  • Nice video, "reggaelinx website" has the best collection of reggae videos if you are into reggae music.

  • Very nice :)

  • i know the song but forgot who sing it plez remind me

  • @eric2k11 Culture (Joseph Hill +)

  • nice man , whats the reason why you prefer rounds over flats ? it would help alot

  • @buzzkilbum They just sound better on this bass, don't know why

  • Wow, such a great sound! I love your style, too - you are clearly dedicated to reproducing an authentic reggae feel. So many jazz basses sound so thin, but you sound as deep as Family Man. I'm looking to change my strings after years of leaving on the same old ones, and while I know much of your tone comes from your hands and your bass, I do think strings can make a big difference. Could you say what strings you are using here, including company, type, and gauge? Thanks!

  • @bwj8 Thanks, strings are daddario EXL170 (nickel 45-100).

  • Much appreciated! Didn't expect such a fast response - thanks. I agree with you, they seem perfectly suited to this bass... One of my favorite bass tones ever, you really make it work. My next challenge: find a Jazz that gets close to that sound. You're the best!

  • @bwj8 By the way, tone knob down all the way and some bass boost. For me that works fine. Have fun ;-)

  • Master!

  • awesomeeee

  • Awesome. Lovely bass playing and tone! Do you have the tone rolled off? If so, to what extent?

  • @youhavegeniusshins Thanks, tone is rolled off completely

  • great bass line,great sound,great player.

  • Rasta Mon

  • lovin it large

  • This is a great sound

  • hey man respect! what year is that jazz bass?

  • Flats or roundwounds?

  • @Soul74 Rounds

  • @ALIONBASS well its better to use flatwounds for reggae but still good job man

  • How do you make this sound? preamp?

  • @Caulev Tascam bass trainer

  • great musician!!!

  • BIG TUNE DAT MAN. U GOOD MAN U GOOD.

  • Amazing sound!

  • 1- You got extra credits for your feeling about reggae

    2- "that" is a bass

    3- rythmics are flawless

  • @negrobazz Thx, I appreciate it

  • @negrobazz BRAVO!

  • nice tone!

  • spectacular sound!

  • damn your bass sounds awesome. iam starting to really like reggae bass

  • Thank YOU! Glad there's a bass player breaking out some of Joseph Hill's Work.

  • Me have them same guitarbelt, ya know what I'm sayin'?

  • i need to learn the first track!!!!!

  • I don't Like Fenders. especially their big ugly plastic pickguards and shitty shapes

  • that's nice bro!

  • reggae and funk is the most fun / most feel music to play bass too!

  • It sounds really good. I love it.

  • that tone fills everything, man!

  • I have a Jaguar bass like that. They're awesome.

  • Is that a fender classic 70's?

  • @Alden1210 No, it's an original fender from 1974. Greetings from Belgium ;-)

  • @ALIONBASS hey i am a bass player from jamaica good sounds man

  • @jetjet360 Thanks everyone for the positive comments!

  • i always thought P-basses were better for reggae tbh. but you gots a nice sound

  • @scudderforthewin P-basses are also good, but the jazz bass is a little more common in classic reggae (Robbie, Familyman, Flabba, ...).

  • @ALIONBASS ah. i prefer ska to reggae but my P-bass has j pickups aswell. so il start using them :)

  • Awesome job, but damn, your pinky drives me crazy. No hard feelings!

  • GOOD MY FRIEND

  • very good. Te esperamos en bs as

  • i know that bassline from a scientist song. i've never heard culture, but scientist produced a mix album of culture, but that bassline isn't from that. hmmm. nice work anyway.

  • Nice!

  • cool bass man ;)

  • nuff respect to u bredren!

  • Big up ya self!!!! Nuff Respect bassline is wicked..

  • man u killed this one could u do a breakdown of it? that would be cool

  • Yeah mon!! Jah!! Rastafari!! no apologies

  • the year of that jazz bass? did you use a compressor? direct box? great play! great sound!

  • @sebajo82 Thanks, it's a 1974. No compressor, only a Tascam bass trainer (with some EQ) direct into the computer.

  • @ALIONBASS do you think that a Fender Jazz Bass 1978 would sound like yours? I´m asking because I´m gonna buy one. Thanks a lot!

  • @sebajo82 Most of the late 70's jazz basses are made of ash while alder is mostly used on earlier basses. But I've had a 78 JB years ago and it sounded great! (but was too heavy for me).

  • @ALIONBASS Wich one do you prefer? 74 or 78? I have a Fender Jazz Bass American Deluxe V (1997). I would like to change it for a fender original 1978. What do you think? Cheers.

  • @sebajo82 Difficult to say, each bass is different. If you have the chance, try it out first. Cheers

  • Yes, most likely it's Sibbles...he was still with Sound Dimension at the time, but left shortly thereafter.

  • This first bass line is actually "Pick Up The Pieces" by the Royals (on Studio One ) from 1972.

  • @ramantaloo Possible, I think Leroy Sibbles created that bassline

  • Nice bass, and even better playing. What year is it, that thing looks beat up. Thats why old fender are so cool though!

  • great sound man !

  • awesome!

  • wow sweet

  • Very round sound!!! Well done!

  • thanks. i'm trying to figure out the reggae pulse. this helped!

  • try better speakers

  • a great fenderly sound!

  • wow ;)

  • Ah, damn sweet sound.

  • Reggae is so cool! i like ska better though. great playing!

  • RIP Joseph Hill.

  • that's the same bass line for leaving babylon yo ...eric man ....

  • I think 311 borrowed it for leaving babylon.

Kinda like how Sublime borrowed the "Cherry Oh Baby" bass line from UB40

  • kinda like how sublime took alot of basslines from yellowman. and i mean alot

  • um..leaving babylon is by bad brains, covered by 311.

  • yeahh 311's version sucks..Bad Brains is awesome though

  • Good song !

    you're cool

  • Sexy bass. That is all I'm going to say.

Well, great bass playing, of course!

  • I want that bass!

  • @BlandBassVideo I want him, in my livingroom, playing bass.

  • dude your hella good! but im gunna be better than you someday haha im 14 and my dream is to be a reggae bassist! but in a more like slightly stoopid style if you ever heard of them.

  • YES I SELLASIE I

  • Yeaaah man!

  • try with ur right hand closer to the fret board for the extra fatness!

  • sounds fatter, but on some basses it lacks definition (sounds too flappy). but familyman gets a nice sound with it!

  • What do you recommend to learn bass bass lines?

What type of scales do you mostly use?

  • LEARN THE STRING NOTES FIRST !... then learn your major and minor scales at 2 octaves ... learn different patterns and shapes e.g 5th's, 3'rds etc.

  • Do you know anywhere i can get that neck? I've cut the frets out of my current neck and i need another one for occasions where you don't need a fretless. (I'm left handed btw). Love the reggae!

  • Allparts sells these type of necks. Succes!

  • awesome man......bomboclot!!!!

  • These are roundwounds, but well used (and all highs cut).

  • hey good job!! what kind of bass are you using???

  • thanks, it's a fender jazz '74

  • I feel you Mon!!!!!

  • tabs anywhere?

  • Can't you tab it by ear??it's quite esay man!

  • im retarded.

  • Oh I didn't mean that! but you'll feel so much satisfied if you learn it by ear, even if it's not %100 accurate, that'll help you become a better musician

  • ah i didnt assume you were..those were my words.lol..i dont play bass as much as i used to..so itd take time..but no..your completely right man

  • That is a tight ass bass

  • i still can't find the pattern on this riff...this is one of my favorites and yellowmans version"gimmie fe ya girlfriend"(live in paris)is the wickedest version!!!with the 4 stomp on the kick with hihat only hitting 1/4 notes..
