The new snippet of footage at the end with Odin holding Lightning was designed by Yoshinori Kanada, storyboard artist for Square-Enix. He died tragically in 2009 of a heart attack. Though it was cut from the finished title, director Motomu Toriyama says he decided it on it's inclusion in the sequel.
