As someone who has lived in Toronto's covenant house, and has been a homeless youth for over 4 years, I can say both good and bad things about the shelter. It needs alot of work, and negates alot of things it shouldn't, not the least of which is training for it's staff. They pay one of the highest wages for front line workers, resulting in staff being there just for the pay check.

@Luguolo Honors (Dean's List here) under my belt at George Brown. Homeslessness can happen to anyone, and is rarely by choice. I fell on bad luck with family short after I turned 18 and that is what got me there, they decided I could take care of myself and told me to leave. Don't draw assumptions, you never know why someone ends up here. I know people who had full careers who ended up here, because after 30 years of hard work they were let go, and being hired while elderaly is near impossible.

The only reason there are homeless people is because they are all natives and too lazy and high on heroin or gasoline fumes to give a shit about anything.
