Today, 1/26/11. No snow prep was done. Westbound Route from Flushing, Queens (Northern Blvd, 21st St., 59th St. Bridge, 2nd Ave Manhattan) Roads were already snow covered (4 inches) and very slippery by 9 AM. Cars were spinning out all along the way and could not make it up the hill at 45th St & 2nd Ave in Manhattan). NYC streets should have been salted early this morning and were not.  Once again Mayor Bloomberg scores an "F" for failure.

Mr Mayor..PLEASE, PLEASE do something about the garbage in our city! I live on First ave near 116, and I cannot believe the overflowing city trash cans on every corner! I've watched the NYSD come by and just empty the can, but leave the overflow for someone else. This is uncalled for! Someone needs to be held responsible, I don't see any sanitation inspectors giving out summons to the store owners or landlords that share these streets and sidewalks. good job with the public schools, crime, emergency responses, tourism and other aspects of new york city. what i want to see next though is improvement to public transportation.. toll the east river bridges if you have to, but please increase subway service and don't increase the fares .. also, hurry up with the second ave subway and BRT service, the city is in dire need of it
