  • So just to double check you switch the switch to TV, which let's you play in HD but still record in SD?

  • How Can you do this with the new slim?

  • That is Standard Definition my good man. High Def is 720p and higher.

  • hahahaha sry but 480p is no hd 720p IS hd

  • 480p = SD

    720p = HD

    1080p = Full HD..

  • component cables go up to 1080p. unless ur xbox doesn't let u than fail

  • @H4KzClan no not on these settings, its component (SD) which is not as good as hd but better than SD

  • isnt 480p SD...?

  • Wait so the switch on my xbox cables should be on TV? Or HD?

  • 480p? HD? LOL!!!

  • it doesn't work anymore cus that damn kinect update...

  • 480p isn't HD... That's why it works XD

  • yea, 480p is HD...

  • are the splitters ABSOLUTELY necessary? because when i record i have the tv wire set to TV and the HD wires plugged into the tv with the SD wires directly into the dazzle. But its not HD its SD quality when im playing. any help?

  • are composite cables the same as those extra av cables

  • duzz this work 4 ps3>??

  • Is there a difference between using HDMI 480p and SD 480p?

  • Thank you for posting this. I tried playing in SD, and it was too tough. I just couldn't handle it. BUT this is not bad. It's definitely not my HDMI, BUT it is good still.

    Thanks again.

  • My tv doesn't have a DVD out but when I plug it in like this and go on video 1 it's there and on the laptop but not 480p and when I go DVD it's there on the tv in HD but no pic on the laptop help me?

  • my problem is when i set it to normal tv...my tv plays it as normal tv and if i set it to hd then my cap card gets no picture. so this doesnt work?

  • how would i be able to do that on ps3 ???

  • Its not impossible.. Its pretty easy If you get an extra cord and have the right render settings.. I dont have the cord but my friend does and his videos are amazing..

  • what about ps3?

  • That means you dont record audio on your cap card.. so whats the point xDD?

  • @MrGluto No you do record, you plug the red and white cables into the splitters which then output the audio to your tv whil recording the audio on your dazzle( basically you input red/white to dqazzle then split it and output to your tv)

  • @sonicmaster110022 It doesnt let me choose 720 tho :/

  • this might sound dumb i have everything exactly plugged in the way u show in the video but my problem is on my tv when i go to hdmi setting it doesnt show up i have the green blue and red plugged in

  • @TheRaiinmaker Make sure you have your slider toward the HD settings. And when you go to HDTV settings it will still say 480. This isnt going to be tru HD but its way better than playing on SD. You might wanna check out the new black dazzle. i think theres a cable that they provide in the box where u can play on true HD but it converts it to SD so it can record to the dazzle. Dont quote me on that but hope this helps.

  • @hockeyplayer157 where do you get those splitters

  • @RickyAFlores Radio shack

  • @hockeyplayer157 how much?

  • The quality is still shit for me when i play on 480p :(

  • You exactly can't play and/or record in 720p HD, but what you can do to make it look HD is to buy an X360 Composite S-video cable and just use that with this method. It's not true HD, but it'll save you a lot of hassle switching from SD to HD when you decided not to record. So, thanks for the video! Saved me from wasting $200 on an HD recorder!

  • I see alot of tutorials with the xbox, is this possible in the ps3?

    Thanks :)

  • @GameplayShare I do not have a PS3 man. I am sorry but I do not know. If I had one I would try it to see if it would work.

  • it always says in pinnacle studio "invalid signal blabla check your cables"

  • Any idea why I get a black screen in pinnacle studio when I do this? I have a DVC 100 Black and Pinnacle Studio even recognizes this in the "capture" menu, but it just shows a black screen and when I record nothing happens. It does not say no input signal was discovered, though.

  • my laptop isnt picking up the video :(

    i followed your instructions perfectly

  • This is not HD you can play on the HD channel of your TV in AV anyway somebody please find a tutorial where i can play in HD and record

  • @Shaba269 Its 480p. Its 100x better to lay on 480 than Standard Def

  • Thanks man for the tutorial! Do you think this works for the easycap too?

  • @FarmorGul Im not sure

  • If you switch to TV like you say, you are playing in Standard Def not High Def

  • @budedwards2010 its 480p its better than Stander Def

  • Does this work for ps3

  • @0MrBart0 I have not tried it. I am sorry I cannot give you an answer to that. :(

  • I have done exactly what you said but when i'm recording it is black and white. Any suggestions?

  • @corratanty make sure you have your button turned to TV not HD. I am sorry for the quality but this would be alot better if I had an HD camcorder but I do not. I will make a visual tutorial meaning in photoshop very soon. And make sure you make sure your video input on your software is selected to your dazzle.

  • how do i find my hd channel on a samsung

  • @LukeBRUMTOWN Idk just flip through all the channels while having your xbox on.

  • @hockeyplayer157 i have a source button and i have to click componnent to play xbox its not a channel?

  • @LukeBRUMTOWN Yea thats what I mean man Idk what they are called. You obviously cant play on a regular channel

  • will this work with the ps3 if i have a HD component cable (red, blue, green) ?

  • my blue and green and red cables are a scart and my red/white is normal - this doesnt work - any ideas?

  • 720p or 1080p?

  • does this work for ps3?

  • mine records in 480p and not 720p

is it coz im using a dazzle?

  • soo i am thinking that this worked but on the switch where you choose (hdtv) or regular definition,do you keep it on regular tv ? because when i switch to hd it doesnt let it record, but it still kinda looks like hd, i cant tell

  • Yepp, it works. Thanks much man =)

    Nice video!

    5*

  • @XMMOfficial u wont be able to use an HDMI cable with your dazzle

  • @XMMOfficial do u have your cable set to TV not HD?

  • wtf are the blue cables

  • @motto017 thier just double ended red yellow and white cables..bought them at best buy

  • do exactly what this guy says and it works

  • Comment removed

  • ive got no sound what do i do

  • if u had a turtle beach u wouldn't need the sound

  • To clarify with the author and everyone else: Composite cables ONLY can output to 480p MAX; THIS IS NOT HD. True, you can set this up to play out your component cables, but the resolution signal is still 480p. If you want to record in HD, get a Hauppauge HD PVR or a BlackMagic Design Intensity Pro.

  • i did what you did and my tv says its SD not HD..... idk i may have done somethin wrong but help p[lz

  • it dnt play in hd it plays in sd on tv wow ur not smart u need a hd to sd converter or sumin like dat

  • no it depends on your tv.... mine goes to 720p but it doesnt work on some tv's..

  • its 480p

  • nice vid makes sense ive been wonsering about ccaping hd thanks alot :)

  • Do you know if I can hook up my tturtle beach headset with this?

  • yea sure

  • wat is the blue cables.

  • they are just a double sided red yellow and white cables

  • wait someone please reply, can i just buy a double sided cable with hd ones on it. Instead of a double sided red white and yellow could i get a blue green red? And i could play on hd that way?

  • you can play on it but if u have a dazzle it wont record with those cables

  • Got it. But it's still not HD.

  • @mkal22

Composite is not HD. Compsoite is only 480i, which is only what the Dazzle can record in (720 x 480). If you want to record HD gameplay, take the same concept of splitting the cables, but get a Component capture device (Like a haupauge DVR) or if you wish to record HDMI, get a Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro capture card. Message me if you got questions.

  • i play in HDMI and it seems the quality is 10 times better is that true

  • @xFeRrAGAm0x

HDMI outputs a signal in 1080p, I believe the max component can do is 1080i, but looks WAY better in 720p. BUT HDMI looks best when the source native resolution is 1080p or higher than 720p. I do not believe any console games exist in that resolution, as I hear both COD4 and MW2 have their native resolutions at 600p, so both would look best at 720p (Minimalized upscaling), but if you get them upscaled to 1080p, they look just as good so long you sit the proper distance away.

  • Thxs man a lot i think im ganna buy the AVERTV HD PVR i found it and its really nice and what im looking for

  • with regard to the 360, HDMI and 1080p with HD will give you the same amount of detail in your games, but the HDMI will appear more crisp.

  • Um... My TV is black and white and the audios messed up. But on my dazzle recorder on my computer, everything's fine. What am I doing wrong?

  • the only problem is the when u play its delayed slightly

  • I go to switch it to 720p, looks great, then it reverts to 480i. Looks absolutely terrible.

  • So when you do this is the switch thing on your x box cable to HD or TV?

When i put it to TV it says 480i but it also says SDTV. Is that it?

  • Ya u switch it to TV ... This makes it 480i but the quality is better than SD

  • i fucking love you i would have never thougth of that

  • You can only play in 480p, which is evidently SD. It will not allow any higher than that. I get sound since I have audio outputs when I play in 1080p, but no video recording unless it's in 480p.

So truthfully, it's impossible to play in HD and record in SD unless you buy a ireless Hava for like $120 I think.

  • Wireless*

  • there a restriction on what hd setting you can play on? or can you set it to 1080p and still record on sd with dazzle

  • not sure man honestly.. all i know is how to do it and that its better than playing on SD

  • and you cant just run an hdmi cable from your xbox to your computer, and plug in the regular cables at the same time to record

  • but the clips dont show up it just captures for a split second then goes black

  • go to your settings, capture source and check capture preview

  • ok 1 more question i did it and it works it shows up on the screen but when i click capture my screen on the program goes black any help here?

  • it might be set like that so it doesnt show in pinnacle when u are capturing.. thats how i have mine set

  • hey i set it up and i plays on my tv but will not show up on the dazzle program and says invalid imput but all the cables are in but wont show up on the dazzle program and wont capture any video please help

  • do you have ur cable in your xbox set to TV not HD?

  • why is everything such a pain in the ass...thank god for youtube

  • So, I just plug the component cables from the Xbox 360 into the T.V and the red, white, and yellow into VCR(dazzle w/e using to record), and keep the settings at 720p? Or do I change it to 480?

  • does this work with easy cap?

  • Im not sure i dont have one.. But try it should work the same

  • do you NEED splitter, will that make it possible to play in 720, because without any splitters its makes me play in 480. so how do all those extra wirees and splitters make it 720p, and what is a HD channel

  • will the new black dazzle work the same as his

  • Yes

  • does this work with a easycap ?

  • yes.

  • thanks nice work

  • this isnt HD u dumbfuck

  • this isnt correct. ur play in 480p.

i want to know how the fuck u can play in 720p but still record in SD. would u fuckers change ur goddamn titles.

  • buy a hava.

  • it sucks you have to play in sd to rec i was pissed when i found out

  • Does anyone know how to record but keep your tv in 720p HD for me, but for everyone else in HD?

  • I corrected myself...

  • but wats the yellow color for the ps3

  • Comment removed

  • so u need 2 component cables

  • U only need ur xbox component cables and an extra red, yellow and white cable.. (double sided)

  • ps3 do a video.?

  • if i had my ps3 still i would do it..sorry

  • yeah this looks like shit really doesnt even work get your stuff straight before you start telling people that its good. it doesnt even have a good quality.

  • well its the only way to play in HD and record.. wheres ur vid? dont hate if u dont have a better vid/tutorial

  • This isn't HD... 480p isn't HD, sorry to tell you. And that's what you're playing in, not 720p.

  • dude socrkeepr21 its probably ur cap card not the setup so stop using a dazzle 90 if u r

  • standard definition = 420p, not trying to be rude, but If you check your settings while playing in standard definition, it is 420p.

  • it only goes to 480p which looks like shit to play in

  • Well its definitely alot better than playing on SD. Just tryin to help some people man not get critiqued

  • you helped me its way better than sd and 90% of the games aren't in 1080 or 720 so its good for the games i rec for thx man

  • This doesnt work for me it just switches it to 480p =s

  • does it lag and i got a 1080p 42' tv so it might be different

  • Thank you <3

  • wot colours were da onze in da t.v i cudnt c

  • red blue and green

  • This deifnatley works, but you can only use the lower levels of HD, E.G, 480p, you can not use 720p or 1080p without switching to HD format on your xbox, this is because when you want 720 or above it has to be 60hz, and when you do this your playing in 50hz, thus you can only use 480p.

  • it works but when i go to pinnacle studios it says no valid input signal check your cables.

  • wow man thanks alot that shit does work....

TO LET EVERYBODY KNOW, ONCE YOU HAVE IT HOOKED UP LIKE HE SAYS, JUST GOTO YOUR SETTINGS IN UR FROM YOUR XBOX DASHBOARD,/ DISPLAY, HD SETTINGS & PUT IT ON 720P. NOW U CAN PLAY ALOT BETTER THEN480i which sucks

  • This is what i needed but ur not fully clear about your cords, i was confussed with which cords which could u spesify

  • thanks :)

  • is this the same cocept with easycap

  • yes, but insted(sorry for spelling) of buying splitters, just take the red cable in the easycap and the white in the tv

  • ur the best

  • it stays in 480p, but to be honest it doesn't look like HD when playing, at least not your TV's full potential, because it does not save settings to 720p when I change it, it just reverts back to 480p.

  • Cheers mate you just saved me $120 :)

    PS: THIS DOES WORK!!

  • how???? n wat do u play on 480p or 720p

  • whats the HD ? 480 ? 720 ? 1080?

  • Ok everybody THIS DOES WORK I DID you people are just stupid and you dont know what your doing but thank you so much for posting

  • Yes i know it does.. Thats why i posted the tutorial.. I wouldnt just post something that i knew doesnt work

  • No i wasent talking to you i meant to say this to the people that didnt believe you i was thanking you for posting this it helped me alot : )

  • i can only play in 480i

  • yes but you can not play in hd and record in sd ther is no wayyyyyy

  • Yes you do i do it!!!

  • Look at the video dumbass it works.

  • Im not sure what the problem is here but all I can here is the sound no picture what so ever D:

  • you put the switch to TV not HDTV it will look 10x better than normal definition. Im not sure if its 100% HD but i might remake this video

  • It is. But I'm using a Wii but I have the component cables for it and everything is the same so not 2 sure what the problem is

  • Oh idk about a Wii this is for the 360

  • Its the same cables since I bought the component ones from gamestop and I fixed the problem by switching from hdtv to tv but now the tv is in black and white but the recording is fine.

  • ok this does not work.....when you have the switch on the back of the av cable switched to HDTV the xbox does not output a signal for the yellow video cord....it does output for sound...thats the only thing i hear and see. it doesnt "automatically" recognize like you say....you have to play in SD if you want to record and play at the same time...and IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT on a tv MEANT for HD. hit me up if you have a solution.

    thanks

  • when you do this you put the switch on TV not HDTV.. i said that in the video

  • Don't you need a hava hd box to play in hd and record in sd?

Also how is the quality of component hd av cables can you compare it with HDMI?

  • Thanks alot man
