I love how people replying to this don't get that's a JOKE. The end included! Obviously, all four of the actors enjoy RPing, acting, and other activities. Insulting North America because we have humor? Wow...

We happen to have MANY successful groups, and it's never been limited to nerds. There just happens to be some nerds that play, and it opens up room for jokes. Also, most RP groups have lost players to computer games, thus the jest.

I would only rate this film 3 - 4 stars. =P

Besides, that always seem to be perspective of outsiders people who never where within this "sub culture" themselves.

From my Brazilian perspective, curiously, as much as we dont have the whole "popular cheerleader-football captain couple", our roleplayers are simply not portrayed as nerdy. I cant even conceive something as archetypical (universally present in individual psyches).

Its quite amusing how the north americans always associate RPG to lifeless nerds without girlfriends.

I wonder what kind of phenomena has lead the very land that created this universe to build an endless scenario of cliches sorrounding this game and its players.

My brazilian group is going well for 12 years now. We all have girlfriends and wives, fullfilled social lives and undying friendship. Not very close to what is preached all around, is it?

I go to a tech institute and honestly, a stereotype has to come from somewhere. The hallways are littered with guys who fit every aspect of that stereotype, in fact, it's more like an archetype. Maybe it occurred from the fact that most of the general populace doesn't partake in games of that nature, so those who do form a sub culture based on it. I've seen a lot of kids where all I can say is "really? Do you really mean to act like like everyone expects?" The Nerd cliche' is alive in America.

I understand that completely Chris. But after a certain point, its like watching Hollywood comedies about college: how the football captain and the cheerleader form a perfect couple, and the impopular guys who dress wierd and hate everyone...

You know there is a total part of true in that depiction, nothing comes out of thin air. But after a dozen times its just overdone. You start wondering, when is this endless repetiton going to end, and are they trying some new approach on the subject.
