I have tried all network on my iPhone 4 in London in many locations:
O2 - Terrible 3G coverage and doesn't work nearly all the time!
vodafone - Bit better but South London has spotty 2G and 3G coverage.
Orange - Same as O2!!
3 - Very good, consistent 3G and very fast 2Mb+!
T-Mobile - I found best overall, very fast 3G I got 6.2Mb on Oxford street and their coverage in London is perfect, I get coverage in places where no one else does, so I stick with T-Mobile!

It depends on how much traffic is been used by O2 and Vodafone and aswell as the phone mask
