  • rik emmett has one of the best voices ever ..wish there were more bands like this miss the 80's

  • Rick Emmet is a great guitatist and vocalist. Triumph was a band to be delt with. I loved all their songs. And admired Rick for being able to sing lead vocals and play lead guitar at the same time. Most people don't realize how hard that is.

  • this one of the best live bands in even seen 1982 rocked

  • i wish i was rik emmet's fuk girl back stage. oh yea!

  • No doubt that was the final song of the night...

  • Great tune....brings back great memories

  • Who can "dislike" this????? 8 morons...

  • one of the best shows ever seen

  • love this classic..the triumph shows ive seen!! great band and great show for halucinogenics. just sayin...

  • Triumph: I could be wrong, but it's always seemed to me that they were and have been one those GREAT bands that was/is completely under rated. Just some great talent and amazing music!!!

  • if i just had as much talent in me that rik emmett has in his left "pinky" finger; i could freakin make millions! god why is he so awesome?!?!

  • Awesome! I just went to an old record store and got this album so I can hear it the way I did back in high school! Can't be compared!

  • @samsox69

I'm wanting to do the same thing with the Thunder Seven album. I pieced it together here except Rock Out, Roll On. But I'll buy the album again before too long so I can hear it the way I did in high school too :-)

  • The Band that should be celebrating a 60+ yrs

    .

  • Rick is playing on ,his own now, he plays Jazz in clubs and tours very little... He mostly plays in Canada...TRIUMPH & RUSH>>>>> #1 <3

  • Aw, come on. These guys were one of the lamest excuses for a "metal band" when I was in high school. Rik Emmitt wasn't even all that cute, and the girls all used to squeal over him. They were just as lame as REO Speedwagon. UGH! Queen was a real band!

  • @Multi80schick go away and listen to your Madonna , Culture Club and wham. They did things musically nobody was doing then.

  • @BOUNCEFACTOR Gee, and to think I like UFO, Uriah Heep, and Deep Purple. Pity.

  • @Multi80schick I bet "Knocking At Your Back Door" is your favorite Deep Purple song

  • @BOUNCEFACTOR Nope. It's "Place in Line" from Who Do We Think We Are.

  • WOW!!! Just.... WOW!! Thats rock at it's BEST!

  • thanks for thi info.... wasn't sure

  • One of the best concerts I have ever seen! Saw them back in 83 with Foghat! Sounded awesome! What a great time it was for music and going to concerts!

  • never saw them live but heard they were outstanding..,not sure whatever happened to them... broke up and probably scattered all over ... who knows.. still got the music in me..!!

  • play this on some beach on a cassette tape when He calls my name...

  • As of this note, 6 people do not have the magic power. More to us!

  • the best 3 man band hands down, rush was great,,but these guys were better

  • @windycityjeff 3 man band? y am i looking at 4 people on stage?

  • @billbord2 The fourth member was an addition just for this song, but Triumph only had three members.

  • @BTBHSOHBOY hired gun

  • I heard Rick a few days ago he try's but that voice just been through so many years of jamming!!!

  • I saw these guys in the cotton bowl in texas when I was 17 that would have been 81

  • what ever happened to these guys????

  • this jam was always on the radio back in the day whatta jam

  • why is there a fourth member in this song

  • @robhood3 thats rick santers - a live member from 1984 - 1993

  • why i band members there a fourth

  • why does a killer rock and roll band have a charmin toilet paper add as an intro to one of their best songs? Awesome song

  • Love these guys.........many many good times and memories listenin to them! Take me back to 1984 such a fun time in my life!!!!!

  • 13 and listening to this...

i wonder if the comments are going to be like in 2040? all adults will say the current music sucks and and old music is better?

whatever ill still be listening to this :)

  • WE need more bands like this again! This was real music.

  • Why don't we have singers / bands like this anymore?

This is when being alive was great..70s & 80s rock...nothing like it. ...glad I lived it!

  • @nighthawk584 you had to be able to sing and play in these days now all you need is rack mount pro tools

  • @nighthawk584 A time that will NEVER happen again !

  • @nighthawk584 You said it all, brother. I was there, too. And I'm not just being nostalgic. The music changed over the years.

  • take that all you auto-tune wanna bees!!!

  • I remember seeing these guys years ago. Those were the days!

  • Man just F....kin awesome song, band, lyrics, vocal and tights!! LOL.... Rik Emmetts voice was the best around during that era. I hear that he is still at it...

  • @rloeber66 Yes Rik just played a small, but very famous club in Cambridge, Massachusetts called Club Passim. Bob Dylan and Joan Baez played there early in their careers.

  • saw these guys with Foghat, 3rd row front and center, Chicago, like '83...

  • i use to drum this song in my band till 1 day i fell asleep driving and got paralized in 85'. there went my dream of making it big....was on my way there.

  • 5 people do not have the Magic Power

  • Love, love love this song. However, I'm not sure what's worse. The bass player's moustache, or Rik's pants.

  • Awesome band, they don't make them like this these days!!!!!!

  • I was there ,this concert takes me back to a better time.

  • Re-Union Tour...Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Triumph are really a band who with better handling and maybe more luck would have been "up there" with the greats.

Great band and would still be a big draw among UK rockers for sure...

  • BAD ASS TUNE

  • most under rated band in rock history? I saw em live and next to Rush and VERY few other bands could they deliver on stage as well as in the studio. those who never knew em well they missed out big time.

  • TRUELY A BAND THAT NEEDS MORE LIKES CLICK THAT THUMB PEOPLE YOU WONT FIND MUSIC LIKE THIS NOWDAYS

  • @TheCoot1963

OMG.... LOL.. this was my 70's anthem!!!

  • @sherribaby88 The album with this song came out in 1981.

  • Triumph is medication for my moods, how bout that!

  • Great band in the early 80's. Does anyone know if they perform or tour in the states?

  • The Guitarist's name is Rik Emmett. He is from Canada

  • Yup good old days and good talent.

  • who is the the other guy playing guitar in this video??

  • @3panties1

THERES ONLY THREE GUYS PLAYIN TOO!!

  • These guys are awesome!!! My favorite band from Canada. Roight up there with Rush and Frank Marino. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nobody wants to see that advertisement crap just to watch a stinking video!

  • first time hearing this band and they need to be known everywhere. this feels like original stuff here

  • Epic

  • They're not underrated because I love them so much, that it rips a hole in the space time continuum making Triumph the only band ever. In my mind anyways .

  • Wow can I go back please!

  • I'm young, wild, and free, remember those days??? What great times and GREAT MUSIC we had back then...These kids today don't have a clue, what it was really like then to be young, wild, or free, times certainly were different for us..How LUCKY were we??? ROCK ON...

  • this was one the best known bands back then in their hey-day they might have been what justin bieber or lady ga ga is today.

they were up there with journey, boston, rush, gtr, toto and so on amazing thats when rock was in its glory days

  • @panzergrenadire sadly they were not a "big" band they were on a second tier saw no play on pop stations pretty limited play on "rock" stations. Journey and Boston got a lot of play after VH and Judas Priest with a lot of Ozzy thrown in. GTR and Toto wtf are they doing in this conversation They were 3rd tier though they got played a lot but short lifespan.Saw Triumph live in 1986 and was 1st concert I saw with a laser show was pretty cool was 19 and was last concert I saw without my wife.

  • Hell yeah!! Love it!

  • triumph is one of the most under rated rock bands ever!!! Rik Emmet is an awesome guitar player and the whole band is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn, life was so simple back then..........

  • I believe there right there w/ rush w/o the hype : magic power awesome- saw them a wscorpions long time back - notthat old just been arouundhhile back w/ mo later

    if comments

  • Led Zeppelin + Rush = Triumph

  • Triumph was a poor, dumb guys version of RUSH... Being from Canada they were ALWAYS in the shadow of Geddy,Alex and Neil...And that sucks because Triumph rocked Just in a different way....

  • TRIUMPH was very under rated and i still love to listen to them!

  • This looks like it's from their Sport Of Kings tour (86 or 87). I saw that show at the Patriot Center (George Mason University). Outfuckingstanding performance.

  • Shinedown could do it?

  • i think it's time for a remake, not because it could be better, just to get the word out there again.

  • Seen them live with Rik Emmett.....this song is the best....

  • I'm with you both. Lay it on the line is memory inducing as well. Yeah a better time when we did not know how F'd up things are and had no reason to care.

  • Brings back a lot of GOOD memories! Blasting my speakers until the windows rattled :)

  • My first concert that had a laser show! Awsome

  • I'm 44--young, wild & free!!!!! His voice and this song will always be an anthem!!!

  • @azsunkist It's a life anthem!

  • @misredkimmy No doubt, Right on!!

  • very underated! not given the backing, support that they needed and deserved! they match upto ANY of the power bands of their time!!!!!!

  • Simply iconic. Just amazing!

  • Triumph. my first concert, 1985 Frank Erwin Center in Austin. Molly Hatchet was the opener. great band.

  • Rik's Yamaha doubleneck is probably my favorite looking axe of all time.

I always wanted that guitar dammit! lol

  • OMG... this songs brings back memories...

  • Such a awesome band! Rik's vocals are so unique and perfect pitch. His guitar playing second to none! Just amazing music from the Best times of my life!

  • another mind boggling trio,no doubt!!!!!!!

  • I can't decide which better-represents this song: the laser-light bird and wild stallion, or those free-flowing Canadian mullets. Why they're dressed like Loverboy is an eternal mystery, but mix it all together, and I love this shit.

  • Great group, great song. Greetings from Mexico City

  • AWESOME Band, Three members.....that power and sound? Not a good Band? I beg to differ my Rock n Roll friend, A KICK ASS Band indeed!

  • anybody else see a resemblance to rush? in a good way though

  • AGREED, this band was/is the most under rated band of all time!!!!!!

  • Take me back to 1981.Fuck all these horrible new bands.Go learn how to play, you new idiots and all your fucking bands

  • Takes me back to a better time!!!

  • seen them in el paso 1981 late september with mahogany rush and frank marino wow riot something man.

  • Wow, my computer just cut off.I thought it was crashing during my favorite song, luckily it turned back on after a few tries.

  • The best 3 man band in history!

  • @viktay1 have u ever heard of rush i like these guys to but they are not the greatest 3 piece bro

  • I saw Triumph live at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium in October 1986. 25 YEARS AGO!!!! And then Rik alone at a small club a few years later. Amazing.

    Great memories. Thanks guys.

  • @afdccb I was there Awesome show!

  • @afdccb Saw some great shows in the Aud in late 70's and early 80's...... the place rocked for about $8 a ticket.

  • endykeith: YOU ARE SO WRONG. TRIUMPH KICKED ASS AND TOTALLY ROCKED THE ENTIRE HOUSE EVERY TIME. I WAS THERE. NOW ONLY VIDEO. THIS BAND PLAYS AND SOUNDS EXCELLENT LIVE AS WELL AS STUDIO. garbage of today sucks. Even my twelve year old boy agrees. 80S ROCK WILL NEVER DIE OUT BUT THE CRAP OF TODAY WILL.

  • AWESOME! Love this song!

  • ya really endykeith this is a GREAT band

  • Boy, I sure miss Triumph!! So much better than the crap out there nowadays!! :(

  • This is what Spinal Tap wanted to be!

    Excellent discipline.

  • This is what Spinal Tap wanted to be!

  • aww man this band is so under rated

  • @14JudasPriest .....so true!!!!!

  • @14JudasPriest first I was like no way...THIS IS TRIUMPH! thought about it, you damned right. Love these songs. KIXX KIXX mo KIXX and RIPPS STIXX no surrender! right on bro.

  • I hate the commercials prior to the songs!

  • Wow what a song...............

  • This is what I have been searching for. I couldnt remember the name of this band. I grew up in the late 80's/early 90's as a teen and missed the late 70s hard rock scene. I must say this stuff is great compared to most of the electronic garbage on pop radio. What has become of our youth, I think hollywood and the media is larely to blame for setting the cancer in music and movies today.

  • Neal Peart and Gil Moore!!!!!!!! I would love to see Rush and Triumph do a tour, I could go ahead and die. I love both these bands and have seen them both many times, but never together. Canada or not Absolute Perfection!!!!!!!

  • what happened to good fukin rock music you can just get high to?man i remember the texas jams they used to hold at the cotten bowl in dallas tx in tthe 80's.there some good memories at those concerts.oh,fuck bieber.

  • INSANE guitar solo! No lip sync, no Lady Gag Gag penis shoe crap. no Kanye West stealing award garbage, no Usher fail - pure rock and roll. I grew up on this juice - Triumph rocked!

  • They should do a tour with Rush in the next few years.

  • @XtremeCam ........I don't want too see a GREAT band like Rush getting their ass kicked,...just saying....

  • I love this song....def one of my top 3 songs....I was a teenager in the 80's and this was one our party songs, LOVE IT!!! Like it better on tape! Sad that I have it on vinyl, cassette and now cd..lol

  • What not a great band they r a wonderful band up their with Rush I don't care what anyone says

  • RUSH CAN

  • Seen them every time they came to Maryland. The BEST live band I have ever seen, and the light shows were incredible. Really miss these guys.

  • @jeepscott67 Ditto, man.

  • This is one of my 3 favorite songs of all time -- when I was young, it actually *woke me up* in the middle of the night a couple times, when it was a hit.

That said, all the live versions have always left me cold for two reasons, and I see this one is one of them: my favorite parts of the song, being an arrangement geek, were the precision of the vocal syncopation, and the counterpoint second guitar. Both are nearly completely missing live.

  • @baylinkdashyt Additionally, dropping "She's" in all the choruses, in addition to screwing up that lovely syncopation, *also* screws up the contrast in the last verse, when he sings "I'm"... or is *supposed* to; this performance almost makes it seem like he *forgot*. Owel; it's their song, not mine. Just wish I was still a tenor...

  • One of my favorite bands of all time. Saw them in 83 at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, great concert, great musicians , great time period! The only trio in my opinion that were better is Rush, loved them both. Triumph clearly most underrated band, no doubt. What happened to bands like this? No Rush, Triumph, ACDC, Journey, Van Halen out there. Now we get bands that make one or two good songs and they are spoken of like they are real bands, don't get it.

  • Not a great band??? You are a clueless wonder! Triumph is one of the most under rated bands of all times! What hurt them was being Canadian and not Rush.

  • @oldjizzy You cummon!! I ment exactly every word I said. Triumph is the most amazing bands of all time and is VERY underrated. If you choose to disagree that is up to you but like you I also have an opinion. And mine is the right one!!!! :o)

  • Headed down tomorrow to the Rik Emmett show in Dallas. Should be a lot of fun.

  • Triumph is one of the most amazing bands of all time. So underrated vocals and the way Rick Emmet plays a gutair like no one else. Rush is a great band but doesn't hold a candle to Triumph!!!!!! Music today s--ks and it's ashame!!

  • @Snootlaroon Exactly. Rush and Triumph are my favorites, but the only thing they have in common is that they're both power trios from Canada. They're as different s night and day....

  • Triumph is one of the most amazing bands of all time. So underrated vocals and the way Rick Emmet plays a gutair like no one else. Rush is a great band but doesn't hold a candle to Triumph!!!!!!

  • @Snootlaroon - lmao at that last one. Cummon, man. :-0

  • omg! they sound better live that they do in the recording. amazing!!!

  • I didn't realize Spinal Tap was once called Triumph

  • TRIUMPH has the MAGIC POWER!
