I love the PWEI version. No offence Numan fans but it's way better than this. I came here looking for the original but can't seem to find it, search for 'Gary Numan friends' and the obvious song comes up a million times...

the original version is on the TUBEWAY ARMY album and it's a bit faster than this one! it was his first album,1978

i still have this on VHS somewhere, i recorded that show, remember him sitting on those plastic chairs? i spent ages trying to find it back then as well reason being is it was called Do Your Best originally, or this is what i am led to believe as I have an mp3 of this song live in 1979 where he introduces it as "Do your Best"

This is the song "Pure" not Friends tho it is great many thanks for this one of the best ever Numan songs.

Sorry but if you listen to the lyrics it is Friends.This version later turned into Pure.

Gary first played this on the EXILE tour in 97.Gary put the song together as a demo for the PURE album,not long before the EXILE tour and liked it so much he decided to use it on the tour.He had no lyrics for the track at the time and decided to use the lyrics from FREINDS (tubeway army album)He never intended to put the track out with the freinds lyrics and obviously wrote lyrics for the track at a later stage of which is now titled PURE.
