The WTC buildings experienced an "underground nuclear detonation" which produced a pulverizing wave that ran up the ground, up into the towers (300m up) traveling 400 km/sec. This pulverizing wave turned everything it affected to dust ... the dust retained it's shape and color until the undamaged top portion of the WTC crashed through it ... blowing the dust all over NYC.
