Why would you want to discount air resistance? Because of the shape of the bullet, the air actually helps hold it up, which is also why wind has a greater effect than one would think.
Sniper scopes are designed to make lining up your shot easier. Use the dots along the axis, they're there for a reason. They represent distances the bullet will drop depending on range. a target at 500m should centered with the second dot down from the crosshair and so on
PHYSICS LESSON...(discounting wind/air resistiance) if you shoot a gun straight-forward (no arc) the bullet will fly and fall until it hits something. If theres no wall or anything, the bullet flys until it hits the ground. The length of time for the bullet to fly from your barrel until it hits the ground is exactly the same as if you held the round in your hand at shoulder height and simply dropped it. Gravity affects it the same, whether dropped from your hand or fired from the gun...
@damagkhrab he's talking about shooting a bullet horizontally and dropping it from the same height u shot it from. they would hit the ground at the same time. key word is horizontally : )
@ppitm gravity does effect everything the same regardless of speed so dropping a bullet and shooting it out doesn't matter. Unless he was wrong about something else then IDK
cool, anything to make sniping harder, because it's hard to respect snipers in games where any noob can pick up the rifle and get bullseyes without any effort. The game Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad is doing some cool things for scoped-rifles, as well. They're gonna allow you to adjust the crosshair for range, so in theory, the "skilled" sniper will learn to judge distance as he learns the maps. If you get sniped from across the map in these kinds of games, it'll be hard to complain
@mrFragaz Yes but they're also for hunting and recreational sports as well. We wouldn't have many of the things we have today if it wasn't for firearms.
Ok, i need help with this. If i have 2 ATI Radeon HD 5970 2GB. And a new game comes out that needs a graphic card with 3 or 4GB. Can my graphic cards support it?
For some reason, people feel that projectiles retain their muzzle velocity. When bullets follow their trajectories, they have to overcome the drop in Trans-sonic drag coefficients. At 1400m, the 5.45x39 round shown will behave as such.

@Justen1980 lets say i fire vertically up in the sky.... wud the bullet take same time to reach the ground as the round from my hand would???

@mrFragaz I don't give a shit about your other comment. You need to know what you are: an idiot.

mr fragaz , at that distance the bullet can drop up to 6 feet , all depends on a few variables but that 1 mm comment is alittle off my friend.

@Tacotruck1166 Its a map he most likely created with the free Editor you get with the game, he obviously didn't add any wind.

It's just usual assault rifle, not designed sniper rifle, so I think it hasn't that much power.

What do you mean.... i am assuming you realise that when items are not supported fall due to gravity, or is this to much to expect.
