Yees! that's soo cool! i tried to find some tutorials for really long hair! and here you are! GREAT! i have about you length! (90cm -> 35 1/2 inches) i have a lot oft hair but very fine one... so i think you can imagine how that may be ;) Thanks for the vids!
thankyou! i had long hair but donated it. now i'm growing it back out again and i was looking for hairstyles i could wear with really long hair. and i love this! reminds me of Rapunzel's hair. i want to try it and add random flowers to it like the movie tangled lol :P
Lately I have been hooked on the 5 strand braids and basket weave braids. I braid the top half of my hair into 8 small 5 strand braids and then basket weave them. Then I curl the bottom half of my hair to cover up the 2 lose ends that I tucked underneath the bottom half.
My hair is only to the middle of my back and even though I have a lot of it it is very fine. My mother ran out of the thick horse hair genes by the time she had me lol. This works great making my hair look thicker than it really is. Thank you!
@SophiBAM Heat style less, use three times as much conditioner as you do shampoo, wash less overall, and only trim when you need it (twice a year - tops!)
grr I have to grow my hair out even longer!!! Its about two inches about my tailbone but my hair is really wavy and thick and once its braided, it hits just below my bra strap. also i have a question, my hair is getting really long now but i'm faced with the trouble that it is getting too heavy to put up in a high pony without it pulling on my scalp a lot. is there anything I can do to lessen it besides cutting my hair?
@nuallaartemis315 You may have to just take the high pony out of rotation. I don't wear them all that often myself. This style, for example, is one of those that I'll do when I go out to run errands, but then I'll take it down once I get home and throw my hair up in a Nautilus, or I'll pin up the braid into a bun so there will be less drag on my scalp. You can always get layers to take some of the weight off, but your braids will shred like crazy. I went through that.
if your hair is damp when you do that and then take the twists and braid out when your hair is dry the ponytail will be wavy and curly with NO HEAT !!!
Love the long hair, especially since I couldn't handle it! :) Just wanted to offer a quick tip of my own. As someone who is NEVER cool enough, I hate hot rooms! Anyway, if you replace all of the bulbs with compact florescent bulbs, you wiil be able to get the same light with much less heat...helps with the electric bill too! :)
wow! I love this iam 19 and have always had really thick and frizzy hair so I try different braids to keep it nice and since I just mastered rope I will try this tomorrow! thanks!
@vampiregirlization it should probably take you a years and couple months for your hair to be to your hip. I think each month your hair is growing an inch or two. (:
@vampgirlization My hair is almost to my hip,and it took a while. About two years but it depends on how slow or fast your hair grows...I've always had long hair since I was in 2nd grade till now,and I don't really like it hahha.
i like your long hair and your hair style i am a boy and have long hair about 3 foot long i like long hair. my mother also want that my hair grow fast more long she care for my long hair she oiling my long hair 2 day in a week. plz tell me some long hair styles burns, braids styles for school and home work time thanks waiting for your responce.
Hey Torrin, i just tried it and its much easier than I thought. ^^ Thanks a lot for the tutorial.. I just wish my hair would be as loong as yours, but it will still take me a few years to get even close.
Another couple of methods for 4-strand braids can be found on a website entitled "How to Upbraid Your Friends" ...I'm quite partial to the "weaving method" myself because it can be used on as many strands as you can hold at one time (and 5-strand braids look really cool!)
p.s.- your tutorials make me miss my long hair... I wish it would grow faster 'cause it's too short for any of your styles right now!
Thank you very much. I am trying to learn four strand braid since last couple of weeks. I saw other tutorials, but could not learn it. You made it so easy. Keep it up.
@smartipants123 It just is, it's always been thick. I know of no magic pill or goop that you can put on your hair to make it thick. It either is or isn't...just nature.
@torrinpaige to get your hair thick you need to get your head bald then it will grow all over again thick and healthy but some has natural thickness of hair not even cut them bald
@Mariam230908 Shaving your head does not result in thicker hair! That's an old wives tale. There are a myriad of things that will effect your hair - hormones, diet, stress, how you treat it - but shaving doesn't encourage thick hair. Now, if your hair is SUPER damaged, you can shave it to let it all grow in nice and new and damage free - but then you have to treat it well to keep it that way.
your hair is beautiful =D i <3 your tuts. my hair is waist/ elbow length, its getting long. i dont know why, but for some reason ive grown a re-interest in braids. maybe having my first baby would have smthn to do with that lol. your instructions are very easy and clear to understand and to the point...thanx SOOO much =DDD <3
Thanks for this. It really helped me because I couldn't do f 4-strand with loose hair.
I tried it with four English braids. First I tied two meter and a half long pieces of ribbon around the pony so that I had four strands of ribbon. I braided one strand of the ribbon into each of the English braids and then did the four strand braid as you do it here.
thanks for all these hair styles i have 3 girs with hair pass their bottoms and my hair stylist which is my sister moved to another state I of course never bothered to learn none of these braids and thanks to you now i know what to do with there long hair
thanks again they can even do these themselves thanks again
Well, I'm trying to get it knee length just to see if I can and because I've always wanted fairytale princess hair at least once in my life. If it seems too hard to manage at that length then I'll cut it back up to where it is now. It is currently easy to deal with and I like it. The shortest I'll go is waist. I know too many hairstyles for long hair now to go back. LOL.
I cut 6 inches off of it about 3 years ago. 11 years ago it was chin length. It took about 6 years to get to waist length...in the past five years I have grown out my bangs, cut layers, re-cut my bangs, and grown out my layers. I trust only one stylist with my hair, and as she's so far away, my husband does the trimming now. It's cheap and he never cuts too much off.

I'll keep looking at your videos, as you are also very talented in how you do your hair and explaining how it's done, I will give the bunch braid a try...Have a nice day Torrin.
@torrinpaige OMG I have layers and I would like to know how long does it take to grow out layers???? I hate my hair right now and i am trying to grow it out to hip length( how long does that take)
Thank you so much for all your braiding tips, you make it so easy for me! I not only use them on myself, but on my 3 year old daughter as well. She has so much hair that I didn't know what to do with. Your hair really is beautiful! Can't wait to try all of the braids on your videos! Thanks again!
Great vid. I used to know how to do this braid and had forgotten.
You mentioned lighting in the video. One way to increase light is to use big pieces of white tagboard (poster board) or semi-matte silver pop open windshield shades (a jumbo Magic Shade works well) to reflect light toward you. It's the kind of thing photographers do. Try googling "diy photography reflector" for ideas. There's a nifty stand idea at: w w w diyphotography net/homestudio/blz/cheap-diy-reflector-stand
Torrin - another excellent and easy to understand vid. I'd never thought of using a rope braid - which I've now mastered thanks to you - before the regular braid.
BTW - the 4 strand braid you did isn't quite the same as the one I showed. According to my knot books, you've done a variation of a "flat sinnet" which is normally done with an odd number of strands. With an even number it doesn't come out symmetrical. Try it with 5 strands and you'll perhaps get a smoother braid.
The rope braid will unwind just a bit once it's secured. That's why I torque that sucker tight before putting the band on the end. It just relaxes a little, then it'll stay put just fine.
I love this. Will try it soon. But first I need to get the rope braid down. I have tried the rope braid but when I go to secure the end it always wants to unwind.
HI there!

Say, how many years has it taken so far to get your lenght?
When was the last time you CUT your hair, really cut not only taking away the tops, can you remember?
I am not patient enough to get it longer than 15cm over my waist. Then I get too desperate and visit the stylist.
