't tell that from the low quality CGI. Don't get me started on Ben10 either....

  • I agree with every word mate, i'm the same age and used to love saturday mornings cartoons...

  • totally agree I am 30 and we had much better kids tv. Loads of cartoons that went on for ages. Dungeons and dragons and ulysses 31 were amazing too

  • haha classic tv that willy fogg and andy peters' singing is 'dreadfully flat' lmao

  • That's Andy Crane, not Andi Peters.

  • 1988, I was two...gosh, but I remember watching this all the time, I still know the lyrics, but then who doesnt!

Childrens TV these days is quite trite, I really miss the cartoons where the intros where just as fun to watch as the cartoons, plus back in the day (makes me feel OLD) there used to be presenters like andy crane which made things much more fun, these days they just cut funding and shove any crap on, 80's cartoons where the best, todays cartoons just cannot compete!

  • i was at school when this was on i think i was at primary school im 36 now

  • wow i was six when this was on seems like yesterday those where the days time goes so fast

  • thank the lord i grew up in the 80's.....You cant take away the memories

  • Couldn't agree more. Was the best decade in history to be a kid.

  • just think andy crane is now presenting a sky holiday channel how shit is his carere turned out lol

  • Learn the words you muppet!!!!!!! Don't be singing off a sheet!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, Andy Crane was ace back then...

  • Blimey I remember all this!! I loved Andy Crane, didn't like Simon Parkin though! Andy Crane and Andi Peters were my fave presenters. We're all children of the 80s!! Sounds like something Arthur Scargill would say.. I miss those days.. don't miss Thatcher though!

  • That started off so well, Andi Peters is a wanker

  • International Willy Fog Day April 28th - Never forget my 80's childrens TV brothers and sisters - Never forget..These really were the glory days...

  • You just don't get this anymore. Back then, Andy Crane et al made you feel like you were part of the fun, and it was all a big hoot. Now it's just a self-concious, image-obsessed load of nonsense with flimsy programmes, without any sense of joy.

  • you are 100% right there is no charm in tv today!!!

  • @finesse150 I AGREE!!!!!!!

  • @finesse150 you are so right.

  • God I vaguely remember this! And Andy Crane. Such a nice personality, unlike today's morons

  • i remember this like it was yesterday - and yes i sent off for the song sheet too!!

  • Excellent!! I vaguely remember watching this and cringeing with embarassment!! I've just watched Phillip Schofield mime to Ulysess on youtube - fair play to Andy Crane, at least he is singing and giving it a bash unlike Phil!!

  • I sent of for the lyrics and still have them...I also sang to this live...

  • Damn! I've been Fog-Roll'd!

  • in england dont say who this show are from spain.......

    (my english is a shit...)

  • Ah, back when kids TV (on weekdays) was decent.

    *searches for Ed The Duck*

  • This is great greg... I KNOW SOME GOOD CLIPS FOR YOUR SITE

  • This is one of many reasons we loved Andy in the Broom Cupboard, happy childhood memories

  • "This is dreadfully flat"! LOL! Aww! bless him!

  • How lovely! He reminds me of Rick Astley :-))) How Really cute he sings!

  • the broom cupboard looked like a teenagers bedroom

  • Andy Crane looks so young there I remember this. I loved Willy Fog when I was a little girl. I am 20 in a few weeks time and I still know all the songs of by heart. Andy Crane has a nice singing voice. He should host CBBC now on the CBBC channel but I winder what he is up to now. I wish I had a signed photo of him with my name on it does anyone know how? Andy Crane, Andy Peters, Edd the duck, Philip Scofield and Gordon the gopher are my favourite CBBC hosts. Always loving you Andy Crane forever.

  • If your 20 next week how can you remember this, its 20 years old?

  • I'm 20 as well, and I remember this. They showed reruns. They also showed the 'Journey to the centre of the Earth' one as well.

  • (reply to Lst123321) She didnt just mean the show, she's saying he remembered Andy Crane introducing it. Which if she is 20 is imposible. I am 28 and this clip is from when I was 7 and Babe5677 was probably not even conceived.

  • He now presents shows for Channel M, the manchester channel on sky tv!

  • he was so politefully bland.

  • There was another one where he had all different props and sang it while superimposed with the original video in the background.

I think I've got it somewhere..

  • This brings back memories

  • I sooo remember this. I had the song sheet and I sang along too!! LOL

  • Good but no vibrato.

  • Legend.. I loved it then.. I really remember that day I was 7 I watched it after school. Happy Days..

  • Legend.. I loved it then.. I really remember that day I was 7 I watched it after school. Happy Days..

  • Legend.. I loved it then.. I really remember that day I was 7 I watched it after school. Happy Days..

  • I just remembered all the words!! he he

  • I got the lyrics sent to me lol.

  • LOL! This beings back memories! Aww Andy!

  • how much do you think he got paied for thia what happen to andy crane AND edd the duck!!!!!!!!

  • Andy Crane presents the News on Manchester's Channel M on Sky 203, and does the occassional thing on BBC Radio Manchester.

As for Edd the Duck, well who knows?

  • edd the duck must be on the dole now then

  • A star like Edd would have no doubt been killed young and thus heralded as a legend for an entire generation.

  • absolutely brilliant!!

proud to be an eighties child!

    brings back fond memories!

  • Too right!

  • Fantastic clip! Thanks so much! :D

  • how did stewart pierce fit in presenting kids tv and playing for england

  • I wrote to the broomcupboard for a 80 days around the world songsheet got andy's autograph toothis is just a genius clip of a happy childhood memory of mine many thanks ;)

  • I remember when I saw some behind the scenes thing and saw the broom cupboard from behind the cameras (revealing it is in fact, just the corner of a large set). I was genuinely upset!

  • No No You lie!! I refuse to believe you ;-p x

  • kids shows these days dont even have theme tunes you can sing along to its very sad for modern kids.

  • I heard that Andy Crane wrote out all the song lyrics and kids in their thousands would write in and ask him for them and he would send them all out!!!! Amazing guy!

  • See kids TV used to be good. CITV is now dead and CBBC a joke. Bring this cartoons back, bring back the broomcuboard.

  • Thursday 14th April 1988, it would seem.

  • great clip. it was a great theme tune too.
