Nice - but a bit sloppy - sort of low tech, low tech.

I have a similar sized dish.

I made my own mirror tiles, etc., etc., etc.... and cardboard catches fire within 2 - 2.5 seconds...

You should have at least flattened out the foil and polished it up a whole heap...

Using a black pot - well that is only part of the story.

The only bit that OUGHT to be black is the bit that is getting the sun on it.

@endofworld09 During those times, survivalists would be considered the "outlaws" because they don't conform to society's constraints. Besides, where will you be when the "outlaws" or ANGELS come to get YOU? @endofworld09 Yeah, it would be much more productive I'm sure if we all just painted our toenails, watched the Super Bowl and sucked our thumbs and hope that the govt will feed us like babes at the breast. But some of us have chosen to ween ourselves from the sour teat of the govt sow and take some responsibility for our own destinies. People will scoff and scorn as they did Noah. I guess it's their way of making themselves feel better about their own sloth, dependency and impotency. Well done!

how cn the bag not burn like the paper and the best way to find the focal point is a spray bottle you can see the suns rays when spraying over the dish

@narcovice First of all its an oven bag designed to withstand high temperatures but more importantly the pot is at the focal point and not the bag.

@noodels18 It depends on how hot you want it to get and how efficient your solar cooker is. You are probably going to need some sun.

@noodels18 I've cooked food in my box oven in April here in PA, and also in November in 35 degree weather. However, I do need bright sunshine, at least 45 or 50 minutes of it per hour.

@rancidscooter It depends on how much sun you have and how efficient your solar cooker is. It takes about the same amount of time to boil water as your stove, perhaps a little longer.
