Not a widow. Its a close cousin of the black widow. If it was a widow it would have an hourglass. But beautiful spider.

this is not exactly a black widow. This is a "Malmignatta", a vulgar name for this spider we call so in Italy. It's of the same family of black widow, but less dangerous. Anyway his bite could cause vomit, nausea, abdominal cramps, loss of consciousness...and sometimes death. It's dangerous for children and weak adults because of the quantity of venom

This spider looks more like "Karakurt" to me, known by it's european name. And that's the species responsible of widows getting their black fame. Their venom is the cause of most fatal cases among all the spider bites.

No. Thats a Mediterranean black widow. He even identifies it as such. Latrodectus tredecimguttatus. Do a google search...yep, not a red back (aussie widow). If you look closer you will also notice an hourglass is present. Latrodectus variolus also tends to have patches of red on it's back and those bastards are found in missouri (killed one in my room last month, used bug spray so I could keep the corpse as evidence).

Yes they are dangours. And yes you can die if you get bitten by one. If you get bitten you always should get medical attention.

If this is your first spider or your first poisonous pet, you should not get a widow.

My one is not aggressive, but they are very fast. TAKE CARE! And never do anything in the near of her with your hands, always use a pincette.
