Listen, the girl looks happy and all, but come on, really? There is no usage of the pinky at any time during the solo. Her technique is VERY stiff and her vibrato is almost non existent. It looks as she is really pushing on the strings to get them to bend. She has a very amateur technique. I just question why she is so famous, more famous than Orianthi at least.

I have never heard Desiree once claim to be the greatest or the best. Not all performances are displays of virtuosity or intended to be that. The crowd seemed to like it - mission accomplished. And fer chris sake - shes what 15 or 16 here? I think some people forgot how to have fun with music.

That will come with time. She's an amazing player, technically, she'll grow into her own style as she gathers experience playing out with various people.

Went to Desiree Bassett's concert at Mohegan Sun last night. That 17 year old knows how to rock and roll! We were so greatful . The entire night was phenomenal! What a great show..and all the people there were wonderful!

He actually had a blues album (same name) and was on stage at the Kennedy Cntr with all the blues greats. He was 13 at the time...I think it was a PBS special...
Attitude. Technique aside, she outshines everybody out there. She has what it takes- sure...So does the other halfmillion preteens on Youtube. Desiree Bassett is one of the best technical guitar players around, despite her age, a fact that completely kills your opinion of her playing being "sloppy".

Went to Desiree Bassett's concert at Mohegan Sun last night. That 17 year old knows how to rock and roll! We were so greatful . The entire night was phenomenal! What a great show..and all the people there were wonderful!

I don't know if that is entirely true. I seek out young interesting players...Only a few like Desiree come along with the power of a pr person (usually a parent) to get them to stardom. I believe Desiree' s Dad is part of her band and probably her primary pr person. On the gender flipside, search Nathan Cavaleri. He actually had a blues album (same name) and was on stage at the Kennedy Cntr with all the blues greats. He was 13 at the time...I think it was a PBS special...

Attitude. Technique aside, she outshines everybody out there. She has what it takes- sure...So does the other halfmillion preteens on Youtube. But her stage presence isn't gawky teenager, or preadolecent . She s seasond already. Besides, if she's only "average' like you suggest, How come she's on stage with Sammy? But, there is something unique about her presentation. Something that puts her a notch above the rest. I suppose I'm looking at something else in the same vids...

Yeah I can agree that she is good on stage for the fact that she plays like she doesn't care what anyone thinks, she is just having a good time. Thats great. That's what music really is. How come she is on stage with Sammy? That's my point, she only is because there is all this hype about her that only exists because she is a girl.
In no way do I think it's a bad thing, she is lucky to have the attention. It's just if a boy had the same stage presence and skill - he wouldn't be in her shoes.
