  • OMG!...hmong Meskas cov qeej nrov phem tiag. kuv mloog tsis laib xyov yog dab tsi li zoo li nrog li snoring xwb es.

  • No disrespect to my Hmong/Miao people but shit it's a SHAME that All Hmong New Year's Festivals are ghetto. Come on People whoever is in charge of these event. Step it up!

  • the lady that was speaking sounds like my auntie

  • so what, you decided the world of Hmong by qeej? if that so, it's gonna tear us apart.

  • wwoooo...fresno tub qeej(TQ)...you guys rock..and the best..oh yeah:D

  • ntxim li xyoo no parade zoo zog txhua xyoob, tiam sis cov tub rog march out of step. need more rehearsal

  • I notice the Hmong qeej doesn't sound strong at all. The qeej used by Yang Geli sounds very strong. I think Hmong people should modified the qeej to make it sounds louder. Anyways, love the videos. Thank you for sharing.

  • @niamtxiv yes, that is so true, we should convert ours. lol he also mentioned that his type of lusheng has 18 sounds while ours, the indochina's qeej, only has 6. can you imgine how much knowledge you must have and what you can do with this kind of melody? he also mentioned that he plays it as an instrument in music rather than only for such purpose as in traditional rituals, parades, events, etc.

  • @niamtxiv Could his qeej have been custom-made?

  • @milvipes Maybe because it's custom-made, but I think it's because it has a higher pitch than our qeej. Ours have a really low tone.

  • is this the new place or old place

  • @dededoi

the old one. =) don't go to the new one.

  • @niamtxiv yeah my parents told me not to and haven't gone to any, and i heard that the new one has a ncej ntxheb ncej ntxhoo thingy

  • @dededoi

yes, the new one does have the sacred pole; however, the new one was created to divide the Hmong people.

  • @niamtxiv yep hmong these days r always about money and hatred so gay, they need to fukin die off and let the young people take over lol wat i meant was we should only have one big celebration at one time in the calendar instead if spreading it through 2 to 3 months of celebration and each city should only have one and, they should not bring politics into it so annoying

  • @dededoi

Agreed. If there is to be peace and sanctuary, it is during the New Year celebration. Politics, feuds, gang violence, and any other nonsense needs to stop at the door. This is a time when you remember who you are, honor the dead (Hmong heroes), and buy the yummy food and check out what the other Hmong peeps have been up to.

  • @hmonguru true, now i only go the last days to bargain and eat, thats how lame it is sometimes but one of these days i hope to organize some performances or whatnot

  • @niamtxiv

Haha... so you agree it was a divisional thing. I've been saying that all along. How do you have two New Year events in one city? That's just sad.

  • @hmonguru

of course. "united we stand, divided we fall." I can't believe there are two events.

  • @niamtxiv

Just to make a point, maybe I should start a third New Year next year at Woodward Park. HAHA... just for kicks.

  • I was there. =)
