  • finally FINALLY i found someone in the uk who has made a 3d aquarium video. you said you got the cement from homebase online. i tried searching for it but i couldn't find it. would you be able to give the name brand of the cement you used. coz when i type in evo, all that comes up are evo pva. thanks alot...

  • @thesharksrulez go to a garden centre and ask for pond cement

  • Hi mate, looks great. Can I ask, exactly which silicone did you use. Im also UK based and am struggling to find one that isnt mould resistant or that doesn't say "not for aquarium or underwater use".

    Thanks - Paul,

  • @LongP1 hi,im sorry i deleted the company, but i got in on ebay from an aquarium shop.

  • @LongP1 hi paul, if i get time this week i will try to source silicone for you.

  • @gforce1uk, Thanks for the reply, think I found some on Ebay "AquaSeal", so hopefully should be in business.

Hows your background holding up? Anything you would do different?

  • hello im looking into doing this myself. i own a 54" x 18" x 24" tank. i want to form two rock formations 1 in each corner of the tank. when doing yours did your background displace much water? as have worked out that 84 gallons of water weighs 50 stone and would like to bring that down if poss. by the way really liked your end result and thought the lights were very effective in this too. can give away where you hid you intake and outlet pipework?

  • @Lloyd7488 i cant rem how much water was displaced, but it was a large piece so i guess a lot, sorry i know thats not enough info.as for lights and air lines-i dug out holes for lights under rocks that were overhanging then drilled holes through to the back and ran the wires up the back, and air lines,i just drilled holes leading to the sides of the background and ran them up to the to outsides (if that makes sense)its really easy.let me know how you get on. thx

  • Thanks For the video,it's very informative and gave me great Ideas, I also liked your music however I do have a question. You say you used cement and over the cement you used Pond Paint, my question is did you have any problems with your PH or did you have any kind of chemical imbalances with the cement or the Paint? Thanks

  • @ancianoman think the answer to your question is. Fill your tank leave it overnight empty it and repeat for 7 days this will remove the chemicals in the cement and paint .

  • @yuoranasswipe no need for 7 days. just rinse

  • @ancianoman think the answer to your question is.Fill tank leave overnight then empty repeat for abt 5-8 days.this will remove chemical's from the cement ,paint.

  • @ancianoman thx for looking, the cement i used was pond safe from b&q ,really cheap.the paint was pond paint so was fish safe.when you have finished your background just run it under water for a while and leave for a few days to cure, but i didnt, i put it straight in and its been sweet,no ph or other probs.all i can add is ,if your worried ,rinse and leave for a day or two.let me know how you get on.

  • @ancianoman Hi i did one a month ago. i just had to rip it all apart as i just could not get my ph correct. i filled and emptyed the thank 22 times in all. and let it stand for few days at a time. but still could not get the ph down. in fact the ph was that high it was off the scale. a lot of time and money spent for nothing. im really gutted as i would really like one of these in my tank. if anyone could advise. Teresa

  • nice bg dude but the music so funny:)

  • hey mate hows the background holding up in the tank.

  • @ollie082 its holding up fantastic,i think it is better than anything you could buy.thx for looking.
