  • Pompadour fish ???

  • DAMN MONSTER!! xD

Love your tank, and I bet Discus do as well eheh

  • PEARL JAM!!

  • beautiful

  • the tank should have two braces to hold the side glasses and support. nice fish and tank thou mate ..well done

  • @hotmr2 Yes. There are two braces that hold the side glasses. Thank you for you coments.

  • compliments! For the green, expecially

  • Beautiful grouping of colorful healthy Discus, but needs higher-res camera, less zooming. I have a old 44 gal. and went to my local glass shop for about $20, they cut and edged a sheet of glass that covers the top, just wide enough for air tubes and so I can feed them. I just put the light on top of the glass. REALLY cuts down evaporation to about 1gal/week.

  • @starmon2 Yes i know, the camera ant the movie maker is bad, i know :) The inexisting top glass on the tank is on purpose, It alow the plants e flowers to grow out of the tank.

  • how big is this tank?

  • @baboon500 Hi, the tank have 375 Liters

  • Wonderful tank, congratullations!! Please do us a favor and record it with a nice camera so we can enjoy.

  • @bucaneronumberfive I know its bad. :)

  • ti prego dimmi i titoli di queste canzoni!!!!!!!

  • awsome scape

  • @hammertimevice Thanks

  • Don't you have ALOT of water evaporating with the lidless tank at around 30 degrees? Beautifull tank btw!

  • @nogatsira A bit. I put 20L a week.

  • how many discus are fly out tank?

  • u indian ???

  • really nice tank, to take care of the discuss how many times do change water in a month? or what do you do instead?

  • whats the composition of your garden bed? is it just gravel or is it a combonation of soil/sand/gravel?

  • Great Aquarium, concragulations

  • really 350l? in my opinion it's 600-700l. I think the length of more than 150

  • @jacques256 Thank´s

You can see the evolution of this aquarium on the other video called Garden of Stone II...

  • i was told by my local fish guy that discus hate bright lights and wouldn't do well since the plants need bright lights.....i would love to set up a tank like this...i just bought a 125 gal and my friends are trying to make me go salt water but i keep explaining how beautiful discus are. ok so here is what i have so far....125 gal. lights but they are reg lights...i have 1 renastar xp3 canister filter. i would luv to learn how to care for a planted + discus tank please help

  • @megarepsol i also have 2 heaters and an air pump.

  • bright lights are fine as long as there are some, shaddy areas were the discus can go

  • Hi there

Discus fish in they´re natural habitat live in dark waters, but the experience i have so far is that as long you create places where Discusb can go when they´re frightened, there´s no problem!!! Discus like refugee´s, if you staged light where you can alternate from full to half power between your fotoperiod you will have no problems whats so ever...

  • excellent soundtrack, PEARL JAM rocks

  • @TheLivingStone7 Im going to see them pretty soon in Lisbon!! :)

  • hi

Like omega wrote, there no need to clean up, the plants will take care of left overs :)

  • @indianjoe27 whats that solid deep red discus called? my friend has one. except it has one black bar on its head and black fins

  • Hi

The red Discus it´s a San Merah. One of my favourites!!!

  • no need to in planted tanks

  • at last a tank with taste!

  • Thank you very much!!!

  • hi

    Thank you very much!!!

  • my dream akerium and those fishes... so beautiful....

  • Hi

I wouldn´t go that long but i´m flatered by your words :)

Go to Mr. Amano Takashi website and see some work´s of pure art !!!

  • Do you adjust the PH with the help of the Co2 or you use PH adjusters??? It Looks beautifull. I'd like to have Disus..

  • Hi

The CO2 gives a hand on lowering the PH but Discus created in captivity can easaly live in PH 7.0 or even 7.5

  • hi! how long has it been of the planting procedure? im asking beacuse the plants really ruuule! wery nice discuses too!

  • hi

Since the beginningof planting to the time i made the video it went around 1 1/2 year. This is my first planted aquarium, it took me a lot of reading hours to learn how to take care of plants, and of course the failures lead to improves. In the beginning i had weeks in a row when i changed 100...150 liters of waters per day to remove excess of nutrients from water column, all to combate algaes plagues, cianobacteries, etc, etc

  • what i the plant on the floor ? how does it grow out ? and where do you buy it ? and are you using c02

  • Hi

You can find your answer in the post before your´s :)

And yes i use a botlle of CO2. I´m from Portugal and bought it in a near shop called "Naturline".

  • fabulous waterscaping! what plant did you use to get that grass carpet? i read somewhere that they sew the plant into a nylon sheet or something....

  • Thank you for the comments!!!

The carpet it´s a mix of 3 kind of plants...

Eleocharis acicularis, eleocharis parvula and hemianthus micranthemoids. This plants are planted directly into the sustract...

  • beautiful tank, do you use co2 or any plant food?

  • Hi

Yes i use a rate of 2 bubbles per second of CO2 and use liquid fertilizers like K, Fe and micros, any other time i add PO4 but rarely.

    Thanks for the comments

  • Amazing...

  • Hi

    Thank you very much!!!

  • I got my freshwater 20 gallon long tank's water tested the lady said in a few hours my water will go cloudy then after 3 days I can add fish do i need to add stuff to my water before adding fish to get the water clear

  • Hi there

Sorry i didin't get the all picture!!!

You have mounted your tank, and someone said to you that in three days long you could start adding fish?

Cloudy water is not a good prediction...

    Bye

  • @indianjoe27 everything is fine but the ph is about 6.2. Do you know anything I should do? The lady at the petstore said in few hours your tank will go cloudy then 3 days after that you can add fish. Do I need to add anything to the water to get it clear?

  • Hi there again

The ph at 6.2 is not bad. For example you can add fish that like acid water like discus, tetras and others. Did you add anything to your water to raise the PH is that it? The cloudy water is a consequence of it? Sorry you must explain yourself better and detailed....

    Bye

  • @indianjoe27 I never added anything to the water for the ph. The lady at the store never said why it would go cloudy. Back to my first ? do I need to add something to the water for the cloudy promblem?

  • Hi

    Sorry man i didn´t get it :(

    Is everything ok right now?

  • @indianjoe27 Yes the only problem now is she lied to me saying some of the fish I got will grow to a couple of inches I looked online they can grow to 12 inches.

(It was kissing gouramis) Now guess you has to get a 50 or 55 gallon tank for about 10 fish:-)

  • awsimo....Takashi Amano would be proud.

  • Lol

    I wonder!!!

    Bye dude!!!

  • man, you have put some big amounts of cash in that aquarium! realy nice

  • Hi

Not really... The expensive acessorie in a tank it's the light system. 2x the price of the tank.

  • one word...Stunning. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks!!! It's my pleasure...

  • Pearl Jam \m/ saw them a couple weeks ago at ACL!!! amazing show. and I love your tank man, Im planning on getting a large planted tank going somtime this year.

  • omg thats a crazy fucking tank man wow

  • Thanks Man!!!

  • i was thinking of switching from cichlids to discus, but everyone tells me that water quality is very very important. do all the plants tdo the cleaning of the bottom for you? how often do you do water changes?

  • Discus are cichlids too.

you need to change the water once a week at least to kepp a fair water quality for them.

  • Hi there

A good water quality it's important no mater what kind of fish you put in your tank. What kind of cichlids do you have? Keep in mind that are cichlids that like a water PH of 8.0 and more, and Discus Fish like it around 6-7. Be aware to the kind of substrate and rocks and it's origin.... But more important of all, read a lot about Discus fish, they are strong but you must know how to take care of them.

    Bye

  • Plants wont clean the bottom of the tank, you still have to vac, plants just help keep nitrates down b/c the plants will use it to photosynth. You still have to do wc's.

  • Ok man...

    I'm going there...

    Bye

  • Hi

Yes i'm gonna make one soon...

The tank has changed and dont have the some kind of plants and fish's...

    Bye

  • Thanks man!!!

    Bye

  • Hi there

    Thanks Man!!!!

    Bye

  • Hi there

Thanks!!! 375Liters. Make the conversion :)

    Bye

  • I'm taking the risk of being bombed by saying this....

At this stage my aquarium is balanced, and by personal experience i get to the conclusion that if you make several waters changes, you will stress the fish, and they will get sick often. Discus are strong fish, but they dont like stress, so at this moment i only replace the water that evaporizes and i'm getting very good results with it.

    Bye

  • perfect music( is it TOOL?) and tank. But i m surprised, how u got these planted carpet with such few lightening??? 350 l and there are only 240wt, when it s about 350 wt necessary?

  • Hi man

No it's Pearl Jam - Garden of Stone and Madrugada - Majesty.

    See two post's above...

    Bye

  • Your tank's absolutely classy. If you don't mind my asking, how did you plant the plants on the substrate and is the substrate some kind of special material? Thanks!

  • You have to use a good subsrate mix, people have there own ideas of what works. But just as important is great lighting for the ground covering plants. they need atleast 3 wpg or they will not grow or they will start growing up to find light instead of staying small and spreading

  • Hi

Yes. All the plants are planted in the Substrate.

    It's akadama, it's used in bonsai's planting.

    Bye

  • that tank + Ocean rock spread right through the back + beautiful malawi cichlids (lots of them + white sand + good filtration + led blue light + day light...==

    HEAVEN

  • Someday why not... who knows???

Right now african cichkids dont convince me :)

    Bye

  • aj1234321 you say that cause you have like 0,5 gallon shit tank ha ha ha

  • The Light's i have it's more than enough for what i want man!!!

  • How do you clean the gravel/sand with all those little plants?

  • you dont =D the plants do it for you...you just GENTLY (hover your siphon about 1 in over the ground cover plants) to pick up any lose stuff other than that + your WC thats all the cleaning you really do.

  • That's a way of doing it....

  • Hi

    Good question...

It's not gravel, but a substract named akadama used in Bonsai's.

I dont clean it, i've Pitbull fish and lots of Melanoïdes tuberculata that eats rest's of food. What it stay's on the substract it's food for the plant's :)

    Bye

  • Amazing tank. I am very jealous

  • Hi

    Dont be, make one!!!! :)

    Bye

  • """"""GREAT"""""

  • Hi there

    Thank you very much!!!!

    Bye

  • yo man your tanks looks sweet but i was wondering why your blue discuss has a bustes up top fin and also if your spotted bushy nose likes to eat your plants

  • Hi there

Yes at that time he was with bacterian on the top fin, result of fight with red one... No, none of the fish that i've on the tank eats plants...

    Bye

  • how did you get al that green on your bodom aquarium. it looks like grass

    1 abraço

  • wonderful tank, what size is it? it looks like it would also be a good tank for betta's :)

  • Hi there,

This tank has 1500x500x500... Why not betta's, you just have to be carefull with the number of males you put in... 3 maximum.

  • Beautiful tank man, I was wondering what kind of Discus is show at 2:20. Is that a blue panda?

  • Hi there,

Thanks men!!! The strain of the discus shown at 2:20 it's a "Blue Diamond".

    Bye

I use NPK separate and the method is discribed in a post ahead...

  • Quanto custa pra manter um aquario desse? Estou perguntando porque vou voltar pro brasil e quero montar um aquario bem grande

  • Thanks!!!

  • Thanks Man!!!

  • Hey Joe, if you don't mind helping a noob, what kind of grass is that on the aquarium, in fact the name of all of the plants will help too

  • Hey there,

The plants you're looking for are (Hemianthus micranthemoides) and (eleocharis acicularis)

The rest of the plants are described on the video... Consult the plant sites with the descriptions on the video and try to find it. Any questions i will help you!!!

    Bye

  • Very very nice, do you ever have trouble with the fish jumping out of the tank?

  • if your fish keeps trying to jump out of the tank, it means that your fish isnt happy. u should observe ur fish carefully see if its the other fishes that are attacking it or its not used to its environment. i hope i helped.

  • Hi

That's a factor to be aware, if your discus are being attacked by other, there is a chance of he jumping out of the aquarium, but it is a remote chance!!!!

    Bye

  • depends on wat kind of fish you hav....some of them jus luv to jump out, some doesnt. and also the space provided matters. lot of space and secure feeling reduces the resaons for a fish to jump out

  • Hi,

I 100% agree with you, space gives confort and hiding places to the oppressed ones...

    Bye

  • Hi,

Well the red one was the only lost i had... Sometimes this kind of fish get jumpy when scared, and i wasn't home so he died... :(

    Bye

  • gorgeous, must spend a lot of time pruning those stem plants, I know i have to at least 2 times every week. i can't imagine reaching down there, it's a huge tank

  • Hi Robert,

Yes it's a lot of work!!! And the pain in your back, caused by the gallons of water changed to control algae plague. But in the end, you feel good by watching and observing what you have done :)

Bye and thanks for the comment's...

  • do you use python? it makes changing water so much easier, you just turn on the tap and water goes out, flip a switch and water goes back in. :)

  • I'm gonna get one of those :)

Seem's like a nice way to do the changes!!! Tell me something, my WC it's like a 15 meters from the place where the aquarium is standing, that's not a problem? Can you describe it how you do it?

  • java moss will get "burnt" in high lightings.(low lighting + cool temperature)

C02 injection is recommended. they would also thrive with some micronutrients.

  • Amazing, tank, fish and song!!!

  • Hi There

Thanks Man... I saw your Paludarium and it's very nice, well done...

    Bye

  • hello there, this is the tank of my dreams)!!!very very nice!!!well done!!!im kinda trying to keep fish as well, just started a few month ago...Any good books about fish keeping and aquascaping you can recomend?
