Might never have been officially released, but still compelling. Although we have so much of Lennon recorded, one only wonders what (more) could have been had things been different. Truly heartbreaking.
i love this song AND anyone who claims that rock an roll is just commercial satanist manipulation tactics by evil forces should at least give songs like this one a chance - this contains a good spirit, no matter what the fundamentalists may say
i wish he had sent these unfinished demos to paul and said lets work on them...this one is potentially great and another great one with potential is helo me to helo myself...the four beatles could have worked those songs into gems....
Excellent demo, one of the best unfinished compositions John Lennon created for us in 1980. One can almost feel out the group effort in this demo had it evolved into a full studio track and been released in 1981's Milk and Honey and subsequent Spring 1981 tour.
It will live on in our imaginations and hopefully inspire a new generation of Lennon + Ono admirers
Yoko did say that he was having constant nightmares about dying and it was on his mind up until the shooting, they say that most people DO have a premonition of their own murder...Lincoln was said to have had nightmares as well
i wish i was dead....no more worries, bills, misery, being a failure...sure there are people who have happy lives...but most are losers like me...so the sooner its over the better..i'm too chicken to off myself so hopefully some drunk driver will smash into my car and i wont know what hit me...
i for one do not want to re-incarnate..no sir..once was enough thank you very much....
what a beautiful song and what a beautiful mind and man. my heart always has tears for this man, taken away from us all way too soon. he deserved to have his life. my heart aches. can't imagine how Yoko feels.
John constantly watched his back in NYC. Making sure no one was following him. In a 1966 London interview outside, I saw him scanning the horizon almost like he was watching out for snipers. This was after he made the Christ comment.
You don't know what your talking about. Read some books about the final months of John's life and what he said. He had lost interest in being a rock star and was dissatisfied with people's level of appreciation for his music. Just because you want fame and wouldn't ever sacrifice it doesn't mean John didn't want out. I'm just trying to paint a happy ending on one of the biggest drags in my life. Think before you call strangers stupid.
John was not "taken" from us. He was shot in the back by a born again Christian. Let's not forget this.. The greatest man of our time. I named my son after him.
Well i'm not a Lennon fan becasue he supported peace & love, i'm not a hippy. It' s just MCartney is more melodich and Lennon rare an deep, it's easier to be a McCartney fan.
I don't know the whole chords but this begins in the 4th treat Bb. So one finger in the 4th treat and then three finger in the 2, 3, 4 strings of the 6th treat. Like Bb but in the 4 treat, so Bb#4?
Yeah this was one of John's final songs. He began working on it during the Double Fantasy sessions and recorded several demos of it just after the conclusion of those sessions.
The middle eight is actually from another unreleased song Lennon had lying around at the time called "She Runs Them Round In Circles".
I may be wrong but as a musician myself, this sounds more like a song that was in the works. Using the same verses over and over allows for lyrical place holders to be put in place as well as providing a foundation from which to build or construct a melody. And the recording quality is that of a cassette tape recorder. But then again, we will never know.
Right, it's only a demo. He never got any farther than that which we are listening to. What I meant in the description was that he wanted to put this song(or some form of it) on Milk and Honey.
@hofnerman1 yeah man because im a musician too and the songs i right unfold after i just keep playin it and find the right stuff and feel and all that
@AnaLimaLuiza - I'm not hofnerman, but I can give ya the chords. First, it's capoed at the 5th fret. Then, the frets (relative to the capo) are: A, Amaj7, A7, D, repeated twice, then Bm, E7, and then the part in the middle about the "magic circles" is D and then E7. Rinse and repeat as necessary. It's really pretty easy. I just heard it for the first time and picked it up right away. Hope that helps. ( :
@AnaLimaLuiza - Sorry...in my chord instructions I should have said that the capo is on the 4th fret - not the 5th. I almost always tune my guitar down half a step and sometimes I forget that. But the capo should be at the 4th fret on this song.
I've been trying for a long time to make a remix of this, but Lennon's voice is so buried into the track it's hard. I really wish it was part of "Milk and Honey" : (
Yeah I do. First you need a capo on the 4th fret. Now it goes A and then A except the G string is 1st fret(I forget what its called). Then A7 then D. That's the verse.
The the "Ah, I dont wanna die" is Bm then E7. Play with the D a bit when you do it to fit the song.
Then the "Oh how she.." part is just D and E7.
The solo ish part is a little hard to explain but not to hard to figure out. Maybe I'll post a vid of me playing this song later on.
That is how I prefer John too, just alone with his guitar, I love songs like these, they just kind of make you feel like you are hanging out with John. The man had such talent, I honestly don't think their will ever be anyone else that will ever come close, well I know at least for me their won't.
me gusta mucho la música de john... me relaja y se me hace muy natural--- i love the john music!! is so natural the song ...give peace to my heart.. thankyou brother.
It's almost like he knew he was going to die. I know that's crazy but it just seems like all his demos around this period have this common theme of death or growing older. Or maybe that's just how we're reading into it.
I think he says in this song , Ah, I don't want to die, Then Oh how she weaves her spell around them, oh how she leads them all in circles, best I can tell
man..how could someone honestly kill this man? this beautiful, loving guy who just sang songs and asked for peace.
whats wrong with this fucking world i still cant understand why he was shot. amazing song considering he prolly didn't spend much time what so ever making it.
great song...and whats kinda sad is the picture of john and yoko on this video was taken 2 weeks before he died (nov 23) and you can actually see the entrance of his apartment were he was shot :(
Yeah. I get sad listening to this song just because he talks about being "gone" and not wanting to die. Damn it's sad. He played this song to himself in studio to warm up during the double fantasy sessions. I wouldn't be surprised if he sang it sometime the day he died :(
sort of like "mucho mondo", another throw away song. This "gone from this place" even unfinished is still better than half of todays so called pop hits!
Yes, Gone From This Place is unfinished but it's good for a demo. I just wished it was on Milk and Honey. I always imagined this song as a fifties type of song, kinda like, Just Like Starting Over.
To resolve ambiguity, this is "Gone From This Place (Take 4)" taken from Volume 10, Track 18 of the "Lost Lennon Tapes". The other version here on you tube is Track 28 of Volume 7 in the same compilation. Anyone interested in all 22 Volumes (22 cds worth) + a host of other compiled unreleased outtakes such as the Imagine outtakes, takes from other albums, demos, interviews etc all on 1 DVD, drop me a line!

it´s as easy like this:
Mccartney´s fans , support the music talent as lennon´s fans support the human and liberty thoughts that john lennon had and left in his music.
John lennon did a lot of things for freedom and peace, too bad that this world has much more shit on it than anything else..... U___U
