oh come on. she's obviously having fun with Edna. but the fact is she came on Graham Norton to be interviewed by Graham Norton and it was HER TIME. Dame Edna is a wonderful creature but obviously horning in on her slot and, frankly, wasting time when Graham obviously had like 23 other things lined up. have some perspective.

Alanis is responding (with humour) the way anybody being put on the spot by Edna would.

Edna is funny but she was hogging Alanis' spot, Graham wanted to interview her because he said himself she is one of his all time favourites.

I watched the entire show and Dame Edna was hilarious throughout. She did have almost the entire show to herself and, even though she was in character, should have been respectful of the 10 or so minutes that was left for Alanis. Alanis handled it much better than most others would have and her banter with Dame Edna was pretty entertaining. I don't understand how you sensed pretentiousness.
