Schools should just give a lot of credits for foreign language classes. That would help solve the problem nicely, because all students are always trying to get as many credits as they can to graduate (if they care about their future).
Some day in foreign countries in schools students will stop to learn English as an mandatory language due to U.S. birth rate plunges to record low and due to it is very dishonest that those students need to learn English as mandatory language and yet in U.S. it is not mandatory for students to learn foreign languages from those countries which makes people in U.S.with lesser IQ vs other languages due to knowledge of more then one languages increases IQ.

Being spanish speaking is not a handicap! Back in the 1960's, educators did not want the deaf to sign, but learn to talk. My right was taken away and I was considered a handicap being deaf. There is a limited number of universities offering sign language courses, but some universities has limited their foreign language to just spanish.

The common belief was that when you came to America you learned the language and culture. And that is how most all who are here did things. How could English provide the basis for cultural unity, when America finds pride in being a 'hot-pot' of several different cultures? Language is a HUGE part of culture. Speaking one language is only a large bonus in terms of communication. I learned English, Japanese, and Chinese. I do work with different cultures and people, thus I learn different languages.
So maybe if we actually integrate Mexicans into English neighborhoods they would speak English. Actually many Mexicans do speak English. They tend to stick with Spanish if their community is purely Mexican, much like mini segregation.

My youngest children are Arabic plus all of my bloodlines. I encourage my children to learn their ancestral languages. Being spanish speaking is not a handicap! Back in the 1960's, educators did not want the deaf to sign, but learn to talk. My right was taken away and I was considered a handicap being deaf. There is a limited number of universities offering sign language courses, but some universities has limited their foreign language to just spanish.

I think jobs need to not hire based on if you can speak Spanish. It's hella hard to get a job where I live, and it's ever harder if you can't also speak Spanish.

Canada has more than one language spoken and it does fine.

One of the requirements of becoming a US citizen is to speak, write and read English.
So, a big tip off that the spanish speaking firefighters were not US citizens and should have ICE called on them is the fact that they couldn't speak English.
I am sick of people sneaking over our border and immediately start making demands. The only thing they are entitled to is a one way ticket back to their country of origin.

Only a few generations ago ...when the media wasn't our enemy. And they encouraged the people rather then covertly ensanring them. The common belief was that when you came to America you learned the language and culture. And that is how most all who are here did things.
