I saw that banner the other day on TV Land. My mom was watching their I Love Lucy marathon, and she told me to see it because she didn't know if it affected us. Well, we have iO/Cablevision, so it doesn't ^_^

Still, Viacom was very misleading in its phrasing and ads--the only reason TWC dropped the channels is because Viacom demanded millions of dollars (11.3 million, I believe) from them, which would've raised TWC's subscription rate. TWC was merely protecting their customers.

Viacom has demanded that Time Warner Cable pay an extra 12% to carry its package of 19 channels including MTV, VH-1, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Spike and TV Land. It's official, Time Warner Cable and Viacom can officially fuck themselves. Time Warner for arguing about ad rates on the INTERNET (which is irrelevant) and Viacom for charging more money than they should to keep their channels running on TWC.

I really hope they don't go through with this bullshit, Over half of my town is under Time Warner Cable, think of all the people who will lose their favorite channels, such as Nickelodeon, Spike, and MTV!

The problem is: Viacom's greedy and TWC's stupid.

MTV, the other MTV spinoff channels, SPIKE, Nickelodeon, a Nick spinoff channel, VH1, CMT, to name a few.

All Viacom channels, Comedy Central, MTV (MTV2 and Tres too), VH1 (Regular and Classics), Nickelodeon, Nick Toons, Noggin, TV Land, Logo and Spike. The total is 19 channels, but some may not be available, so that's all I know.

Here's why this is happening. First, Viacom wants more money by raising the carriage fees for TWC/BHN (and more might be soon!). Problem is, that in turn would add 23 cents more into your bills (which viacom's fees make up 2.5%). That is making TWC resistant. Then, for the TWC portion of this, they argue that dey ain't gettin' a dime from Viacom's Internet Ad $ (which shouldn't matter in carrying TELEVISION networks.) Viacom's greedy and TWC's stupid. *sigh* DirecTV anybody?
