3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
"During the later periods of Roman history, sun worship gained in importance and ultimately led to what has been called a 'solar monotheism.' Nearly all the gods of the period were possessed of Solar qualities. The feast of Sol and Victus (open unconquered Sun) on December 25th was celebrated with great joy, and eventually this date was taken over by the Christians as Christmas, the birthday of Christ."
In the Handbook of Christian Feasts and Customs, author Francis Weiser traces the origin of Santa to Thor: "Behind the name Santa Claus actually stands the figure of the pagan Germanic god Thor." Here, [Thor] then, is the true origin of our "Santa Claus." . . . With the Christian saint whose name he still bears, however, this Santa Claus has really nothing to do.

I love the video. But don't we (Purdue) know how to edit video better? Specifically, I'm refering to the point at the :36-:37 point when the camera pans out on the classroom to reveal a student in the crowd CLEARLY wearing a Notre Dame Football t-shirt!!! What the heck??? Couldn't we stop the pan, or fuzz out the text?? I've always found it embarassing how many ND, IU, U of M, and other school shirts you see all around the Purdue campus, but putting it in our own prmotional video?
@gmccuen Not only was he wearing the ND shirt, he also wasn't singing to the fight song defiantly did not know the words. I don't like it that people wear shirts of our rivals on Purdue's campus. If you loved that school so much, why didn't you go there?
