  • You have to have heat resistant hair extensions to curl or straighten them, they have to be at least 80 degrees CELSIUS resistant otherwise they may shrivel, burn or melt.

Your straightener or curling iron must be on lowest heat for it to be done properly, heat resistant spray is also a considerable idea as it lines it with a protective coat.

  • You have to get Heat-Resistant Synthetic hair extentions!!!

  • synthetic hair is fake hair made from plastic! i tried to curl mine today and BOY WAS THAT A DISASTER! that wig cant possibly be synthetic

  • so let me get this straight... if it's "special" synthetic hair... you can curl and straighten it like it NORMAL hair. HMMMMMMMMMMMM. and this video exists WHY???..

  • @riskit89 Because human hair wigs are freaking expensive.

  • wont that BURN IT YOU IDIOTS?!

  • I just tried it on my synthetic extensions and it does work! [: I put it to like 300 degrees lol.

  • It worked! :D

  • sure,,,,,

  • i think people believe all synthetic hair can be curled but its not that way unfortunately. also if you believe that doesnt work you could be doing a number of things wrong. the curling iron is simply too hot if its melting the hair! either that or its not the futura fiber. (the synthetic hair that can be curled at a certain level of degree)

  • I think you're suppose to wet the hair a little first...

That way is gonna be sort of like the boiling method since the water will get hot and evaporate when it comes in contact with the curling iron....

I wanna make my paris hilton extansions wavy but I'm scared to ruin them =/

  • I tried....it does't melt!

  • Curling synthetic hair extensions is not advisable because it will just stick to the iron curler or flat iron. I tried curling my synthetic hair extensions before and it melts. You'll just ruin your extensions.

  • i use the steam method

  • @piggytrash whats that?

  • @piggytrash can you teach me how to do that?? :D

  • i think it all depends on wat kinda brand u buy. mine wont melt. i use medium low heat

  • @21LadyDxox what brand of synthetic hair did you use ?

  • this is cool! good thing I've searched youtube about curling synthetic extension. I just bought extension from Avon and there is a note on the package that I can not blow dry it or curl it..

  • DO NOT TRY THIS WITH YOUR SYNTHETIC WIG! It will fray and melt! Use the hot water method!

  • @Turquesai what's the hot water method?

  • @xoxpctxox an excelent method for synthetic hair but only good for wigs put the hair in rollers or in a tub and pour boiling water on it it heats without metalic and helps prevent the melting

  • I agree with songverth. When you apply heat to a synthetic wig, it WILL melt. Go to "shorty4u262002's youtube video on "How to curl your non heat resistant synthetic wig and she will show you the correct way to curl a synthetic hairpiece. You must put a barrier (spritz with water) between the hair and curling iron. She had the curling iron set on the lowest settin "1".

  • what setting do you have it on ... the curling iron?

  • it depends if u get high quality Kanekalon extensions u can use a low low low heat but if ur going to claires and buying a weft it will melt.

  • wow thanks getting my scarlett lace front synthetic wig soon bought it Monday and i want it to last long. thanks so much! :)

  • Wow! I will try this!

  • im really confused..okay CAN U CURL FAKE HAIR OR NOT...????? can anybody really give a straight answer... PLZ its for my prom..i just wanna know thanks=]

  • @appilgurl you can curl fake hair but not on high heat only low heat!!!

  • i tried to curled my hair exten almost all over my hair extention and it's really work ! even when my flat iron can't control its heat. which is will heat my hair extention to the max. and it doesn't melted even when its wet. it does realy really work ! really. i love it. and then when i straighten it back its not that hard. just straghten it back or if u want the smooth straight hair exten just watering your hair exten and voila ! u ll got a perfect smooth hair exten

  • @LoveyCookie Hey!Im geting my hair braided...But the hairs synthetic.Idk whether its "thermal synthetic" or just regular synthetic..but every time i tried curling or using heat on the synthetic hair it would always burn....so do i just turn down my heAt or what?

  • @sheridano2008 idk if the synthetic braided hair is work. i bought my hair exten in ebay. so yeah. it is really2 work. idk if your hair exten can work if you turn your heat down. i just turn my heat down but then my straightener still heating up . so yeahh

  • I tried curling mine with a curling iron and it did absolutely nothing D: Mine are safe to use heat on but only so much but I tried it and it didnt curl at all. It stayed straight or it got this slight wave but no curls :/

  • i use my cheap straightener which its can't control its heat even when i already set it to the lower degree and then i use my hand to make the curl it's like the video and the i use my straightener to heat 'em . and ITS WORK ! but i don't have idea how to straighten it back. cuz it's look messy when i straighten it. any one hav an idea for it?

  • @LoveyCookie There is a video on u tube HOW TO STRAIGHTEN A SYNTHETIC WIG. Same thing only a wig instead of extensions.

  • u can Curl Synthetic and flat iron if u have a iron put the degrees in low like 10 or 6 not all the way hot or to do it faster spray the hair with water and get a rage or something with a cloth matira and irond and curling the same just low tempatir trus it works in allfake hair~

  • when i tried to straighten mine, it got crisp and i couldnt comb through it.

so what could i use instead(ive tried curlers)

  • dosnt it like melt no?

  • ok first question: wat is the difference between a syntethic extension than a human hair extension?

2nd extension: when u curled the extension and then straighten it back can u also do this with human hair extension??

    pls answer!!!

  • some of the fake hair melts when you iron it it also doesnt feel as real as human hair i really like human hair better then syntetic.

  • Surley synthetic extentions would melt???? I did it with my old extentions (befor i got my human hair ones) and they just melted, i completly ruind them :(

  • @ChocolateShoesJOBROS This is thermal synthetic extensions, you must read the bag, the hair is in, it will say, '' these extensions can take so much heat, etc,''

  • @ChocolateShoesJOBROS I did the same thing :(

  • Thanks so much for this

  • YAY!!! I didn't think you could do that but it worked for me...... THANX SOO MUCH!!!

  • omg yay(: it worked on mine the ten second thin (:

    lol thank you((:

  • i straightened my curly synthetic wig but i dont know how to curl them :D

  • Gayaika, How did you straighten your synthetic wig?

  • are you sure that is synthetic? usually it will just burn. would low heat work?

  • Yes it would work on low heat, not too low though x

  • no ur the retard because i've curled sythetic hair before and i've seen it done before and before u make such a dumb comment go actually by some good quality curling iron safe sythetic hair and properly curl it and tell me it doesnt work dont compare it to a plastic bag idiot cause its advanced sythetic stupid

  • @sexyriri you are calling someone else dumb when YOU can't spell synthetic or buy correctly?

  • @sexyriri *synthetic

  • thank you thank you i almost threw away my 98 dollar hair extensions because i couldnt get them to curl and not i curled them and they look amazingly awesome! i love them thank you

  • it melts!

  • You CAN use heat on synthetic hair. I have 18 inch synthetic hair extensions and they are made with a special fiber that can be used with low heat. I curl and straighten mine all the time!!

  • You CAN curl synthetic Hair!! The trick is simple. 1. Don't go crazy on the heat. Keep it low.

    2. Keep it wet! Saturate the hair thoroughly with water before you attempt to curl it.

I wear synthies because of budget. and I curl my straight pieces using this very method. It's all in the moisture. Or you can baggy it. Place the hair on rollers then put in a freezer bag and drop that into a pot of boiling water that will set the curl as well.

  • Hello, SimplySLoan

Thank you soooooooooo much for that suggestion about how to curl a straight synthetic wig. I've never heard about the idea of rolling the hair on rollers, putting it in a freezer bad and dropping it in a pot of boiling water to set the curl. I'm going to try it. I have 2 questions: Question #1: What kind of rollers do you use and Question #2: How long do you keep the freezer bag in the boiling water? Thank you so much.

    Lucinda

  • Hello, SimplySloan: I love you! You are a godsend!

I tried ur suggestion about rolling my bone straight synthetic wig on rollers, placing it in boiling water for 3 minutes. I let it cool wah-lah! I have a beautiful head of curls & body like the Oprah II wig. I love it!

I had asked beauty supply, wig stores & beauticians how to curl straight synthetic wigs w/o damaging it, & NO ONE knew. U were the only person who had the answer. Are u a professional hair stylist? U should be.

  • :D

Im glad it worked for you!! I love doing this to extend the life of my synthies! Not only to curl my straight ones but also to straighten my curly ones.

  • Sorry i'm french, and i got one question!!

so you're telling me that we CAN straight synthetic curly hair or curl synthetic straight hair???

if this is it, i'm ready to go to the shop!!!!

i suppose it work only with janet?

  • man dis video jacked up you not supposed to curl synthetic hair in the first place

  • you should not use heat on synthetic hair! NEVER!! It ill melt it

  • Comment removed

  • IT HAIR BY JANET COLLECTION!

  • Comment removed

  • straighten it?

  • wudnt the straightners melt the hair ??

  • should we curl the synthetic while its wet or dry?

  • I heard do it while it's wet.

  • dnt it will wreck ur synthetic hair

  • yay thankyou it worked ") xxx

  • bullshit.. this video does not tell you that if you use conventional curler it has to be on very LOW HEAT.. or you will melt the hair. , and really the best way to curl sythetic hair is.. use water/little setting lotion and rollers.. then set it under the dryer .. the curls will come out shinny and long lasting.

  • best way to use rollers hot water, because irons can fuck it up big tym

  • so you can curl this hair just on low heat.

  • So curl the synthetic hair on low heat? So how long do we keep the hair curled on the iron?

  • Instead of wasting money on fake shitty fiber hair, get REAL hair extensions.

  • Better still you can just look after the "real" hair that grows out of your scalp for FREE!!! LOL

  • hahahahaha true true i agree wif dis comment :P

  • wow ok like even thougth ur not soppested to like curl sythtic hair and shit like i do it anyways and its fine. lol

  • mine ruin with heat, why cant mine do that? can i try with low heat at least?

  • yes the video is kind of wrong because it leaves out the key point you must have it on low heat to curl with an iron.. now to straighten sythetic hair , best to have a very forceful hair dryer can use high heat, and a hard brissel brush .. it will straighten it good

  • Neat! Thanks :)

  • you will need to begin with the lower to medium heat setting on the curler... So as not to burn the hair.

  • wouldnt the hair like melt

  • I,ve never used this hair before but I I believe the Janet hair is a special blend of synthetic fibers that can take low heat...

Now if that was the cheap synthetic, it would melt, warp, shrivel up, frizz you name it. Check the package 1st, if I buy straight synthetic hair I try to invest in the brand that can take heat.

  • i tried this but it didn't curl any tips?

  • Hey, ch33rleader101

Check out SimplySloan's suggestion about rolling the synthetic hair on rollers and place it in a freezer bag and dropping it in a pot of boiling water or 2-3 minutes. It worked for me! I did it today.

    Lucinda

  • hi i thought that you cant curl synthetic hair.. didnt you use heat??? wouldnt it burn??

  • u can put heat on synthetic hair as long as it's NOT really hot, like u have to use the lower temperature possible
