Kurzweil is the most expensive keyboards on the market. It would be cheeper to buy a Yamaha Motif or Roland. The K250 in the 1980's cost about 10,000.00 s Kurzweil has always remained the most expensive on the market.
... and the sonic difference between those products then and now was just as vast. People are more than welcome to buy a Roland, Korg, or Yamaha. But if you've owned a Kurzweil, you may understand the predilection with the instrument. It's DEEP. If you program, it's a dream. Even the K1000 series could be manipulated in such sweet ways. Kurzweil engineers understand musicality. That much is certain. Their recording and use of samples demonstrates that in spades. Not to mention KB3/VA modes.
@Algorhythmiq I always felt that Kurzweil & Yamaha were equal on piano, synth, clav & organ sounds,a sligght edge to Kurzweil on the organ patch. Yamaha's Voodoo Man patch is the best gutiar patch ever,no matter what make or model,or brand on any other keyboard. I am spoiled by Korg's touch screen.
@Algorhythmiq You sir are absolutely correct. Kurz has the most AUTHENTIC sounds out of ALL. The only exception I can say is the Motif's acoustic guitar, other than that Kurz is no contest. I've played the PC3 ONCE and it's sounds has been engraved in my brain since then. It sounded that good. I wanted to trade my FantomX7 that day(sort of). Motif's sound good but it's just ear candy. My biggest gripe about Kurz is VAST. It's a blessing and a curse. continued-
@Algorhythmiq VAST is great but I couldn't stomach diving through 5 menus just to add or change one thing (example: adding chorus/reverb) or changing an algorithm while playing live(church). Having used a K2000S quite often b4, I seen the same thing in the PC3 which was one of the reasons why I didn't get it. I still want a PC3/K because the sound is unrivaled despite gripes.
@GospelMusicians funny, I didn't realize that. I have some of your older DVD's, great material. Rather difficult to follow since you know all sorts of theory and I'm self taught playing by ear.
@SORENMDK Thats Dave Weiser. He's one of the the lead production managers at Kurzweil and with the PC3 so he better smile lol. Plus a music legend is playing on his latest product so they need that kind of product promotion. However, Just like you said...A dream to stand there.
Damm,the PC3K sounds like a real Rhodes...
