  • PSICODELICO O NEGOCIO AI HEIN?

  • SPLASH !!!!!

  • This song has something ... minatory ..., you know? "Death-proof-fan" :D

  • I've always maintained that the backing to this track was used by the England supporters at Wembley, during the 1966 world cup. Bomp, Bomp, Bomp Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp Bomp Bomp, ENGLAND !!

Some, of those dancers behind the group look like they invented the pogo dance 10 years before the punks did :-) Many thanks for posting

  • I love those groovy dancers in the background ;) xx

  • Who's that guitar player playing that amazing Riff ?

  • @klabkebash Tich (Ian Amey) who still lives in Salisbury

  • Super Fucking Domino!

  • @Razorchrist666 Power Uti never stood a chance against Mister 1859

  • It sounds fucking monumental here. Almost a garage classic.

  • remember this back in the late 60s visiting our local fairground on the walzers bloody brilliant.

  • People who dislike this dislike life...

  • goddamnit, who would "dislike" this?

  • You should have been there thirty years later. DDDBM&T were the "House Band" in Flohzirkus Hannover Germany. And when you were the leftovers from Saturday night the Sunday morning gig was for free.

Hey, Taffy and Princess - you were there! Pit

  • the guitar solo on this song is pretty progressive for 1966!

  • this band was a classic and a really good song.

  • Quentin tarantino probably has the best taste in music ever

  • longest band name ever.

    but so fucking cool.

  • @JazzyPoppette Apart from the German band 'Gersplachenvelsprechenfunglichlingenschtylytelingenschweldt'.

  • Hold tieeeaaaeeeeeaaaght

  • what pedal is tich using to get this distorsion in 1966???

I guees is not a distorsion pedal...

  • @vila37 THE ONE THAT OPERATES YOUR MOMS VVVAAA GINA..

  • @vila37 Some kind of fuzz box (at 1:18 ?) I don't recognize it, though it could even have been home-made; there were plans in magazines for making them out of a couple of germanium transistors and a 9 volt battery.

  • @lrd9999 sola sounds tone bender "mkI"

  • This song just may have been the birth of `heavy metal`.

  • who cares if you play this song while youre driving, it's super cool.

  • thank god the song doesn't end there

  • Thumbs up if "Death Proof" and Jordan Ladd's air drumming brought you here.

  • @lucas070798 - Only 12? Then you'll be happy to know that DDDBM&T CDs are available. Other great bands from the time were the Small Faces and the Move, both of which had some fine hit singles and albums. You may want to check those out as well, as they're on YouTube. For the Small Faces start with 'Tin Soldier', 'Itchycoo Park', and 'Here Come the Nice'. For the Move, 'I Can Hear the Grass Grow', 'Flowers in the Rain', 'Fire Brigade', and 'Blackberry Way'. Good luck... and good listening!

  • @lucas070798 - You're welcome. Despite its somewhat novelty image (managed/produced by the same people who did The Herd, Peter Frampton's first hit band), DDDBM&T managed to survive longer than most, producing a series of hits, with 'Hold Tight' setting the template. I lived in Germany at the time, and this band (along with the Small Faces, the Bee Gees, the Stones, the Beatles, and the Move) was HUGE! They were also trend setters in the fashion department, with their hipsters and wide belts.

  • @lucas070798 - it's Mick on drums, and I think Beaky on guitar and Dozy on bass.

  • charger vs. civic!

  • Great song from a great group, and I like the girl in the white dress with dark hair dancing at the back, she must of been a babe and had lots of fun jumping and dancing around. The sixties girls must of been the best girls ever.

  • Great memories of when i was 5 years old and seeing this classic number on top of the pops..

  • Amazing band. They are absolutely death proof !

  • Deathproof!!

  • i thought he said hold tight shut your ass lol

  • i thought he said shut your ass not shut your eyes lol

  • I've never heard of them before--great stuff!

  • Absolute legends!

  • Pretty cool distortion for 66'...Nasty!

  • @choadman1 the birth of metal lol

  • this sing is in the film: death proof.

  • Bloody hell I was in the Para in UK when this came out.Ta muchly for posting as it brings back great memories.

  • A quite brilliant combination of pop and early heavy rock!

  • Those people in the back, Hahahaha omg

  • HAHA Deathproof!

  • Ohh my god!!!! The new single of lady gaga!!!! No, im joked, hahaha, very good song!!!

  • I feel n love with this song after seen that movie "Death Proof"

  • @Nicole90nikkid I did too!!! I didn't know they were a real group until I typed it in here on youtube!!! AWESOME!!!

  • spaceman: I grew up in Boston MA and "Bend It" was a huge hit back there. The only reason I knew about this group. Lot of airtime, but only for that song. I guess the song did not do too well in the rest of the country. How unfortunate. I love watching these youtube videos of Dave Dee. They were such a dynamic group.

  • @erik92mb

omg!! same with me!!!! the beat is awesome!!

  • Great song, great times when this planet was a great place to live

  • Super Hit, das war meine Zeit. Tolllllll

  • A time when people had fun in music plus a brillant guitar, great drums and cute looks too

  • Oh...the hair is so awful.Pretty good song though.

  • Listening to this I can once again smell the youth club and the hormones......

  • Wonderful!

  • what a nice song!

    cheers

  • tank u tarintino for bringing bak this song

  • Sehr gute Musik mit viel Energie.Super. Mein beste Liblingsgruppe.

  • I had forgotton all about a lot of the 60's pop music from my teenage years but thanks to YouTube I can re-live some those great times. I used to go and see a lot of these groups at concerts and had some terrific times - I hate the pop music of today. This is all great all time music! Nice to see a lot of the younger generations of today are enjoying it too! x

  • I'm only 25, so music such as this is only brought to my attention via movies or accidentally stumbling across them, but I'm learning such a massive appreciation and growing love for awesome music. Much better than most of the crap put out these days.

  • @dementedanarchist Isn't it wonderful!!!!??? ;)

  • Awesome song! I first heard this in the movie Death Proof! Thanks for Dave Dee for writing and singing it, and thanks to Quentin Tarantino for introducing it to a new generation!

  • @DoctorPretorious616 i very much so agree!

  • I went to see these when I was 15 years old along with some of my friends. The Troggs and Walker Brothers were on the same bill.....................well we thought it was cool at the time lol

  • i think they would have made it bigger if they had a shorter name.

  • Good song, but The Who slays them. No competition.

  • Comment removed

  • at least they could play there own music

  • which one is beaky? they all got big noses .

  • classic song

  • sicc fuckin song

  • CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! QUE BUENAA ROOOLA Y CLASICO !!! XD

  • @dw69ful cannot be serious stop watching x factor there are Still people skilled and talented nowadays

Janelle monae for instance and tons of English/British bands ask me and I ll tell you who rocks !!! ( e.g. worldwide : bloc party / the whip/ wolfmother / vampire weekend / fools gold/ the gossip/ the dø / cocoon/ mgmt / babyshambles / two door history club - the best 2k10 ... must be one of em that both dø good on stage and @ the studio )

  • The thing about the British Music Scene of this era was that all these Artistes/Groups were all larger than life characters whose personality/charm/charisma, call it what you like projected through to every one through their performances.Look at their body language/facial expressions to see the sheer enjoyment they get out of performing.I am afraid no modern day performer imo comes any where near them. These guys in particular were the tops.

X Factor wannabies/nobodies watch listen and learn

  • @dw69ful i agree with you 100% will there song's be remembered in 2 year's time let alone 40/50 i bet not

  • there music is so clear and concise wheras today's music is all noise. why can't today's acts be like these guys.

  • sans nostalgia, this is just awful!!!!

  • @kimsanleanne what is wrong with you? this is absolutely great!

  • I remember how cool I felt just saying their name and that I had their record

  • Love you guys even after all these years... wonder what your all doing now ...x

  • wow early hard core??????

  • those beautiful teenager years... i was 16 at time ...rememberings

  • When music was music!!!! Great !! Deb

  • i heard bend it on an episode of futurama .... i'm only 25 but DDDM&T is now one of my favorite bands..... and this is my favorite song

  • Ahead of their time = thank you for bringing back memories of my youth and what a name

  • i dont think anyone else could jam a tambourine like that!

  • As The Purple Harpoon says this is feelgood, uplifting (not to say very sexy) music. Just great.

  • These guys make you feel good. That's what music is all about.

  • Put it in overdrive and HOLD tight! lol

  • love to drive around with this song on:)

  • Just a great song to bounce around the room

  • 1:31 ▬ Tich in OVERDRIVE

That distortion was realy something else in those days.

The only band that had something similar was The Who.

Although I liked the odd hit,at the time ,this band was too lightweight for me, you had only so much money to spend ,and in my case it went to The Stones & The Who etc.

Now I've got all their hits ofcourse, and they get better with time.

  • @PAULLONDEN it's a fuzz effect... same Keith Richards used on Satisfaction..

  • @PAULLONDEN I knew you liked me...

  • Comment removed

  • Rmember how I said this car was death proof?

  • this is a great song

  • This is just too cool, boy...I'm absolutely hooked.

  • I LOVE IT

  • Oh boy! I was 12 years old and into Hollies Beatles etc and first girlfriend, Pat

  • Right I am being serious now. Is that a 335 the guy is playing? - because it looks like the tune-o-matic bridge is missing. So what's the deal there- is he miming or just using the tremolo arm as a bridge...? -It's weird.

  • @incongra Okay I see it now. He has modified the bridge and moved it really close to the bridge pickup... but surely the intonation would be out of whack?

  • @incongra

ok, his 335 at one time had a stop-bar tailpiece. he removed it when he installed a Bigsby tremelo(the thing with the arm). you can see the empty hole and one of the big mounting screws from the old tailpiece between the tremelo and the bridge . the tune-o-matic bridge is in the same place it always was.

  • @boneypart yup agreed

  • Thank you for posting this. Such a brilliant sound. Lovely band. Dave Dee was rather nice (naughty me).

  • I do not know of a lead singer of a group who appeared to be having more fun on stage than Dave Dee.

  • @erik92mb Too bad they didnt get a hit in the usa they had some radio airplay on an fm station but the djs were on strike no one to tell you who did the record

  • @erik92mb

    Lead singer too midnight oil

  • @erik92mb Roger Daltrey seems to have a ton of fun on stage too.

  • Top song. Top video. Top upload.

  • Hold tight, make me feel

What you say is for real

    And hold tight, Carousel

Girl you'll soon ring my bell

And hold tight, we will fly

    swinging low, swinging high

    We're gonna make the sky

  • feedback-fuzz-mod-rock!!! I know Kim Fowley saw him in New Musical Express top winners, and said they were the best in the show. DDBM&T have some terrific songs!

    Song.....Best sonG

  • JE TO PROSTĚ SUPER OLDIES!!!

  • Loved this song in Death Proof. Never heard of the band or the song before that film. Thanks for sharing this footage.

  • where are they from ???

  • Salisbury, England. They had 15 huge and brilliant world hits in the sixties, but never really made it in the US, though Tarantino has recently popularized this song there by using it in Death Proof.

  • This is gold!!! Thank you!

  • Einer der grössten Sänger ist gestorben.

Es hat sehr weh getan und tut es immer noch.

    Dave R.I.P

  • Thanks for posting this. Dave Harman was a great singer. R.I.P.

P.S. I taught his two twin sons some 22 years ago when they were eleven.

    How time flies!

  • u guys r right its like punk a decade before it was created, thank you terentino cause i wouldnot of heard of this before if it was for that movie, great song its a shame it never given its proper airplay in the states. defo one of the best songs to come out of the 60's

  • Don't be sorry. You're right. That fuzz guitar you mention is like something from Jeff beck when he played with The Yardbirds.

  • Such a hard rock song for the time if you think about it. Even punk before punk. Very few bands would play that punkish guitar intro just banging one fuzzy chord back then. This is more rocking than The Beatles mos def. Srry but thtz how I feel.

  • awesome !!

    Such a great tempo !

    LOVED THEM :))

    thanks for posting ;)

  • storming version; great clip. top, top song.

  • hell yeah!

  • R.I.P Dave Dee.

It make me so sad that another one of my big hero is dead.

But your music will live for ever.

  • You make it move

    Hold Tight

Hideaway all have that fuzzfest guitar and it was down and dirty to be sure...but the stuff after was pop fluff.....

  • guilty pleasures for a punk fan but this tune is perfect specially that guitar!

  • R I P Dave, I will always remember what he said about 'punk' on TV once,he said "Its 100mph dole queue music and he liked it. Now there was a man with foresight.(think he was an A&R man at the time) Great fun group.

  • Never heard of this group(or song) until I saw it in Tarrantino's Death proof--I don't know HOW I missed out for this long-Great drumming and kick-ass gutair --Tarrantino sometimes acts like an asshole,BUT he has a great ear for music!

  • dave immortal ! ..RIP .. DDDMBT for ever!

  • Dave Dee..Sadly missed but never forgotten.British pop at it's best.

  • Great drumming and man what a mean sound on the guitar, could be a very early air guitar anthem

  • GREAT. just great.

  • Best 60's Drummer Ever.

  • A wonderful group, the best. I loved their music.

You were the best Dave Dee.

  • Very sad news about Dave Dee's passing.

Never saw the band, being an American - and I don't believe they ever toured here. But I sure loved his music. So sorry to get this sad news.

  • I was fortunate enough to see them perform live when I was around 13 years old. I saw them when they recorded a performance for the B.B.C children`s programme `Crackerjack`. It`s a bit of a jolt to see the people I admired `shuffling off this mortal coil`.

  • Dave Dee! god bless you for all the "Great" music that you brought into my life bak in the 60s'!!!how wonderful it was and I cherish it to this day and will never forget you !! R.i.p you will be sadly missed !! xx..Lyndloo..

  • Keep those angels dancing with your great songs. x

  • Just flat out effing rockin', this tune is! So sad to hear of your passing, Dave Dee. You guys really rocked and I'll miss you, Bro.
