sure I like a coup M3 or 850 csi as much as the next guy. But this is a car you can put all your fam's shit, your two kids in the back, playing with their toys and all that and people in a 911 will still have a hard time passing you through... brucking beautiful!

@whitedevilowns - a lot of people. The M5 is 400kg lighter. RWD is better than AWD, because it's less weight, less complexity and less understeer. The M5's engine is lighter andsits behind the front wheels, not ahead of them, so less understeer. The M5's engine is naturally aspirated and so sounds far better than the RS6's twin-turbo lump, which sounds like a vacuum cleaner. If they'd just given the RS6 the N/A Gallardo V10... Also, the RS6 lacks the BMW's invaluable split tailgate function.

Could someone young buy an m5 touring say a 25yo...Or would the 25yo have to go for the M6 or saloon? iTS Just i really like the M5 touring but im worried about the image that the estate car sends out..i.e. eastet car = mature family guy? I would have to say go with the Saloon, or the M3/M6, that is unless you need the extra space? The wagon image, yes as you said, might be a little worrying to people who don't know cars.

Get the m5 touring - it looks great! If your worried about image the saloon will make you look like an executive tosser or a drug dealer (I assume your're a drug dealer if your 25 and considering spending £85000 on a car)

M cars will never have a turbo.

You can buy M5 tunned by Currency Motors. This model has standard M5 engine with twin turbo. In effect this M5 has 810hp, 1000Nm and limited top speed at 380km/h. But I agree it is unique for M-engines that they don't a turbo and it is evidence of BMW's great. It is no problem to make powerfull biturbo like Audi do.

Nice car, but I think those M6 rims don't fit the M5 well. They should have used the same rims as used on the M5 saloon. The M6 are thin-spoked, which I reckon suits the sleak looking silhouette of the M6 more than the robust shape of the M5. Also the (minor) facelift has done the 5-series good. I like the new interior and the new back lights. The most desirable station at the moment!
