  • Sweet clean board!

  • @TeamHazy Thank ya sir!

  • Are you using a hum-eliminator (EBtech) box or anything. Would love to get more details on your routing into the amp, etc...

  • @JayDeeSG No sir don't have anything like that. Just the gate on the G-System. It's just hooked up via the "standard" 4-cable connection method using the FX loop of the Mesa head.

  • Thank You for your help :-) I think i will a bought a G system now.

Ask TC Electronics for comission :-)

    oli

  • @oliasracz No problem man glad to help! I'll call 'em up right now and demand my 20%! :) LOL

  • Does the G-system change the sound of your pre-amp? I have bought a GT 10 for a year ago but i can't use it because it made a pile of sh*t of my beautiful Marshall sound. I wanted to use the 4 cable method but it doesnt work (for me). So is the G-system better?

    oli

  • @oliasracz Yeah it actually makes it sound better :) LOL - seriously though it's completely transparent so if you set it up correctly from a unity gain standpoint you won't notice any degradation in tone whatsoever from my experience.

  • Great video of a great rig :-). I want to buy a G system but my only problem is that i have an Marshall 6100 and the foot swithing is made by MIDI. Is G system able to switch channels directly with MIDI.?

    Thank You

  • @oliasracz Thanks brother! :) Yes you should be able to change channels using the G-System if the Marshall 6100's amp switching is done via midi. The G-Systems switches can be individually controlled to send specific midi CC#'s to any midi device so you could set one switch for clean channel, one for dirty channel, etc...

  • Man, you should do a tutorial on how you built your board... I realize, of course, that it would require you to build one all over again... :p

Just saying it would be awesome...

  • @ameneon82 LOL - yeah that would've been a great idea! I wish I would've though of that but I wasn't quite sure how it was going to work out either... I got lucky quite honestly and got it right the first time which is rare for me... LOL :)

  • @vaisatchatrucci It´s definitely one of the most impressive-looking custom boards I´ve seen. Hoping to build me one sometime this year. I´ll probably use yours as a reference on how I want it to turn out. Just need a few of the stompboxes on my wishlist to accompany my G-system. :-)

Hopefully it will turn out alright, I´m not a very craftsy kinda guy. LOL

  • @ameneon82 Well thank you! I can send you a pdf of not exactly a high level plan of how it was built but it'll give you an idea of what materials you will need just for the insert that's in the case itself which is really the only custom piece to it. Shoot me your email address to my personal messages here and I'll get it to ya. It'll like I said at least give you a sense of what's involved - its REALLY simple but super effective and clean.

  • Thank you bro! :)

  • man, i love you gear !! ;)

  • @ryjeek thanks bro :)

  • Hey i notice that you're using the BOSS FV-500H pedals for your volume and expression, and that you're using the expression jack on the pedals to connect to the G. Are you using a regular TS cable or a TRS cable for the connection from the pedals to the G system?

  • @ACS1271990 Yeah on the G-System, it's just a standard 1/4" instrument cable. Same for the Nova System.

  • Why don't u just use the G system to do the channel switching?

  • @CBOrion21 You can't control all functions of the amp with the G-System as there are only 2 relays for I think a total of 4 function switches. It's just easier with the AmpGizmo and I can control every function the footswitch can handle (4 channels, reverb, loops on/off, solo boost...) and it's just one midi cable -vs- 2 1/4inch cables.

  • @vaisatchatrucci: Thanks man! Yeah I will make/post a video of the new sunburst RG soon. I'll check out those pedals you mentioned...

  • @mrgrsmitty Great thanks - yeah please do! I love the finish and I still love the RG's though it's been a decade since I've had one... Great necks...

  • @ Vaisatch.... Thanks for the response. I'll probably end up getting the BB soon. I've also been considering getting a Lonestar. The question is weather I should trade in the Roadking or keep it. I really like the warm, sweet tone from the Lonestar and just can't seem duplicate it on my Roadking.

if you get a chance, you can check out a couple of my videos, just type in my user name in the search bar.

    Thanks again!!

  • @mrgrsmitty Yeah based on your video (GREAT playing BTW!) the BB is probably where you would want to go though you should also check out the Suhr Shiba Drive too... I have the Riot and it may be too high gain for what you want, but the Shiba is more middle of the road and sounds amazing from what I've heard on YouTube at least. Yeah the LoneStar is a great amp and IF you can keep both i would. I think you'll miss the Road King as soon as you don't have it. I want to hear that sunburst RG man! :)

  • I have a Roadking also, and have been considering getting a BB or the OCD. What is the difference between those two pedals? I had always liked the BB, but after seeing some other video demos of the OCD, it a tough choice... The OCD seems to sound a little more ballsy.

BTW: Thanks for all the cool videos you make. They have been helpful for me to fine tune my Mesa rig. : )

  • @mrgrsmitty Thanks man, glad you dig 'em! The BB is more of an overdrive although you can get pretty hairy gain out of it I like it for the low warm gain you can get. Its a warmer pedal with treble and bass controls and the OCD is more like a Marshall type distortion pedal and a little harsher and like you said - ballsier. I'll try to do a video demo'ing the BB, OCD and Riot in a "shootout" type format comparing them in that way. I just dont know HOW soon I'll be able to do that but I will!

  • what kind of pedal board is that? is it something you can buy at gc or sam ash ...or you got one custom made?

  • It's a custom made deal because of having to recess the G-System which I did myself... long story. The case itself is just a standard flight case you can buuy anywhere, but the insert that the pedals are on was custom built / modified by me.

  • NICE SETUP!

  • Thanks! It's changing a little bit and I'll be doing another demo soon of a new pedal which kicks ass... :) Stay tuned!

  • Thanks for the chain list, but one more thing. What are those two expression pedals you are using and are they wired into the two expression loops in th g system?

  • Yes they are both in the expression pedal inputs - I use one for volume always and one for wah on some patches and effect modulation on others like boosting delay levels or reverb decays and mix volume - lots of things really...

  • Dude, love your tone and your setup is off the hook. But for the g system, do you run it into the input of the amp or the effects loop of the amp. It would really help if you clarified your cable chain if you get a chance. Thx

  • Effects loop. Guitar-> G-System Input... Output G-System -> Input of Road King... G-System Send -> Road King FX Loop Return... Road King Send -> G-System Return... I think thats right! :) All the stomp box pedals are in their own separate G-System loops.

  • hey, very nice nice setup there mann loved it..my g system coming in a week..can u help me on how do i cable up my g system with my mesa roadster?whats the best cable setup to still maintain the roadster tone?...will roadster works well with g system?

  • Thanks! I like the 4 cable method personally (explained in the manual) because I have no rack mounted gear. If I had a rack, I would pull the brain and mount it in my rack to be able to use shorter 1/4 inch cables and one ethernet cable going from the pedal to my rig... Yes the Roadster will work just like the Road King.

  • where did you get that pedal board? thats exactly what i need!

  • Well, I made the modification for the G-System to fit in there myself because the douche-nozzle that was going to do it for me is an asshole... Not that I harbor any resentment... :) ANYHOO... I got it from a company that shall remain nameless because the owner is a jackass and a liar and a thief. I definitely don't recommend doing business with him... You can have ANYBODY that builds custom cases build the same exact case, just have them look at the video and they'll know exactly how to do it.

  • Your setup is awesome, I have one question though, you said you use 3 cables, I assume one for the input to the amp (from the left/mono output on the G-system), and 2 for the effects send/return loop. If you wanted to run stereo applications from the G-system (L&R output), can you do that with the road king, or would you need another head altogether?

  • Yes thats how I have it set up with the 3 cables. You definitely can't run stereo with the one head unfortunately. The BEST scenario is outlined in the G-System manual which you can download from TC's site, but shows how to set it up in a 3 amp (in this case combos) setup where the center amp is dry and the other two are stereo left and right... I bet that sound amazing... but for just stereo, you'd eliminate the one dry amp - so basically you'd need two amps any way you slice it.

  • if you wanted to do wet dry wet with your roadking then all you need is a power amp and two extra cabs.

basically have your insert send going to the frount of your roadking thats what gets all the drive sounds bb pre ocd wah and all that.

Then if you have a power amp for example mesa 50/50 (im guessing you like boogie) plug the left and right outputs from the g system into the left and right inputs on the power amp and connect the left and right cabs

    pete thorn does that

  • Yes you have to set the G-System to 100% wet as well right?

  • Thank you!!!

  • hey dude! your setup ROCKS!!!!!

  • What are the dimensions of your case? Nice setup

  • Thank you! its 16" x 40"

  • mmh, mang u are rich!

  • I have 2 giant money trees out back.

  • Thanks brother. and it only took me 15 years to figure it all this out :) LOL

  • What kind of pedalboard is that?

  • Its a custom flight case with a customized insert that I modified specifically for the G-System.
