@geffel I was having the same issue, as you saw in the tutorial. You can use the gate on the channel strip, then if you would like to have it fully quiet, it is possible to add an additional mix channel, and route the out from the eq to the input on the new mix channel, then direct out of the mix channel to the "from devices" on the original. Then set the new gate and your good to go.
Sooo many problems with ghettign this to work - doesn't want to work with live guitar - nothign comes through...and then to get the prerecorded guitar to play after adding the gate I have to detach and reattach a cable. Very odd.
The sound is getting there though. I'm using my Yamaha SG700 as that has some fairly chunky stock pickups. Al my guitars have stock pickups, which are usually fine, but I want to get an approximation of Djent, and the gate is clearly a key component.
