Great video Brian! Looks like a huge amt of work. Thx for all your insights about the game, and your playing advice. And I can't wait to see your next video. BTW, take a listen to the soundtrack to the movie "Drive." It's cool electronic music, much of which I think would fit your videos. In any case, your musical selections are excellent. So, good luck w/ everything and don't work too hard.
If you search "Zhang Jike Loop", your first result is a video of Zhang Jike looping versus Joo See Hyuk in slow motion HD. I noticed in the video that Zhang's right foot is still on the ground at contact on each loop...sometimes its his entire foot and sometimes just the ball of his foot. Would you say this is because Zhang is lifting world class underspin and needs a much more upward motion instead of right to left in this situation? Love your vids.
Strongly suggest drinking about 16 oz of chocolate or strawberry flavored milk (lowfat milk with sugar) right after practices of over two hours length as a recovery drink. Carbs with protein tends to speed recovery and will provide some missing calories from your diet. Also, don't steal the tomatoes. Ask nicely. Maybe trade something.:^)
I think Brian meant the feet are off the ground at the moment you contact the ball. They should be on the ground right before the contact for the back swing and right after for the recovery.
great vid brian! I didn't think you're actually supposed to "leave the ground" during a kill loop, but I went through the motion myself and found myself off the ground.
Maybe a rephrasing of the "lifting off" would help people believe you a bit more as I initially thought it was an active "jump" instead of the an explosion of power that brings you off the ground. Know what I mean?
Both feet off the ground eh? That may be fine and dandy for you, but what if you examine the "high quality" loops of the top 10 players in the world? I'm sure their feet are on the ground A LOT more than yours are.
@TheQuickest I have to disagree. If you take a loop at Zhang Jike during a match, or other top chinese players, his feet does leave the ground during contact of the FH Loop. He is just so much quicker and faster that it is very subtle and his feet may not get off the ground as visibly and as high as BP. Especially with the camera angle angle provided it is hard to see. But, the only times I see Zhang Jike with his feet on the ground during a loop is when he is a little out of position.
If you take a look at the Zhang Jike video I referenced in my other post, it is very clear that Jike's right foot is still on the ground at contact even when he is in perfect position... at least when looping against heavy underspin.
@TheQuickest yeah, I think he was just making the point that there is weight transfer from right to left. A lot of players tend to sort of jump when doing this. High lvl players do it sometimes when they're doing a 100% kill-shot loop or a slam. They literally jump from right to left foot.
But most of the time for controlled 80% loops it's just a shift because they need to be grounded when their loop gets counter looped..and being in the air for that split second causes a slight loss of balance.

Yo BP, where do you actually get your money from? Do you have a job too? Or do´you literally just play table tennis and make these videos?

@ohhgourami I explained it, and I showed it for 2 minutes. If players start to look at clips of top players, they will understand it.

@TheQuickest Most notable to see this footwork technique are Ma long and Wang Liqin, Ryu Seung Min.

@TheQuickest Remember, BP said "HIGH QUALITY LOOP," and that means you have to be in the right position at the right time to do it.
