The only anoyance i found in the game are the physics [surviving massive falls like all enix games] and how many cheep red jewels there are. You know, where you have all of 1 conversations to find it before you can never return ever again to find the jewel.

As for the plot.. i dont see how its a bother. its pretty much generic fantasy/adventure plot. this is just one of the few games that doesnt spoil what it is and why in the first half of the game.

You should definetely play Secret of Evermore some time. Excellent game, similar to Secret of Mana, but only one player unfortunately. It's a bit different, a bit less JRPGish (since it was made by Square of America), but very good. I heartily recommend it.

The Red Jewel in this episode is probably the worst "Lost Forever" Jewel in the game. Sure, it's understandable that if you miss a jewel and go to another continent, you've missed it for good. But you can't even go back to Ivory Coast once you've gone to Freejia. What the hell? After all, they let you go back to South Cape from Itory, and there's zero plot reason to do that...

You get scurvy from not taking in enough vitamin C. This was a common occurrence with long sailing trips. Vitamin C basically helps keep your teeth and hair in place, among other things. That's why people with severe scurvy have bleeding gums and loss of teeth.

It's one of those instances where they think they are going to die, so they latch on to the closest human being they can find in hopes of releaving the feelings of loneliness they have.

A lizard can grow its tail back if it loses it. I think some lizards can even intentionally detach from their own tails as a defense mechanism in case a predator catches them by the tail.
