  • You know Sandi you are making me hungry!! Have to watch the series now...

    Thanks for sharing!!

  • Hey Pink! Good to see you!

    What does spam taste like...hmm...

kind of like a lunchmeat version of ham. You know that they're related, but you're not sure how.

(My husband said that it's more like a firm version of deviled ham in his opinion and is at the top of the food chain in the "junk food meat world"....)

  • I have never had spam... What does it taste like?

  • yep, chicken sounds better ;)

  • Hi Gail,

Yup, I think chicken's gonna happen this week...

    Sandi

  • Okay.. so.. this looks REALLY good..

and you definitely made me hungry..

so I most definitely think you owe me some of this!!

  • OK Daniel, come on over....I'll make you a nice big plate of it...

    :)

    Sandi

  • Ok this one looks pretty good...

  • Hi Dawn,

Lemme know if you try it....I'd be interested to hear other people's opinions on it....

    Sandi

  • Not a fan of the green bell peppers either..but the red are ok in small quantities.

    Ooo, nice sizzle!

Cornstarch and water will tighten up the world. hee hee

Where can I get that cookbook? Spam website maybe?

I agree, canned pineapple for cooking. Maybe it is the consistent sweetness of the product. Fresh is sometimes more sweet or more tart.

  • Looks great!! I never put peppers in my mouth..so I might omit them...but otherwise something I would likely try..but I agree, probably better with chicken..:)

  • Hi Eva!

I'm pretty much right there with ya on the peppers. It's rare that I eat them.

I'll let you know how it turns out with chicken! (Or shrimp even...yum!)

  • That's very much like my sweet and sour chicken recipe, I use red peppers though...we just like them better. Thanks, Grams

  • Hi Grams,

I'm not a big bell pepper fan, but I decided to stick close to the recipe. I was surprised that I liked them in this dish. I usually buy the bag of 3 colors of diced peppers from Trader Joe's and keep them in the freezer for the rare occasion that I use them.

  • that looked really good except for the sweet and sour sauce, I guess I was expecting it to be more orangy or reddish. (I guess the Chinese food place has me spoiled, lol) I can imagine that would be good with chicken also. thank you for sharing.

  • Hi D.!

I thought the same thing about the color of the sauce, but it turned out SO good, even better than the red stuff.

I'll try it with chicken one day soon. (It'll count towards my 12 videos for May....)

  • You have to have some taste for spam to do these recipies

  • Hi Brian,

And if you don't have the taste for Spam, at least have some teenagers in the house...

    they'll eat anything!

  • Teenage boys. I don't think I can get my daughter to try it. LOL

  • Hey Sandi-

    Mmm... yum.

    :)

    Gigi

  • Hi Gigi!

:) The sauce & rice were MAJOR yum's together!

    S.

  • Looks great! Im on a diet so I think I will try it with Chicken breast!

  • Oh Bridgette....this sauce is definitely not diet food, lol....LOTS of brown sugar...

How about stir frying some chicken breast w/ some pineapple chunks & a little bit of pineapple juice & ginger? TOTAL diet food, and it tastes great!

  • This looks great. The "red" sweet and sour sauce is just so weird. I think they only use that here in fast food type Chinese places. Our sweet sour sauce here is usually a yellowish color. I am probably going to try this one out, but agree that chicken is probably better than Spam in this set up!

  • Hi Beth,

The weird thing is....the red sauce is the normal one here...even in Chinatown....but, the yellowish one was really much more appealing on the plate. I don't go out to Chinese food much anymore. I'm hooked on Thai, Veitnamese, and Japanese. I feel so much more energized after eating those foods.

  • I will have to dig out my thai recipe book. It is a little more time consuming to make their stuff, and lots more specialty ingredients (which doesn't do well with my group of people, since they can't tend to find the more "exotic" things) but they have some good damned food, them thai peeps!!

  • The spam needed to be browned more. Spam is alot better browned. Sorta like fried Bologna. I think that would of made it better.

  • I think browning it more might have helped a little bit, but I think ultimately dicing it a lot smaller would have helped the most.

    Oh well... maybe next time...

    :)

    Sandi

  • Looks absolutely GREAT Sandi!!

  • Thank you Tony!

    :)

    Sandi

  • i need to try spam

hugs to you and your family

    xoexo

  • Hi Miss Eden!

    Happy Mother's day!!

    :)

If you try spam....slice it thin & fry it...or dice it into tiny cubes to use in something. I find that if it's too thick the texture is weird. But, I'm a texture person....

    :)

    Sandi

  • can I eat at your house tonight? :D

  • Sure John, come on over...but we're not having this tonight....

I've got steak marinating right now to go with rice & veggies. Sound OK?

  • oh yum that sounds good too!

Happy Mother's Day by the way! :)

  • Thanks!!

Ok, see you around 6 PM???

    S.

  • Chicken or Pork. Yummmmmy!

  • Hi Opendoor,

Yeah, I think I'll try it with chicken later this week. The sauce was really good....I'll leave it at that...

    Sandi

  • No SPAM for me! LOL

  • Ok, crossing Brandie off of the Spamathon-buffet reservation list.....
