The Posies were/are definitely under rated. First time I saw 'em live was in 94 at The Fillmore in San Francisco. They were with Alex Chilton as Big Star. Before then, I liked their songs, but never bought an album. In retrospect, I think I questioned their street cred. They got lost in a crowd of paisley, 60's-esque bands touted as the next Hollies or Yard Birds. At SF show, they played a few Posies songs. I was floored. It was clear I was wrong. Started buying their records. Didn't look back.
i also like this particular sound it has almost gone from this world though just like everything else...... i suppose not gone just covered with new wave cyber jive bands : (
this band strikes a nerve with me more than any other 90's band. I think they got me through highschool. Don't underestimate their writing and their talent for a great pop hook. amazing. thank you!
Oh, what a great band these guys were! I'm so happy to see all the positive comments for all their videos. They inspired so many and were the epitome of an underrated band!
One of the most SOLID and under rated bands of the 90's - Got to meet Ken backstage at a small solo gig about 2005, i gushed and gushed, he was a super nice guy !
saw them in 94 at the old 9:30 club. they are truly unforgettable and the best artists of the early 90's f o b is a perfect and legendary album thanx stanz
I saw these guys a half dozen times in their prime. They represent the Seattle sound more than anyone, I think. AIC is close but these guys were more grounded.
in a way it's the definition of power pop music! and if you like that mix of energy and pop melodies you should also check the early who stuffs, the buzzcocks, the undertones, redd kross...

Check Out the Albums 'Frosting On The Beater' and 'Amazing Disgrace'... If you like the later period GBV stuff.

I think they would have gotten some more attention if they had made a video for Solar Sister.

One of the best rock songs ever. I hate how they play it live. They never get it right. This is the mix and the band that peaked The Posies.

So poppy and kinda heavy at the same time. I miss when songs where like this, they rocked and were catchy all at once.
dropd26 2 years ago
this tune remind you of early Foo Fighters at all? I hear that a lot.

Naw just music from this time period in general.
