I think the reason they did take the solo out is cause All You Have To Do is sort of a 'concept' song for their 'conceptish' album. Its SO not a concept album, but they purposely dropped some hints of one in it

i feel like the solo was made for this song and they just used it for all u have to do. cuz during the song the first few notes are continuously played. w/e. i love the solo. was the first sweet solo i could ever play.

Yeah, I think this song was written before All You Have To Do. The rare tracks album it is from was released a couple years before Shine On I think.
